@@noa360 There's nothing wrong with the trombones being the best section. They are supposed to be the wall of sound that makes the band sound full. The other sections are not far behind them either.

Marion Simmons yeah Brian is more up to date and aggressive. Kendrick is more old school and his style of directing kind of remind me of Grambling band director a few years ago. Remember Grambling band director use to play either gospel and old school but barely current songs.

Brian on some cranking shit. Haymer was on some musicianship shit, which is cool, but Brian trying to smash some shit. The kids love that because that’s what you come to Southern to do, smash some shit. I LOVE IT!!!!! I feel in love with Southern back in the 80s and 90s when they used to straight crank shit. Blood on the dance floor, hey in the middle of the barn, tower of power, backstabbers, cold hearted snake, it’s a love thang, can you feel it, etc. So, I don’t mind if they blow the shit out of everything. I am a die hard SU fan... been around a long time.... just stating an opinion which I am entitled to... not the 1st time a song didn’t work for them.. however about 95% the Juke is flawless in my opinion... but I keep it real too if it’s something I don’t like. Don’t read too much into it doc.
lavdancy man the game was just off bruh. They didn’t open the book up or anything. Repeated a song or two. Rap songs going on too much in the 5th. And to me alcorn didn’t do anything outside of what they normally but they left there feeling like they won and so did many fans. I wasn’t overly impressed by alcorn but they had a cool selection here and there... I was much more disappointed in the S. But I’m quite sure in these next few weeks these bands will get murdered as usual.
Before anyone says I'm hating... I'm a huge fan of the juke. Outside of the Boom they're my favorite band to watch...but I notice in a lot of band hall vids there's a tempo problem with the tubas. I'm wondering if it's the spacing?

Why is it that tubas always drag in the bandroom. I know its intentional but not sure why
They're in the band you hear sound differently as it bounces from wall to wall. Completely different from being outside in open space.
@@nellyb55 no i understand the concept of bandroom vs outside. But that isnt it. They are dragging and drag often. I remember a bandmember said it was intentional and they had a name for it. I just don't remember the name of it or the purpose. I played tuba so I know how it sounds in a band room and I also know they drag on a lot of songs. Much love

@@flyinhawaiian6760 actually they may just be slightly behind (which is dragging) but even then that's not what I'm referencing. I can't think of a specific song but there are some times where they are dragging so slow that you have to ask yourself why are they going that slow, they can't keep up? But I know it's intentional. If I find an example of what I'm referencing I will link it
