Panasonic Lumix G X Vario 35-100mm f/2.8 II POWER O.I.S. Lens.
Filmed at 200 iso.
Sennheiser MKE 440 Compact Stereo Shotgun Microphone.
This isn't a technical review. There are plenty of those posted on CZcams. I'm just showing how well the GH5 handled the tricky lava flows that night and morning. The flow area was quite active and the heat made me cut many clips short.
I was trying out various focus settings so, there are times I keep the camera filming while changing compositions to show how well the GH5 adjusts.
Often I used the touchscreen to manually change the focus.
It worked great.
Also, the AFC worked great 99% of the time.
There were situations where the intense heat waves proved too much for that setup but, that's a tough situation for any camera and normally I'd use a different method.
Again, these were test clips.
It was also very windy but, the dual I.OS. handled it just fine.
I posted this in the 4K 60fps because it would be an injustice to render at 1080p. The 4K is spectacular in comparison.
The only editing was a slight increase in both the saturation and contrast. 5% - 10%.
The GH5 can be as simple or complicated as you want it to be. The filming options are endless. Beautiful images too.
Watch full screen and look for the intricate little changes in the flows.

So many things can go wrong for those who don't understand or can't recognize the dangers of a volcanic eruption.
Stay away and watch my videos instead.
Having said my usual warning, let me add that this flow is accessible via bike and hikes of at least 8-9 miles round trip.
Expect large crowds of people. Be sure to carry at least 3 liters of water per person.
Always use extreme caution at the sea cliffs and never walk out onto new land as it could easily collapse into the ocean taking you with it.
As the bench grows the immediate sea cliff will be vulnerable to collapse also.

Also, it's best not to breath if you find yourself engulfed in the steam plume. If you think you will be in it often, be sure to wear a respirator or at the very least cover your mouth and nose with a shirt or similar when breathing.

Thanks....Part 2 will be loaded tomorrow. The videos are a bit long but, that was due to testing the focus abilities of the GH5 and the great activity. Sometimes its hard to stop filming. Thats an amazing sight, thanks for sharing this! I would love to get to see a flow in action, the sound is fascinating. I guess you would have to be mindfull when filming not to get boxed in by the flows!
The heat keeps you from getting trapped for the most part. Too hot to stay in one spot for too long. Always keep the gear on higher ground too otherwise you'll be moving it often. Right now its pretty easy to reach. An easy bike ride then maybe a 1/2 to 1 mile hike. No guide needed. Thanks for watching...

Can you convince me why I should get the GH5 over the G9? I want to record videos and also take photos
It depends on what your priority is and how you plan to use the video. The GH5 has pro-level settings available for video but, its overkill if you're not into that. The G9 shoots great video too and it has that 80mp option for photos. The GH5 shoots video until either your card is full or the battery is dead. I'm not sure about the G9.
Rumor has it 3 new GH6 versions are coming out this fall that will make it an even tougher decision.
I was going to grab a G9 strictly for stills until I heard that news.
When I made this video I only had the GH5 for a few days. Knowing the camera the way I do now I could do so much better. Like more use of the manual focus option.

@@lavapix Yeah you can only film 10minutes at 60fps in 4K with the G9 which is a bit annoying not sure why the GH5 is older and is capable of shooting with no limit. Shouldn't be too big of a deal. I think I'll be getting the G9 will suit my application and I don't want to spend the extra for the GH5 when the G9 is newer and has a few better features including better images and the 80mp option is cool. Tbh this is my first DSLR I only wanted to spend $500, but wanted the 4K 60FPS option with no crop/limitations and its the cheapest option that can run 4K60FPS + 5 axis stabilisation
BTW I love this video it sounds amazing. I listen to it before I go to sleep on my TV just sit back and watch :D This is the video that turned me over to panasonic as I was going to buy the canon 250D at first
@@Thunder0wnsz The dual stabilization is excellent. If you can only have one lens either go for the Lumix 8-18 (16-36) or the 12-35 (24-70). I use the 8-18 75% of the time. But the entire kit is so light I carry them all.
The GH5 was mainly built for video but it also does excellent photos. Today's software can fix noise issues easily.
