Thanks for the video. As for the comment about caulking … make sure you don’t caulk the bottom. That way if water is able to come from the top or sides… it has a way out at the bottom. Same thing you would do with any any openings in the wall, like a window.

Yes, the flaps are weather tight. We have sub freezing weather and extreme heat and the double flaps seal up real well. Once in a while I do clean the cat hair off the flaps to keep it sealing well.
Correct, the locking mechanism works with the metal door that is included if you choose to disable the doors pass through function. Could be for security or just to keep crafty pets from trying to slide the metal door upwards.
Thanks to this door I lost my cat congratulations bonobi.. if a cat door will keep safe your cat..and you are ready to lost your pet ... install up bonobi door... just a reminder theres a lot of coyotes, bob cats. skunk and dogs... I was very exited when installed the bonobi after 2 months my cat was ate by a coyote... to much freedom for a cat may result in a lost. nice product but not safe. now I have a big hole in my condo and without my cat,...

No but when the metal cover is removed they appear more transparent.

I bought a cheap jig saw to cut the siding and outside wall.
You'll have to use a drill to start a hole for the jigsaw blade.
