  • So I finally posted a review of the Magic YoYo K2 Crystal. I actually bought this yoyo a couple of months ago so I've gotten a chance to play with it and try to get a good feel of how it performs.
    Just an insight, most of the yoyos that I review, I usually spend a couple of weeks playing with it to get familiar with the feeling. Sometimes it's a couple of weeks, but honestly there are yoyos I've had for nearly a year that I still need to get a review up.
    But the K2 is definitely an interesting yoyo. It's categorized as a "budget" yoyo and with that price it definitely hits the mark on that. But the performance is definitely no joke. I don't own much modern unresponsive throws (Vosun Trinity, MagicYoYo Skyva, YoYo Factory Northstar) but none of them are under $10! I know if you buy one Crystal it's around $10-15, but I bought the double pack at $18 making each one $9.
    It's very aesthetically simple but catches your eye. Designed with a dimple for finger spins (kinda small, but I have skinny fingers so it's good for me). Spins long, plays well , and easy to play fast.
    Is it the best plastic yoyo? NO, it's definitely. Since the design looks to have the weight distributed to the rims and the dimple in the center of the cup would give the Crystal a long rim weight spin time but it doesn't take much to shift the angle from the central axis. What I mean by that is if say you are doing an underpass or roll and the yoyo slightly hits or grazes the rim, it changes the rotational direction pretty easily.
    But for it's price and performance, I will have to say that it is the best plastic yoyo for that price.
    I feel that the Crystal has a 40C/60R (C=center/R=rim) because the body design makes the yoyo feel like the weight is onto the outer rim, and with a dimple in the center cup for finger spins, it lacks the axle stability.
    Let me know what your thoughts are on the MagicYoYo K2 Crystal in the comments below.

      Thank you! So when I used to be competitive in the late 90's and early 2000's, I had a small class with the city I live in to teach beginner and intermediate yoyo tricks to people who signed up. Not a lot of people signed up but I was still happy that some did. I also hosted a small local tournament in 1999 in my area. =)

    I know this isnt related to the video but does a rusted bearing on a yoyo affect spin time? And if so is it good for practice

    • @YAPYOYO
      @YAPYOYO  Před 8 měsíci +2

      Yes, a rusted bearing will definitely affect the spin time because it won't spin as smoothly. You can still practice with it when you lube the bearing a little bit unfortunately a rusted bearing usually needs to be replaced.

    Hi there, I was wondering if the type of plastic used would crack or break easily (brittle maybe)? That's by biggest concern with plastic yoyo's and I wanted to hear your opinion on it.

    • @YAPYOYO
      @YAPYOYO  Před 2 lety +1

      I'll be honest. I usually practice indoors most of the time so I wouldn't know exactly. The plastic is pretty heavy so i don't think it would crack or break that easily unless it really slams into the ground. The only weak part I can see is the axle area since that's the only part that would have less plastic.

      @@kenfisher4860 I can probably make a video that can go more indepths to how to determine the differences with so many different yoyos. But to help you with my best picks for Magic YoYo yoyos would be Hertz, Node, Purple Line (I'll have a review up in a few weeks), and K1 (review coming soon as well).
      You might notice I didn't mentioned the K2 crystal, it's because as versatile as it is, there really isn't any exceptional high points to it. It's a good yoyo honestly, but the 4 I mentioned would be more than enough to touch on certain basis.
      K1 is great for beginners all the way to advanced to help polish combos. It's responsive, affordable, and it honestly plays very smoothly.
      Purple Line is a very good overall on everything. It has all the features to do finger spins, thumb grinds, body grinds, as well as the capability to easily perform any trick you can come up with. It's kind of a under represented yoyo imo.
      Node is a more nimble or evolved version of the N12 shark's honor. More rim weight for longer/complicated tricks. Slightly undersized but that's what makes this a fun yoyo.
      Hertz, this is one of my daily carries. I have one that has all sorts of damages on the rim and such. I think they average from $13-20 and it's a well balanced, light weight yoyo. Bouncy and enables you to fine tune fast playing.
      And yes, pretty much almost all yoyos I've purchased these last few years play the same to a degree. Almost all yoyos spin very long, are capable of long complicated tricks. Some easier than others to perform, but I think it's the "feel" of how each one differs.
      I hope this helps. =)

    • @YAPYOYO
      @YAPYOYO  Před 2 lety +1

      @@SewerGang So this can be a difficult question to answer as I notice modern yoyoing usually starts with responsive (also referred as 0A) 1A or 2A. Because they both have different foundational disciplines. But with that budget, I'd first suggest getting a MagicYoYo K2 Crystal that INCLUDES an UNRESPONSIVE bearing ($11-15 on Amazon) and a Yomega Fireball ($12) or Yomega Raider ($15) or Magicyoyo D1 ($10). That way you can first learn how to throw a proper sleeper, looping tricks (with the fireball, raider, or D1) as well as building block tricks. Save the rest for tools such as lube (if you start to veer towards responsive and 2A) and/or thin lube (if you stick with 1A and other unresponsive styles) and STRING. Good string does change how a yoyo plays especially as a beginner. If your skill level increases really quickly, then the next yoyo will be based on what "feel" you prefer when playing.
      For example, I like a little bit of rim weight when I practice, so I use my Node a lot. For speed practice I use my Hertz. For practicing horizontal I like using my YoYoFactory Shutter Wide Angle.

    • @YAPYOYO
      @YAPYOYO  Před rokem +1

      I wouldn't worry too much if your bearing doesn't sound as loud as mine, as long as it's playing unresponsive or the way you like how it performs, you're good. Normally you wouldn't want your bearing to sound very loud because that usually means it's either dry, severely lacking in lube, or there's some issues internally. Some noise is fine but not if it's very loud.

  • @v1ta1ity49
    @v1ta1ity49 Před 2 lety +1

    Just bought this yoyo and switched out the bearing to unresponsive. However, when I tug the string it still comes up like a responsive yoyo. Sometimes when I'm doing string tricks it unexpectedly comes up. Do you have similar problems with this yoyo? Many thanks.

    • @YAPYOYO
      @YAPYOYO  Před 2 lety +1

      I do usually use this yoyo as unresponsive. I have experienced the yoyo coming back up with just a tug, but this is after many days of use where the bearing got dirty and became a little bit noisier.
      I would suggest to clean out the bearing if you've been playing with it for a while or if some dirt got in.
      I don't have this problem with this yoyo, but i have encountered where the yoyo unexpectedly comes back up. Most of the time it was a dirty bearing, but there was once time where after a cleaning it still gave me issues, I later discovered that the internal bearing cage had a small (fixable) defect.

    • @YAPYOYO
      @YAPYOYO  Před 2 lety +1

      @R3dtooth7 When the yoyo unexpectedly comes back or plays like a responsive can either be a dirty unresponsive bearing or maybe the silicon pads may be sticking out too much or possibly many other reasons.
      If you're referring to how I repaired the bearing cage. I first had to identify any unusual sound that the bearing is making. Some sounds are really quite noticeably different, so what I hear sounded like a continuous scraping of metal to metal. Upon removing the bearing shield, I found out that the bearing cage had a small clasp sticking out and touching the outer ring of the bearing. All I did was take a jeweler's screwdriver and carefully fold the clasp towards the bearing cage. Cleaned the bearing and it was fixed.

    • @YAPYOYO
      @YAPYOYO  Před 2 lety +1

      @R3dtooth7I would first check on the silicon pads to make sure it doesn't stick out where it may make it play responsive, but if the pads looks fine, then check the bearing.
      Inspect the bearing to see if there was lube added because if a bearing is very silent, it may have been lubed.
      If it does have thin lube, the bearing will eventually play more unresponsive if you keep on using it. Although it may not play exactly as a completely cleaned unresponsive bearing.
      If there is thick lube in the bearing, you may have to give it a good cleaning.
      I haven't made a video yet but the typical way to clean it is either using mineral spirits, lighter fluid, acetone (not the one used for toe/finger nails). I personally use Mineral spirits (bought mine from Walmart) to clean mine out.
      You must never wash your bearing with water or alcohol as it can make your bearings rust.
      I can't think of any other possibilities that would be considered easy fixes because anything else would require to open up the bearing and I would not suggest for you to do that because it can damage your bearing if you're not careful.
      I hope these help.

      So I just tried to see how long it can spin. I did a long sleeper without tricks and slept the yoyo till full stop and I recorded a time of 6min 28.91 seconds.

      The version I bought on Amazon are both unresponsive, but I believe Amazon has other versions where it's either responsive, or even the option where it includes additional bearings to interchange them.

      @︎︎ ︎ ︎ yes unresponsive does not return to hand and responsive returns to hand

    Why won't my k2 unscrew

    • @YAPYOYO
      @YAPYOYO  Před rokem

      Usually most yoyos that gets packaged is tightened really tightly... Which does not make it easy to take it apart. So in instances like these I can only suggest to unscrew it carefully.
      I would check to see if there are any cracks in the plastic that holds the nuts in place, they can be seen inside the finger cup area. If there are cracks there or deburrs(where the plastic are rounded or worn), I would highly suggest to not take it apart due to the risk of damage.

    Is this yoyo recomended for begginers?

      @YAPYOYO  Před 3 lety

      I think this would be a great yoyo for beginners, but not for a first yoyo, unless you get the "responsive" version. I'll be making a video later this week in regards to picking out your first yoyo.

      @@YAPYOYO i can do some easy tricks with bad yoyo that could sleep only like 5 second
      So i need a better yoyo that could sleep longer

      @@davinrevata1087 Then the K2 Crystal should work for you. Be sure that it comes with both a responsive and unresponsive bearing so that it will allow you to experience both types of bearings. I believe Amazon has them.
