Would there be a problem if I make this same 3nos series circuit for 3nos 3.7v battery and use it for my UPS? The problem I am concerned about is if the UPS 14v charging voltage is 3 or 4 amps. Use a proper 3S circuit board to manage the battery charging and discharging.
    There's many flaws in this design, as these boards are designed in mind to handle only one battery at a time.
    What you can do safely?
    Wire them in PARALEL not series with a source of 5V - 3Amps, and charge batteries in paralel without any connection to each other board.

    • @overPowerPenguin
      @overPowerPenguin Před rokem +1

      @@jorgecarlosmogollonrojas5536 BMS should implement safety triggers for both charging and discharging.
      BMS should be used only for what it is designed for, like 1S BMS only with 1S battery, 3S with 3S battery and so on.
      You can put the same cells in parallel to increase the capacity while maintaining the 1S, for example, put 3 cells in parallel they are still 1S.
      IMPORTANT: Cells should be from the same lot (manufacturer, year, same usage, preferably new), and balanced when you put them together (have same voltage).
      It is, even like this, unsafe, as the BMS designed for 1S 1P (1 series, 1 parallel) would not have balance charging along all the cells put in parallel, but let's say if you respect what I've said (same lot, manufacturer, year, date, usage-preferably new), you are quite safe for 2 or 3 cells in parallel.

    • @Suzuki_Hiakura

      I either saw a CZcams video showing a person wiring these BMS boards in parallel or figured that out after seeing something similarly mentioned. I also saw in a video where someone applied thermal plaster and a small heatsink to limit heat buildup in larger 1s setups... still took the CZcamsr like 7 hours to charge the battery, but was able to constantly output 1amp safely.
      I never intended to follow this project, as I remember hearing of all the difficulty and risks of getting a few BMS boards to work together in series (I bought about 20 or so of these Lipos that are thin, like phone batteries, and come with a decent BMS installed already).

    • @overPowerPenguin
      @overPowerPenguin Před 11 měsíci +1

      @@Suzuki_Hiakura It's not about heat, thermal safety or similar.
      1S BMS can't handle balance charging, and can't current limit the output properly and so on.

    Another vid introducing bad ideas to people, knowing even less, than the originator:
    Sure: connecting the single boards this way charges 3 cells at the same time, but you win pretty much nothing, apart from using a 12V source instead of one 5V source with more ampere:
    *) you still cannot use the charged cells as a 12V/11.1V 3s-power source.
    *) What about the charging current? IMHO it is limited to the current of the slowest cell. And what happens, if one cell isn't present at all?!?!?
    *) no real balancing function
    *) 12V will not load the cells to their limit of typical 4.2V, but rather 80% - IF cells are being drawn equally.
    *) the role of the diodes is not explained, nor the type/their voltage drop They look like some 1A+ type. (didn't look them up)
    *) soldering the cells instead of changeable slots -> if the cells are used quite differently, at a current >> the one the 4056 can provide --> smoke?
    The 4056 allows for different charging speeds (via changing some resistor on the board) - it'd be much more interesting, to have add a switchable current/capacity charger.

    I fooled around with this idea but didn't think of diodes to isolate the boards.
    This should be good as a low current battery supply (500mA) because the boards can only switch about 1 amp through their output circuits and the diodes are 1 amp. Each board contains two circuits. One shuts the input voltage to the cell off at 4.2 volts. The other circuit shuts off the output voltage when the cell drops below 2.9 volts.

    this is not 3S, you are charging the battery 1S, you just used 12v as input.. 3S is series of 3 batteries, and you are charging the batteries individually. misleading title..
