Gronk being pushed back makes it to where he can’t make a play. That is a penalty. You can’t determine what might have happened had he not been forced that way. Watching it makes you think he couldn’t have gotten back to the ball but you’re only seeing it one way and that’s him being interfered with.

They probably ruled the ball uncatchable past the point of the egregious holding due to the DB literally moving in the trajectory.
It's a case where the ball isn't uncatchable due to inaccuracy but literally traffic. I don't know how much leeway refs get with that judgement but that ball was not getting home.
I think it was a good "no call". Had Gronk stopped 1-2yrds sooner and made an effort to come back towards the ball than it would've been a clear defensive P.I. but Gronk was in the back of the end zone and the ball was short/uncatchable imo.

Nope, the ball was in the air whe Kuechly mugged Gronk so it can't be holding or illegal contact, the only foul it could have been is pass interference and the argument is (I'm guessing, I wasn't in that 'conference' of refs) is that the ball was uncatchable due to how under thrown it was. Now Gruden makes a good point that Gronk can't make a play for it because he's being pushed, and that's a good argument IMO, however Gronk needs to sell it more like his route is to come back for the ball instead it looks like he wants to catch it back of the end zone.

It's wild that he got the TD with 1:03 left, 4 seconds ran off to 0:59, and they never reset the clock. 4 seconds is the difference between getting an extra play. It's like the refs already wanted the Pats to lose this one.

@SaSpursFan Maybe, though at the pro-level, I'd expect it to be done by NFL officials in the box. But no matter who is in control of it, the refs could have told the operator to reset the clock. They do it all the time.

I'm not a fan of either team, but I have done the research of how this would have affected the standings if the penalty was still enforced, NE scored a TD on the untimed down, and all remaining games in the season stayed the same in regard to the outcomes.
For New England, they would have been 13-3 instead of 12-4. They would have still won the AFC East and get a first-round bye, however they would be #1 seed in the AFC as they would be tied with the Denver at 13-3, but would win the tiebreaker via head-to-head matchup. If the AFC wildcard results remain the same. New England would play host to San Diego and Denver would play host to Indianapolis.
For Carolina, they would be 11-5 instead of 12-4. Their situation would be a little bit messy. They would be tied with New Orleans at 11-5. The tiebreaker would actually be broken by strength of victory as they split the head-to-head matchup, be tied for division record (5-1), be tied for common games (8-4), and be tied for conference record (9-3). New Orleans would actually win the tiebreaker with a strength of victory of .449 (79-97) to Carolina's .423 (74-101-1) and thus win the NFC South and get a first-round bye as a 2 seed. Carolina would be the 6th seed wildcard. For the wildcard round, Green Bay would still host San Francisco however Philadelphia would host Carolina instead of New Orleans
That's one of those calls that it really depends on who is the head ref.
