What happened to the first baby? Did it fledge as well? One second it’s sitting on the edge being fed and then gone? It didn’t look much older than the remaining chick.
good catch! They both hatched and fledged the same day. They started to sit on the nest rim in the morning and I watched/filmed them all day. When I went inside for 2 min to change batteries the first baby was gone and never seen again. #2 practiced flying for the whole afternoon and spent the following night 5 inches from the nest before it took off.
