Everyone is moving to Tennessee. He's one of a myriad of people who recommend that state. Once everyone moves there, paves it over with housing and commercial development like FL, they'll be complaining about it too. I can see it now...
"10 Reasons why I would not move to Tennessee if I had it to do over".
Everyone was scamming the insurance for new roofs and now they have to pay the price.
Everyone wanted to move to Florida because it was so nice. Too many people moved in and changed it forever. Thats what happens to Paradise with overpopulation.
I encourage anyone who doesn't like living in Florida to haul ass to another I'm sure it's better up North 😂
The people hauling ass are native Floridians who can’t afford to eat and live here.
@@cutum need to chin in
Yes yes yes it is much better up north we have furnaces for heat … and beautiful people and lots of free parking
I could go on but why….? Floridians like you will be broke soon…but you got heat lots and lots of heat … wishing you luck 🍀
Can't have southern hospitality with an influx of New Yorkers and Californians!
Exactly my point in my last comment. We wanted tourists and a tourist season and then leave! We had our own culture and our own southern charm. I can't stand interacting with loud, rude ppl and the Cali Karen's and bif tads goooooo just gooooooo
Covid ruined Florida!! Remote work allowed high sallaried employees from the Northeast to move here. Now home prices are inflated, insurance prices, which stayed reasonable in Florida for the past 30 year increased four times.
Unfortunately, many native Floridians have been priced out.
I agree with everything you said except the insurance rates skyrocketing had nothing to do with northerners. Caused by roofing scams.
Do not move to Fla. Its too hot, too expensive, too many people, too many bugs and snakes and gators, Home Insurance is too high, Houses are too high, Too many old farts, Taxes have gone way up. Too many visitors in the Winter. You cant go anywhere because of the traffic. Please do not move to Fla You will regret it. Thanks.
@@mannettegaray2589 Awesome! May I ask if you know if there are 'affordable' rentals in Cali? Or mobile home areas...thanks!
@@crossroads7561 There are areas like Bakersfield that are way cheaper than Florida, and are quieter.
Jimmy, we've been here almost 3 yrs after 17 in Richmond, VA and are moving back for many of the reasons you just outlined.

I have some friends who sold their farm in Central Florida and bought a place in Tennessee in 2022...Right now they are selling the Tennessee place and looking for a property in Port Charlotte...The crime in Tennessee is not worth it...They were careful to buy in a nice neighborhood in Gatlinburg, but going to the stores is too dangerous...Plus petty crime is off the charts...They've had their car broken into 4 times in two years...Good luck leaving Florida for the insanity out of state...
Grew in FL, am so ready to leave too, is so expensive! And is gotten really hot!
Thank you for commenting. It is greatly appreciated. Many more videos to come. have a great day.
💯 agreed! Live in FL for 17 years. Loved it but as time went on things changed so much we decided to move. Now we live in SC. Way better but eventually every area will become saturated specially with the open border.
It’s hotter in Tennessee then FLA and no ocean to cool off , guess you pick your poison, no state is perfect , are you saying you didn’t know Fla didn’t have four seasons , that’s very peculiar !
I guess he didn't realize he'd miss the four seasons till he had been there for a while.
I can not wait to get the heck out of this dump.

No HOA fees, outrageous insurance, outrageous property taxes, or Floridas high rate of corruption…👋
You are spot on with all the reasons to not move, live or be here. I’ve been here in Orlando, Florida since 2016 for college, I thought I would stay after college, sadly I’m now leaving this Fall for all the reasons you stated. Im a annual pass holder, living in Orlando suburbs, it still takes me sometimes 1 hour to go 10 miles. My rent more than doubled in 2022, traffic is terrible everywhere, motorists now constantly blow their horns at traffic lights, loud music coming from the cars, accidents galore, the list is actually larger than you covered. I love the beaches here but, driving 1 hour to the east coast side is busy with traffic and crowds at the beach. I’m starting to see tents everywhere around Orlando and Disney World. I’m definitely out of here by Thanksgiving to Christmas 2024. No more hot - humid Summers for me. I need and miss the 4 seasons as well. I’m a veteran and still can’t afford to buy a house here, especially with insurance and HOA dues rapidly increased. Food cost and fuel cost are also extremely high here.
Lol that’s how it is everywhere. Rent is high everywhere, home prices are high everywhere
I live in Elkhart IN! I paid rent of 2400 a month for a 3 bed 2 bath apartment in the neighboring city of Mishawaka. Rent is high everywhere…it’s not just Florida and I just went grocery shopping and it’s still ridiculous. Just fyi! Life has gotten expensive in every state.

Our winters up north are shorter now & our summers are the old Florida temps without the humidity - looking at Florida’s weather now - we definitely changed our minds about retiring there. Not alone the financial situation Florida is in right now. We’re staying put & will travel at our leisure.
That’s what I’m hearing from some that said they are moving back to Michigan. They said the winters are much milder now.
Been living in Florida for 43 years. Will be retiring in two years and will be moving back up north. South Florida is way over valued.
I agree with you. Living on Long Island and bought a condo last year near Clearwater. When we bought the condo the previous owner (friend of the family who passed) her taxes 3yrs prior were 600. We bought it a year ago not homesteaded are 2400. Not looking to leave NY because its actually more affordable here. That seems so unreal but it is when you add what insurance and taxes cost in Florida and food!!! Crazy!!
That’s why it’s best to just visit and leave, especially if you have a RV
I regret not moving down right out of high school from the northeast
Yes, I do disagree about Southern hospitality not because its not a thing elsewhere, but honestly part of the reason one might move to FL is that it IS 'NY South' ie you move to FL from NY/NJ because it is NOT the South.
Boom 💥 - FL is not the south otherwise I damn sure wouldn’t have moved here. LOL
Lol I did a whole video on that. It’s called Florida’s turning into New York.
And people are so rude. They look down on southern people and also view being courteous as a weakness. It's incredible. I would have never moved here...
I'm from NJ. It's great here except the winters are a little too long g but that's why we have central heating. lol. And we have NJ hospitality. Mostly friendly ppl. Also you get what you attract. Smile and everyone loves you!
The US Dollar is DEAD md most of the problems you mentioned about high prices is happening all over America. Let's not forget those Tennessee Tornados and the high insurance required to pay for all the damage!
There certainly are areas in the US that have a high cost of living, other than FL. I think what a lot of Floridians don’t truly understand is that they are paying an extremely (!!!!) high price in FL compared to your wages. And you can cherry pick areas that pay high insurance premiums and/or high taxes. They’re out there for sure. They are the exception, not the rule.
Maybe they don’t realize that nurses are paid twice as much or more in the north, where most areas have a much lower cost of living as well.
I live in a very nice neighborhood in SW PA, my 5BR house is valued around 400K, and my entire mortgage is less than 1300 a month. My taxes yearly are $900 (included in that 1300). That’s it….Even car insurance….i had 6 vehicles, 5 drivers of which 3 were under 25, and my insurance never went above 2800 per year. 3 cars with full coverage.
I think it’s like the old tale of a frog being slowly boiled in water that the frog doesn’t realize he’s being cooked until he’s dead. They just keep piling on expense with no real answers in sight. Maybe there is nothing that can be done about the high insurance. But they could do something about the taxes. I feel bad for the native locals in FL because they will have to try to hang onto the only real hope that property values significantly decrease, which is not typically something to be hoping for.
California and Colorado people already came here and started messing up TN.
Florida season is unbearable....its hot (spring) brutal (summer) hot (fall) kinda hot(winter) then end of jan early feb cold (2 -3 weeks)...repeat
Traffic is very challenging. I rarely drive now, due to drivers who dont know how to drive with courtesy .
Hurricane every year is not what I'm looking for when I retire. 😂😂😂
I rather stay here in slo County California. Best weather year round. Still cheap affordable.
Traffic is terrible everywhere. 'Rush hour' runs from 8am until 8pm.
Good stuff. #1 reason is the natural disaster called Hurricane for me. I lived in FL for a few years (1996 to 2003). I didn't even think about buying a house or anything like that because housing was very expensive even back then. I hated the mosquitos too! And the constant threat of hurricanes every year. I don't miss it. I only miss my family members and friends from there. I live in San Antonio TX and I Iike it better here. Subscribed. I was living in Miami BTW. Even back then, traffic was horrible.
The more you stay in air conditioning the more your body gets use to it...growing up we had no air conditioned schools we were subjected to the heat and we werent as depend it on climate control ..even in the 70s with the energy crisis in doors the a/c was set at 78 degrees
I have coworkers that complained about $500-600+ electric bills in the summer. Mine was only $200, $250 max. Then I learn they have swimming pools and set their AC to 65 degrees. I set mine at 77 and often feel cold. Think there a correlation there?

I lived in NH for over 30 years. Now I am in PA. I miss the beauty and uncrowded nature of the state. ( but not the winters). All areas have advantage and disadvantages which are not often observable until one moves there. FL has low heating costs but high AC costs, so it is six of one, half a dozen, etc. You did not mention crime, which has increased in FL over the years. Low or no sales and income tax mean higher property taxes. ( as in NH) All states collect taxes of one form or another. There is also the culture to consider these days and the polarization of Americans towards one another. I would recommend that a family rent in a new location for a year, to determine if it is the best spot for them; schools, neighborhoods, traffic, crime, etc. PA and VA have busy areas and rural as well, plus 4 seasons.
Your right on the money with all 10 I'm lucky enough to to live in Connecticut, and have a condo in Florida but couldn't do Tennessee no ocean lived on the shore my whole life

The wages Jimmy😂😂your getting paid in sunshine is what the employers say. I remember back in the 90s the first time I lived here I was interviewing for a Budweiser delivery driver. The pay was a joke. In New England these are union jobs. This guy was paying 300 a week salary 😂 I said to him how long is your most senior employee he said he had a guy who was there 9 months. I started to laugh. I said dude arnt you sick of constantly training people. These jobs are 30 year union jobs up north
Accidents are due to distracted driving and speeding. Florida .. the pay is trash and inflation for food is more then it is in nyc

I’m an hour north of Yankee stadium , the winters aren’t anywhere near as bad anymore . We had a lot of days near 50? No snow til January and I literally used the snowblower 3x all winter . But a lot of dark dreary days for sure . We don’t get nice weather anymore til mid may now . But the fall weather is awesome and last til November now!
I moved to Port Saint Lucie FL in 2015. Even in that short period of time I've noticed the changes in traffic. I only moved to FL because my daughters family moved here. The only reason I stay is because of them. I would love to leave for all the reasons you mentioned. Extreme politics bothers me the most.
I could not agree with you more . These have been my daily three complaints to myself since 2020. Confirmation. I’m a registered nurse making 6 digits a year on a budget no credit cards trying to live under my means living paycheck to paycheck. Insurnace , HOA fees are killing Me I am paying close to $750 Monthly with $1000 surprise assessments fees for two years and my two cars $700 just for insurance only . It’s getting ridiculous. I said I would never move for the first time I am open minded to move out of miami
so which insurance stocks are worth buying?
Born and raised Floridian. My family has been in Florida since the early 1900s. It's definitely a paradise lost. Mostly because of the transient population. Wish everyone would go back where they came from. It was much better then.
If your from up North, please go home. Thanks
I was thinking of FL but, after having a house on NJ shore for 30 yrs. Can’t keep worrying all the time about a storm. I landed in TN. If I have the longing for the beach, I’ll rent a house by the beach.
Yes jimmy I miss the fall and going to Fenway. I should have learned my lesson when I lived in cocoa in the 90s and moved back for a great union job. Now I’m stuck with the golden handcuffs. No mortgage but my expenses surpass what I was paying up north. No chance getting my money back anytime soon
Your expenses up north would have gone up, too. Houses are ridiculously expensive, taxes are obscene, government is corrupt, schools are full of Leftist crap (I was a teacher…I know).
Totally understand what you’re saying. Thank you for commenting. It’s greatly appreciate it.
My wife and I are both 62 live in upstate New York a little over an hour north Yankee stadium . Moving to Florida is not an option anymore just for all the reasons you said houses are crazy high and taxes have sky rocketed and forget the house and car insurance . Plus when I was in an Orlando everytime we went out on rte 4 there’s an accident and crazy traffic and delays . And the heat ? Nope no way staying in NY !
Florida is anything but friendly. You go to the Bronx, NY and ppl are more friendly. Believe me.
I’m starting to think the same thing. Thank you for commenting. It’s greatly appreciate it.
@exploringwithjimmyb. You're not complaining, you're stating facts. We have an inherited condo in the Boca Raton area and its very crowded there as well, we hardly ever go there. We must sell it now and stay in New England do to a devastating illness my spouse was given. It's bittersweet, the times we were in Southeast Florida have been much of what you've spoken of, lots of impatient people, traffic, etc. A big part of me loves Florida though in the winter. God bless
Look forward to an updated top 20 list. I’ve lived here for 30 years and never thought it would get this bad in Florida.
I never thought I would get this bad either. Thank you for commenting.
I am enjoying Florida so much more than NJ, I live in the central part of the state with little impact of hurricanes and the taxes and insurance are actually cheaper than NJ. I don't mind the heat and the lack of seasons and traffic is not bad either. I have no interest in Theme Parks and people here is the 55+ community are very friendly!
Wages have always been the problem in Florida. You could buy a nice 4BR with a pool for 150K 15 years ago. But where can you work?
They don’t pay medical the way they do in the north. I don’t know why FL has gotten away with this for so many decades. It’s not just unions up north. Most nursing jobs in my area are not union, and they are paid $30-90 per hour. I know because I used to be the one to approve their paychecks.
My dad was a prominent engineer in the 70s-90s. We wanted to move to FL, and even he said we couldn’t afford the pay cut. And that was BEFORE all these taxes, insurance, cost of living issues.
Tennessee!! I got Memphians telling me about crimes there. And Nashville. It's just colorless to me. Here I go...moving to
Ft Myers. Bought a house. I will certainly go BARE. Dunno about auto though. Hopefully my unincorporated new city would be kind to my property tax
why would low wages change in state that is anti union and anti workers rights benefits..
I'm moving to California where the cost of living, realestate, gas, taxes and insurance is much cheaper. There's less crime and the people are friendlier too.
I live in California. Every cost is insane, as is traffic! Weather is perfect if you can afford everything else.
We moved to SW Florida in 1982. It wasn't bad as far as people and traffic. But it grew so fast. We left in 2006. Moved back to the Midwest. Glad we left when we did. Never really liked it there anyway.
Not sure what you’re talking about with the lack of rain. I live in Tampa and there’s been huge thunderstorms almost every day since early June. Is the weather that different in Trinity?
Thanks for commenting. The last four years we’ve had the least amount of rain in this area. That’s why we’ve had so many water restrictions on watering grass was not a normal situation.
@@exploringwithjimmyb Interesting. But I still think a lot of the things you’re complaining about really aren’t all that bad. Cost of living - Tampa area is right around the national average. Not bad for a major city with lots of things to do. Traffic - Nowhere near as bad as many other major metro areas. Have you seen the traffic in places like Atlanta or Chicago? Hurricanes- Tampa hasn’t had a direct hit in over 100 years. Doesn’t seem to be a major issue for most people who don’t live in flood prone areas.
Been in Florida for 35 years
I am looking forward to leaving. Insurance is out of control and the guy in Tallahassee could care less

Jimmy...I am your neighbor. I am formerly from the communist state of NJ. I LOVE it here. Some validity to your claims here, but overall I hope people listen to your rant here & stay out. Been here since 2012 & not going anywhere. Way way better than that Northeast shit hole.
It's cleaner, quieter, less crowded & yes more affordable. People ARE more friendly here that the NE hands down. I'd love to debate you issue for issue here.
Florida is the sweaty shit hole. You stay down there and work for those slave wages us a bunch of losers.
You have portability on homestead exemption, you can sell your house and transfer what youre paying in taxes to the next house
And in case you haven’t seen lately, Tennessee prices tripled in the last 5 years. But I agree it’s way cheaper than Florida. I got lucky and bought a place in northeast Tennessee 5 years ago, I’m just waiting for my kids to finish school and I’ll go up there for good. My property taxes with no homestead is only $700 a year, and that’s for a farmhouse with 4 acres and a barn.
They are not as friendly because they are not Floridians! Because so many of you have moved here with your nasty attitudes, that we have left. So you are being unfriendly to each other. There are not that many native Floridians left.
When you were about to announce your favorite state to move to, I was thinking "please don't pick my state..." And you didn't. Hip Hip Hooray! Highlighting any state just makes others move there and then THAT STATE has the same struggles as Florida right now. Now I live in a terrible state! Our politics are beyond stupid. Our state is hot and getting hotter. And wages are too low! The education system is pretty bad too. But my property taxes are just $300 A YEAR. I drive a very old (2001) Camry with 600,00 miles on it on roads that seldom congested. As a matter of fact there are days I don't meet another car on the seven mile drive to the city. Thanks for reminding how blessed I am.
The minimum wage in Florida is $13, in my area $15.50 ! Southern states are anti Union. The reason Insurance premiums went up is the Billion dollar claims after the Big Hurricane few years back.
Yes, I do disagree about Southern hospitality not because its not a thing elsewhere, but honestly part of the reason one might move to South FL is that it IS 'NY South' ie you move to FL from NY/NJ because it is NOT the South. Tampa of course gets the states coming down I75 instead of I95, but Tampa isn't Atlanta!
There is a portability clause for property taxes if you are homesteaded. I don’t totally get how it works but it keeps you paying close to what you are paying on your current home. I do know you need to make sure your current home is showing a current market assessment before you sell. No help on a 2nd home
It’s kind of a weird system. It makes you locked into your home and you can’t sell it without getting penalized on your next home.
You are correct.
2010 HOA fees 375.00
2024. HOA fees 900.00
It’s ridiculous! A financial loss.

i moved to orlando in '08 and love it. yeah traffic is bad, the state is overflowing with people escaping the blue states. but overall the only state i would even consider as another choice would be east texas.
You are spot on about all points. 1 more can be added: rudeness. Everyone looks down their nose at you, honks horns all day and people drive like maniacs. I live in Orlando and the drive to any beach is so stressful that i don't even go, and people on the beach are rude and too close. I'm probably going to move somewhere back to Tennessee
Moved here to get away from memphis crime. Memphis is horrible. Don't recommend it.
A lot of people feel like you and me. And I understand this, some spots in Tennessee that aren’t great, but there are some places in Tennessee that are I wish you the best and finding the perfect location.
Wages weren't that good many years ago. My husband went into business for himself. That's the only reason we made a decent living.
Is definitely hotter these past few years. I've live in FL for 29 years and can tell you summers continue to get hotter and winters continue to get shorter.
Crowds in New Hampshire?? Long Island maybe. And you do realize that as someone who moved to Florida from another state, you're part of the problem with respect to traffic and crowding and even expensive housing?
And the Yankees that have moved here are very irritating. and they have brought their politics with them. awful
This entire state is literally 100000% republican run, yet they EASILY tricked you into blaming the people NOT in power? WUT???
Do you really understand what's happening in TN? My friend's daughter recently moved there and houses are super expensive, the weather is far from ideal, especially for old people, cost of living is
super high. Nashville and surrounding areas have hideous traffic, but it's a fun place for young people.
Don't be fooled by the grass being greener on the other side!
Friggin hot everywhere. It's hotter in Polk than it is around Tampa.
he should try Miami :)) holy crap :))) now thats a humidity and high temps :)
You forget HOA fees
I live in Nevada, the wages are no where compared to CA. Many people live here, fly to CA to work, come home on weekends as they make double on CA! They cannot afford a home in CA; so the family lives here, the husband or wife works in CA. Sad.
I love Orlando but the city streets aren't taken care of the DOT needs to cut the grass on roadways and pick up trash
Prices tanking right now in Nashville , be careful
All these complaints.... Ready?.... COME FROM PEOPLE MOVING HERE! we were never meant to have this many ppl here permanently all year long. I'm FROM Florida and tourist jobs are prevalent because you come and spend money then get the he** out.
