Storyline:
"Nick Biancci and his son come to town seeking their fortune in a new country after leaving Italy. Nick has renounced any kind of fighting, after fleeing violence in his native Napoli. He works at odd jobs, saving money to help his son pursue his talent as a classical guitarist. Ben hires Nick as a cook at the Ponderosa. Unfortunately, two men learn that Nick has savings, and try to beat him into revealing where the money is. When they threaten his son as well, Nick must make a tough decision in order to protect his son and his son's future." Written by Charles Delacroix on IMDb.com
Reviews:
"The Ponderosa is in short supply of a cook with Hop Sing out of action. But rather serendipitously Ross Martin over from Italy and his young son Michael Davis get themselves rescued by Dan Blocker and the Ponderosa is getting some Italian cuisine.
They are traveling east to New York where young Davis is slated to study music. But the kid wants to be a cowboy and kind of looks up to Hoss as most of the human race does.
Hoss takes a leaf from his father's book on guidance for young people. A nice story indeed." Written by bkoganbing on IMDb.com
"Ross Martin guests as an Italian immigrant and single father making his way from San Francisco to New York City in order to finance his young son's gift for the classical guitar; the two stop off in Virginia City to find temporary work and raise the ire of a couple of roughnecks who seem to have no course of business other than being bullies. This was a common thread in the "Bonanza" stories: innocents challenged by lawless brutes, with the Cartwrights involved for moral (and sometimes financial and physical) support. Here, it's Hoss and Adam who bring the father and son back to the ranch to cook and entertain (seems Hop Sing is away visiting a sick family member), but the villains aren't far behind. Martin's Italian accent is heavy on the Prego Prego, while Michael Davis is curiously out-of-place playing his son (a year later, Davis turned up in Disney's "The Moon-Spinners" as a Greek kid, again having trouble with his English). The gist of this plot, that you shouldn't mess with cowards because everyone's got a fighter underneath, is a bit askew, but the hero-worship sub-plot between Davis and Dan Blocker's Hoss had intriguing possibilities not explored here (and couldn't have been, at least not with psychological depth). A middling episode in the series, which once again puts the focus on select Cartwrights, leaving Michael Landon's Little Joe in the background." Written by moonspinner55 on IMDb.com

The kind of guitar playing you would hear in a little Mexican town cantina
I think everyone watching this is just as wonderful as hoss , we ARE the last wholesome people
Erin you are right I am almost eighty people don't love and repent America it is goingdown
Thank you for that.
Makes me want to go back to the 60s when families watching TV and having dinner and praying together
Damn right bro
Yes, when Martin Luther King prayed for Human Rights. And John Coltrane prayed in his A Love Supreme, yes, the 60s....
God fearing family oriented
Same for me growing up in Great Britain in the 70s.
Hoss. What an awesome guy. Just plain awesome. The world shall never see his kind again. 🥲
@Nica Maybe in another dimension, but not this one.
Dan Blocker Died so young but loved & by so many more than most of us can or will ever say
W N - You do know he was a fictional person, right? Right?
@W N. YOU'RE WRONG!! You just aren't looking in the right places. There are plenty of men like Hoss Cartwright in real life. If you go to a genuine Independent Baptist church where the pastor preaches and believes that the 1611 King James Authorized Version of the Holy Bible is inerrant and infallible, then you WILL find that most, if not all, of the men are as gentle and kind as Hoss Cartwright.
@@jonhohensee3258 You obviously don't realize that there are plenty of men today that are as loving and kind as Hoss Cartwright. You just have to go to a real Independent Baptist church where the pastor preaches and believes that the 1611 King James Authorized Version of the Holy Bible is inerrant and infallible. Most, if not all, of the men in that church are as loving and kind as Hoss Cartwright.
Michael Davis as Mario. What a good looking little guy!!! And great actor!!!😅😅😅😅😅😊😊😊😊😊😊
I really love bonanza movies teaching great lessons about life. It's amazing.
It really is!
What's amazing is how you call a TV show a movie.
Me too
Sorry but they are not movies I know the difference 🌆🌆🌆
I like how the son's gifts fit their personalities. Adam's elegance, Hoss' love for horses and Little Joe's love for guns.
Good western well played Hoss is so caring to animals and humans
I grew up watching Bonanza. One of the all time great tv shows!
Me too!
Me three. Loved it
I actually think it was in the '60s I was real small it only come on like at 10:30 p.m. never in the daytime
Heart warming!!! Make you want to reevaluate yourself !!!
Hoss always played his part as the gentle but tough giant to the T. This was one of the really great series.
Yeah, Hoss was my favorite Cartwright watching this series as a kid.
Binge-watching all of the Bonanza episodes.
Haven't been disappointed yet.
Have a great day everyone!
Warm hugs from the San Francisco Bay Area ❤️🌴
Me too! Can't stop...I'm hooked. Remember watching as a kid and these shows really take me back. I love ' em. Aloha OR.
Ross Martin is quite simply the best there is. He has this thrilling reality about him that is seldom seen these days. Modern day Hollywood could take a lesson..
I hate bullies. I’m glad those two thugs backed down because Hoss would have given them a good whopping. The best episodes are with Hoss. He was the true star of this show.
Hoss had the most episodes premiering his character, however it's disappointing that Adam left the show so early on. Maybe he remained with the show in an alternate universe. 🤷♀️😊
These is one of the best programs i ever been watching All my life since i was 10 years old
Agreed!
@@misslucky5474 well that alternate universe sounds better to be in than this one already.
Hoss has always been my favorite. I like Adam and Little Joe and Ben and Hop Sing too, but Hoss is the one I would've fallen in love with, if the Ponderosa were a real place, and I lived back then. . . 🥰
He wants to go to New York to find peace and quiet?????? 😂😂
I thought the same thing.. 😂
I thought the same too. Kinda shows us how much can change. I reckon he was on his way to Juilliard School of Music 🎶
Maybe in the old west.. 😁😁
It's not like there's ever been any violence there.
@Ashley's Variety: I thought Juliard was in Boston?
Dan was the best guy ever
I still remember the day my mother told me he had died. I cried, I was about eight or so.
I grew up watching shows like Bonanza and Gun Smoke. Such nostalgia.
Bonanza, one of the best things that happened in the 20th century
Great episode, Ross Martin was fantastic.
As always!!
He's ok. I remember him in Wild Wild West. He was good in it. He was born in Poland. Doesn't look ANYTHING Polish.
Thank you for posting this episode. I love it. Sad to think that there is no longer in abundance in this world such hearts like Hoss and all the Cartwright family.
@@grizzlycountry1030 I agree with you. I know many awesome real families that are at least as special as the tv family The Cartwrights.
That's a good reason to follow Jesus, who had a divine personality of love.
Lol. It’s a tv show. A story. If you like it you can write your own story and make up any family you want.
Bet you're fun at parties judy. 🙄
Used to watch this with my grandma as a kid early 70's good times back I then a lil more simple miss those days. 😥
Summers in Calif., visiting my grandmother. Where I grew up there were no Bonanza reruns so running to the TV w/ an ice cream cone to catch episodes was such a treat!
That kid was one of the better musicians that played music on Bonanza, even the adults 👑👑👑👑
This group of men is one of the best actors. Greetings to every one of them
Wonderful. Simply wonderful
Many thanks! Glad you enjoyed it! 😀👌🍿🎬
28:40 All this time I thought the guy was saying, "I hate violins!" Ben cleared the confusion up for me.
I mean, I like guitars, but I also like violins, so I couldn't understand why he was so angry at violins. lol
😁
Greatness once again!
Hoss tasting the spaghetti was incredible!
Imagine if a cheese and sausage pizza was served!
Usually he had hop sings egg rolls
@@noahahlstrom3834 the Rossi family introduced ravioli and pizza to the ponderosa
Another good story about life. Thanks.
Ross Martin was So Talented and Do Many Accents!
Ross Martin did many different accents when he played Artemus Gordon in "The Wild, Wild West" TV show in the 1960s. He was awesome!
He looks so familiar, I'm sure I've seen him in other tv shows.
@@AndrewVelonis Ross Martin was also in an episode of "Columbo" in 1971 titled "Suitable For Framing." He played a famous art critic who murdered his very wealthy uncle hoping to receive a lot of money from his uncle's will. When his uncle left the majority of his money to his former wife, then Ross Martin's character tried to frame his aunt so that he could still get the money. It was fascinating to see Ross Martin play the murderer in a show. I have the first season of "Columbo" on dvds.
@@AndrewVelonis Yes you did if you watched Fantasy Island and Charlie’s Angels and yes he was in Columbo and oh so much more as he was in many movies with his talent I don’t know how they missed him for an Oscar!! It seems so many in the past were passed by total unknown to us anyway and that’s the shame of it!! He truly worked hard to perfect what he did!
Just Let This Be So Differences and SpiritFull It’s out of Business, Very Soon It Is.👍
I love Bonanza. Great guest stars like Ross Martin he was in many great movies and tv shows like Sea hunt, Love boat, Charlies angels, Wagon train, Gunsmoke. 😀
Wild wild West
My childhood favorite show👍🏽👍🏽👌🏾
I remember Ross Martin extremely well in the 1960s TV series "The Wild, Wild West" show. He played Artemus Gordon. I watched that show in the 1960s when I was a young girl and I had a huge crush on Ross Martin. I always thought that he was so handsome. He died in real life at the age of 61 years old in 1981 from a heart attack while he was playing tennis 🎾 in the 100 degrees heat. He was also in an episode of "Columbo" in 1971.
Around 13:30 , Hoss tasting spaghetti 🙂
Most of the times my eyes wet with tears towards the end of the episode of bonanza. It is just great !
Thanks for watching! Check out this film as well if you haven't already: czcams.com/video/NnHC7lMDmMI/video.html
Artimus Gordons cover was pretty deep this time
Wow,Nice Show,Cartwright's were awesome
Bonanza was ALWAYS about a being good person, being kind and considerate to Others. .... Shows like Seinfeld, Friends and Curb Your Enthusiasm have so horribly damaged and perverted the quality of Entertainment that NOW we perceive being sarcastic, horrible and pretentiously superior to everyone as somehow amusing. .... I totally disagree.
They ran away from Italy to the U.S. to get away from "violence".
Cartwrights r very good n helpful to all strangers that come to f ranch, 👍👌😘🥰😍⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Yes they are! 🤠👌🎬🍿
I liked the happy ending. 😊

@@GrjngoWesternSeries Thank you. I will.
Especially what Hoss said to Ben at the end.
How many of these old westerns have to include bullying? Bullying ruins the life of so many these days, it is disgusting!
What an awesome episode
Why do I know Ben once told Hoss that they will brand hundreds of cows a year and asked if he had enough tears for them all? Because Hoss would definitely have empathy for his cattle.
Damn. No way I could burn that little calf either!
Yeah but we all love a nice steak every once in a while and how often do you stop by McDonald's 🤔?
Hey Me...guess Hoss would tell us that we just aren't cut out to be ranchers...but we like watching Bonanza.
There's a few other painful jobs to be done to them also, like disbudding, castration, etc. Of course, these jobs are best done while the animal is young, and the pain is minimised as much as possible.
Hoss was 1 in a million, such a shame he was never allowed to find love
The child actor did a really good job. Usually the kid actors are not that good. He’s the kind of child I would have liked to have been. Mature kind and helpful. I was just an idiot.😩
Thankill forever
Love this episode....
Thank you for your nice comment! Be sure to check out this movie as well: czcams.com/video/oQKXiXAyvDE/video.html
Nick Biannci should have told Ben right away about the bad guys on Ben's birthday and he should have told Hoss about how Mario has been behaving towards him (Nick) since Mario was working with Hoss. I'm glad that Hoss finally realized that and he told Mario about the hard part of ranching.
The episode would have been a lot shorter though.
I like this guy from wild wild west.
About 32 minutes in, the expression in Ross Martin reminded me Rami Malek.
Classic with ross Martin and Mario real nasty thing they did breaking his guitar hoss set them straight
They should have a follow up with Mario after he got to New York and when he had gotten older. 😅😅😅
👍👌👏 Thanks a lot for uploading and sharing this old series.
Best regards luck and health.
Love this episode!!!!
Ross Martin who is great in the TV show wild wild West is terrific here in this episode of Bonanza an Italian immigrant another one who can be pushed so far those two bullies they made them mistake and realizing does this guy who they thought was a whim could fight also who thought who they thought was a wimp could fight and kick ass Ross Martin could do any role in any TV show
I would not have been able to keep a straight face through that breakfast.
Never forget!...
Que saudades.
Foram incriveis. Adoraveis. Obrigada ! Estao para sempre em nossa memoria. No coracao.
The kid had the curse, the curse of being a musician. We want to try other things and realize again and again. A good story.
I was expecting to see the two bullies (I hate bullies) shot at the end. They were lucky they were facing Hoss. Another trip in my time travel machine. Get ready Joe.😅
lovely episode
So wholesome ❤

Moving to New York to escape violence…. How funny
That was pretty sad watching paw blow out a match when I should’ve been birthday candles!
"I'MA FINE!!!!!!!" - THIS WAS A GREAT EPISODE, THANKS FOR POSTING IT - *BRAVO!!!!!!!*
Lovely story.
Is that Artimus of Wild West?
Yes
I hate bullies
Hey Ross Martin looks like Gary Sinese or the other way around😬
❤❤❤❤❤
First!!! LOVEEEEEEE BONANZA
He's going to escape violence and get quiet and peace by going to New York?😂😂
I wonder what happened to the background paintings? A lot of work went into them. ❤
God I Miss My Dad
He wants to go to Newyork for peace and quiet. Uh, ok, not gonna happen
🤣
The men look younger than they did but the end of the series.
ooh! that kid did an outstanding flamenco dance on Dick Van Dyke once!
❤❤❤❤❤❤
I never knew Ross Martin appeared on Bananza
"Artemus Gordon", in 'Wild, Wild West'..
Those men so mean
But second cousin muley Jones had that amazing voice but he on his way to San Francisco
Min. 8:01 - "In this wild country, nobody cares about la musica, only to fight, to fight, no.."
Well, now the fight extended to the outside of the "this wild country"'s borders....invading and occupying independent and sovereign countries..."only to fight, to fight..."...Nick Biachi said it, isn't it ?
I really really like Denver Pyle. I love the role he plays in The Andy Griffin Show. Mario is a beautiful little boy in the show also. I watched Bonanza movie a few weeks ago in a similar situation. However, a Mexican man who was the father of a little Mexican boy was shot and killed without any provocation whatsoever. The killer was just plain mean and killed him just because he could. The Cartwright’s took care him until the killer was arrested and hanged. Unfortunately, every body was so scared of him and his two other equally mean brothers that he was never hanged. The only punishment he received was having all of his hair shaved off because he was so proud of his hair. As far as I was concerned that was a very unsatisfactory ending. Although it was just a made up movie, I think that it would have made him so mad that he would have murdered some people. 😡😡😡🤬🤬🤬
Ross Martin was brilliant in the movie Grip of fear aca Experiment in terror with LEE Remick. but why couldnt he told the Cartwrights in the first place they were trying to reclaim there money.Loved Lane Bradford as Todd.
ross martin jouant dans un épisode de Bonanza et ensuite pernell roberts lui jouera dans les mystère de l'ouest
I wish that Hoss had gone ahead and taken care of the other bully. Actually he was the worst one ☝️ of the two. 😡😡😡😡😡🤬
Some of the Bonanza episodes reference real historical people but it seems like this one is fictional. I couldn't find anything on any famous guitar player named Mario Bianchi.
To hate something like violence simply means one doesn't understand where it is useful, violence does have its usefulness. Almost every sport is some form of violence, even making love so-called is a form of violence. Communication is a form of violence upon the ego, especially when we must confront our own ignorances. The universe used violence to create every planet we now observe as beautiful and want to travel and speculate our imagination about. Another beautiful episode of Bonanza that in the creative script another happy result.
Denver Pyle was great
That sheriff is uncle Jesse
When a child, never took to spaghetti
weeeee is.
Denver Pyle was in the credits but I don't recall seeing him
Denver Pyle was the sheriff in the saloon sitting at the table with Adam.
@@lesmccann3021 You're right. Thank you
Why's those men picking on them because of the contract they were going to school to play music 🎶 adam And hoss to
I boy years later sang LA bamba became more famous. Thank me now
Michael Davis, credit at end of show. Not singer Ritchie Valens.
Since Nick and Mario came to the US from Italy, wouldn't they have landed on the east coast...where NY is? Even if they came through New Orleans, going through Nevada would be way out of the way.
Must be TV logic :)
He said something about going aroud the cape to san fransisco insted of N.Y.
How did the Cartwrights manage to get so much land - and please, nobody try to tell me by hard work. They are sure a likeable bunch.
Ben was a prospector. He hit the BONANZA in silver! The mines on the ponderosa land were mentioned several times. They were dried out when little Joe was born.
