It's not meant to follow a "trend." The entire idea of trends are honestly cringe, because when said trend dies, everybody acts like people can't play those games anymore. It's weird. A game is a game.
Ya know it started as a goofy joke series that most people dismiss as such, but it has become such a riveting tale of struggling for survival against an incredibly tough opponent. And so many hardships experienced by individual characters both big and small. I don't know how much longer this series will go on but it's been one hell of a ride and I'm happy it's happened.
