Many thanks for a very thoughtful and informative video. You cover all the topics I went through when I brought home my pair of IW puppies. None of the local vets or supply houses knew a lot about the breed, and finding good info online was futile. That added up to many useless, expensive purchases. The only thing that I did find back then was a giant crate that fit both of them (for a while) and was their preferred sleeping quarters. Now that they are both gone, I'll be referring to this video to hopefully eliminate many of my 1st timer mistakes when I'm ready to start this journey again.

Just learning about the breed and have fallen in love so deeply I can't believe it. I wish to own one for more than companionship and protection.

I waited over 15 years to get mine 😊 to have the right property and financial stability since the bigger they are the more expensive they can be to care for! It was worth the wait. I hope one day you can experience the joy of owning one

Awesome job on this Michele. You covered all the basics in an informative and very practical way. I would like to recommend it to all new potential puppy owners. Thanks for a valuable resource.

Get 2 lids for the expen. Clip one to the bottom and one to the top. You now have a crate that they can’t jump out of or tip over. Also, you can fold the pen and use it for your puppy. You can unfold it as the puppy grows.

Thank you for the video. What are your thoughts on Irish wolfhounds living in a house with stairs if they are trained to use them? Most websites seem to say they should not use stairs but your dogs seemed to have no problem with the stairs to get in and out of the car. If stairs are an issue do you think they would be fine as an outdoor dog? If this was the case would you recommend having two to keep each other company? We live in an area that doesn’t get too cold.
Thanks again for the video and any advice you may have relating to the above questions

I know a few owners that have IWs with stairs and I don’t think it is a problem for IWs to use stairs. Artemis doesn’t care for stairs in the house but Rooney goes up and down them with no problem. Both will use the stairs to my porches which one is 3 steps and the other is about 8.
