Lubadh V2.0 Firmware // First Patchlets & ‘Sample Tasting’

- Here’s a selection of my first few patchlets with the new Instruo Lubadh V2.0 Firmware, it feels almost like an entirely new module, there’s been so much improvement. This video is really only a first little look at some of the capabilities of the Lubadh, and all in the new ‘Tape Looper’ preset (There are a load of other presets that I haven't had time to explore yet, but i will!).
I had a lot of fun with the new vari-speed record functionality, and I absolutely love the tape emulation that’s on the Lubadh now, its brilliant! This is a very cursory look too, at some of the samples included by Instruo with the new expansion pack for the Lubadh. I’ve barely scratched the surface here, but I wanted to try some of them out, and have a little ‘sample tasting’ if you will, of some of what’s on offer here.
So as I said in the video, everything in this video has been processed through the Lubadh, either recorded, slowed down, sped up, overdubbed, or just for the beautiful tape emulation! I wanted to include some of the samples in the video too, such as the drums and the field recordings as well as some of the other recordings, which I either reversed, or experimented with a little in other ways. Most of the sounds and textures you hear are from the included samples, with the exception of the piano which was sequenced from the Disting Ex with the O_c. Anyway, Enjoy! MM.

@@JeanDearCanada it isn’t! I went there a little while ago on a trip and did some filming, I knew I wanted to use the footage for something but I wasn’t sure what, I used a little for this, but there’s still a lot left, which I’m going to use for more videos in the future
That’s amazing! Is it possible to clear overdub recordings back to the original recording on the Lubad?
Thank you! From memory I think there is a way to do this, by saving the original recording first, overdubbing and then reloading the original again, other than that I don’t recall there being an actual ‘undo’ type function, and I can’t recall exactly how quick this process is! I admit I haven’t used the Lubadh recently though, so my memory’s a little fuzzy! Hope that helps 👍
Beautiful. Are these images from where you live or did you just have them knocking about? Am just thinking I have some footage of a trip to the Scottish highlands in February two years ago which you've inspired me to think about doing something with.
You should absolutely use your footage! I don’t live there, this is all footage I filmed on a trip there a little while ago, I filmed a lot not really sure of what I’d do with it, but some of it found a place here, and there’s plenty more left for me to use in the future!

If you were to buy just one synth right now, which one would it be? excluding the really expensive ones...
That’s a good question! In terms of modules I’d love to add to my case, it’s probably quite a long list, but off the top of my head, I’d love to add a Morphagene to the case, or the Instruo Saich I think I’d have to say, if it were a full synth… maybe the Teenage Engineerin OP-Z? I think that’s a fun looking extremely portable synth!
@@megamodularis I meant like a synth that has a piano, but you can add modules or patches to it, like Modx8, Fa8...
@@celpabedn ah I see, Unfortuantly I don’t have much experience with instruments like that so I’m not sure what I’d recommend! I wouldn’t want to recommend something I don’t know enough about! I can have a little look and let you know what I think if you’d like?
Can you patch line-level audio into the Lubadh's In directly?
Hmm this is something I’ll have to check, I think you’d be alright, as there’s a good amount of gain on the input, but I can’t remember if I’ve ever checked this, I’ll get back to you! 😀
@@megamodularis Thanks a lot. It does advertise that it takes any audio signal, so I can only assume, but I'm still not sure. Everyone seems to put it through a preamp or an external module first in the demos. it makes sense what is essentially a sampler would take all kinds of signals, but the manual makes no reference to what kind.
Yeh I can’t remember what Jason uses in the long V2.0 firmware video where he loops guitar? Might be worth looking at that video, I’ll check next week when I’m back at the synth, if it didn’t have enough gain, I’d probably try using my bastl Ikarie stereo filter, that has a ton of gain available on it, although you may be better with a dedicated module?
@@megamodularis In the V2 demo, he's plugged the guitar into a larachd. In the v1, he's plugged into a prototype called the Ire. Looks cool!
