  • For the second straight year, President Aquino chose to celebrate Independence day outside Metro Manila. This time, the chief executive opted to celebrate the 117th Philippine independence in Iloilo, a province that played a special role in the country's struggle for independence from Spanish rule.

iloilo was just swamplands back then whereas jaro was in the top 5 most populated in the whole philippines and covered parts of mandurriao, la paz and pavia, the property of anastacio lopez ledesma and clara jalandoni lopez called estanzuela later became iloilo city, ledesma street in honor of anastacio lopez ledesma and valeria street in honor of valeria lopez ledesma who inherited estanzuela.

Ilonggos only joined the cry for independence when they were absolutely sure that the Spaniards are losing. Mga segurista. At the start of the movement Ilonggos even sent forces to Manila to aid the Spaniards against the Tagalogs but they came too late. The last capital of madre España is Iloilo when Manila fell to the Tagalogs. To this day Iloilo proudly displays in its seal LA MUY LEAL Y NOBLE CIUDAD DE YLOILO (Most Loyal and Noble City of Iloilo) Loyal to Mother Spain, that is.

2 paksyon, loyalist at revolutionist. Kaya umalis mga espanyol akala nila ligtas na sila sa mga rebolusyonaryo. Sigurista si aguinaldo. Ayaw nya ng independent visayas

Just a suggestion: since the letters that form the word "Iloilo" looks like the binary numbers 110110, why don't we transform the city into the Silicon Valley of the Philippines? eh? =)
