  • Vintage guitars and amps are so much cooler when they're in context! This one predates the mass produced, solid body electric guitar! Hear Reed take it for a spin and make a book recommendation.

Absolutely love the fact that you're using microphones from the same era (relative time in history ) as the amps you're playing through.
Thank you for showing All the beautiful equipment you come across. And the stories / history that go along with it..

The 8” in my 54 Princeton handles my 68 Les Paul Custom pretty well although I don’t push it too hard. I use it in stereo with a 64 Vibro Champ for the best clean tone I’ve ever heard. Those with a little reverb and delay and OMG! Oh, and some tremolo from the Champ. Killer!

I love the Birth of Loud. I've heard that much of the Layla album was recorded with tweed Champs, probably later models than this one. Enjoyed the video!

Mr "Cool" Jones. 1 vol 1 tone is all you need. I can feel the "Zing".

Fender didn’t use the 6sc7 tubes until the early 1950’s, ‘52-‘53 era. 1947 would have been a woody style. Yours is definitely not a prototype. Nice amp but I think it is probably a 1952- early 1953, when Fender went to the Wide Panel look. The serial number should be on the underside of the chassis, turn it upside down and you will see even with the back panels on.

The earliest it could be is ‘49. They were called the “Woody” in 47.

@@darwinsayeI should have said through Tweed amps i do like Fender guitars through other Fender amps but Gibson's through the early Tweeds is a match made in heaven.
