Many people says 2205 is the worst because it is oversimplified and too boring. But I feel it is the best game in this franchise to be enjoyed. As you say all the maps are indeed beautiful. And the logistics is fairly sample so the end game is not getting too complicated.
But yes games like 1800 is more challenging and interesting to play. It just I always feel reluctant to keep playing as I progress.
Yes some mechanics are simplified but playing in the veteran difficulty you still get a nice challenge. For me the main issue is replayability where given the custom maps, once you have played it from start to finish once, you probably will wait 1-2 year before replaying it vs. Anno 1800 it's the opposite where most people actually restart so often they never get to the end lol

It's not the most complex anno, I love specially anno 1800 for that, and ost is spectacular, but anno 2205 is and will still be a wonderful experience, it's a chill with a beautiful music, some from global map are incredible, and when I play is a dreamy experience, wondering how the ecosystem of humanity and it's unique experience could be. I'm glad that they decided at their time to create something like this. I really enjoyed soo soo much and still enjoying it time to time

This is my first anno game and I love it. But the ship battle missions are annoying especially as I keep getting so far then realise I want to start again😂😂. Great content it's helpful thank you

I think since its in the future the logistics is also simpler and the game in general should by then be simpler cause the future equals more tech to help with automation

Added to that, I think that the game developers have a whole history and references to create games based on the past, on the contrary, if they look to the future there are hackneyed models and ideas in this regard, but that does not make them any less interesting when they have a futuristic design and graphics.
I'm looking forward to "The Crust", a futuristic automation game. I hope I have attractive models and cities to look at on my big screen while I study or do other things.

it's crazy - I mean Anno 1800 is beautiful in its own way too for sure but the art style for Anno 2205 is just out of this world

If you have bought the DLCs yes you should activate them right away - it won't overwhelm you
If you haven't bought them, I would actually suggest you play the game one time without them and then you buy them and replay it a second time as a 'new experience' :)
