    Stan began creating Jeno Palucci's Chun King commercials in 1961, and this was among the first. Jesse was already one of Freberg's "stock company players" on his Capitol recordings, and Arte appeared on Stan's "CHUN KING CHOW MEIN HOUR" special in February 1962.

    1 soup can of Campbells Vegetable Beef soup , 1 soup can of Minute Rice and 1 soup can of water , mix in a pan . As it starts to lightly boil cover and remove from heat source. Let set covered for 5 minutes, serve . Reminds me of Chung King . I serve with garlic bread, I call it Bachelor Stew ✌

      2 cups of Minute rice, 1 can blackeyed peas, 1 can green beans, garlic powder, salt and pepper, some butter, water if necessary, 1 can of tuna fish, whatever else you can find in the reefer, & tabasco sauce. Serve hot. Divorced dinner/breakfast/lunch for one.

    Does anyone besides me remember Stan Freburg's Chun King Chow Mein commercial that stated 'Nine out of ten doctors recommend Chun King Chow Mein'...
    And in the commercial they showed only bowls, when the camera pulled back it was nine Chinese doctors eating and one person of another race...
    Can't find it on You Tube...

    Holy Underwear, Batman ! Love these vintage TV commercials ! I myself don't recall seeing this myself (I may have been too young) but what a delight to see veteran pros like Jesse White and Arte Johnson ! And even some of those Asian elevator occupants looked familiar ! THANKS so much for uploading this bodacious "blast from the past" ! CHEERS ! :-)

  • @patrickromanowilliams4878

    Now I want Chinese for dinner.

    • @jamespfitz
      @jamespfitz Před 3 lety +1

      I don't think they had contacts in 1961. First I saw them, and they were a BIG DEAL was about 1974.

    i'd be interested in knowing what other tv or film work the elevator passengers did. aside from "flower drum song," i gather there weren't many opportunities for asian-descent actors in the u.s. back then. is there anything like an imdb for tv commercials?

      While this query was some years ago, I can tell yo many of these Asian actors did do extra work in films. The little man has appeared in many John Wayne movies...My family knew him. Some of the others were members of our family association. If I'm not mistake, the lady on the far right is the actress Lisa Liu who I believe was one of the mother's in Joy Luck Club.

      Update on this...the lady on the fair right is actress Lisa Lu and has had various roles in movies, but most recently, she plays the grandmother Su Yi, in "Crazy Rich Asians". She had had longivity for sure!
