LOVEBITES - Glory to the World lyrics:
Everything around us will fall into dark
When you keep on looking into the sadness
Nobody in this world may ever be free
My hearts will shiver and I can't take deep breath
But rains will end, and nights will pass, griefs will purify
The dawn will come and bring the light in this world
    Grace to my heart, Hallelujah
I know you really care for me
So I leave everything in your hands
You'd walk with me all the way
    Learning to love yourself
It is the greatest love of all
Time will come where we feel the love and the reason to be me
Standing in nowhere and searching for meanings
A sleepless night haunting us like a shadow
A blur in the future, the fear of unknown
There will come a time where we can leave everything behind
Breeze are running through the land and endless to the sky
Together we will make it through this deep night
    Grace to my heart, Hallelujah
I know you really care for me
So I leave everything in your hands
You'd walk with me all the way
    Learning to love yourself
It is the greatest love of all
Time will come where we feel the love and the reason to be me
And rains will end, and nights will pass, griefs will purify
The dawn will come and bring the light and lead us to a new world
    Grace to my heart, Hallelujah
I know you really care for me
So I leave everything in your hands
You'd walk with me all the way
    Learning to love yourself
It is the greatest love of all
Wherever you go, this world that we breathe together,
    Nothing more precious

(Read through for lots of links)
The Halestorm influence is mostly in their name and the fact that they found Lzzy Hale an inspiration as a woman doing hard rock. Some background (forgive any overlap with other folks' comments):
They were formed from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief metalhead and soul of the band) recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" “pocket nuke”); they went and found the two guitarists, Midori and Miyako, who were with other bands, and the whole group then found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time. Miho and Miyako compose most of their music, in collaboration with Mao, the lead composer of another band called Lightbringer, but Midori has also been getting into the act. Asami writes a lot of the lyrics.
They have only been around for just shy of 5 years. They studied all the great historical metal bands going back to Purple and Sabbath, through Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Slayer etc. and they pretty much aced it all. They toured with Dragonforce in 2019, and word from those in attendance is that next time around, it will be the ladies headlining. They have incorporated some of the best of each of those bands into their arsenal, and it seems clear they’re taking it to another level.
They do everything from soulful power ballads to heavy thrash, and almost every song includes face-melting solos by Miyako and Midori. The two guitarists are quite different in style and tone. Midori (blonde ponytail) is the extrovert and speed demon; Miyako is the introvert, with the more soulful feel. Midori uses a cleaner tone, Miyako uses more distortion, pinch harmonics and pedal effects. The contrast makes their duets rich and dynamic. It doesn’t hurt that either one can smoke most of the shredders in the classic metal bands. (As another reactor said, "It seems criminal these two are allowed to be in the same band.") Miyako is also a professional concert-level classical pianist, and some of their songs feature her on the piano.
They are amazing live. You should next check out “Holy War” live: czcams.com/video/bgAxpEpEcno/video.html
Other live songs to check out are "Rising" czcams.com/video/Y_jrhzzcuRU/video.html
    "Edge of the World" czcams.com/video/FGRxXCDtRFA/video.html
    And "We the United" czcams.com/video/8Xucyl_GbGY/video.html
These last two should be done back to back, as they were actually performed in the concert, because they form an incredible journey from darkness and despair to light and hope.
If you want to see what they do with the piano, watch “Swan Song” WITH the prelude, which is Chopin’s “Revolutionary Etude” czcams.com/video/n1BiurShqBM/video.html Miyako wrote “Swan Song” using elements from several classical pieces including the Etude.
For a heart-stopping ballad, “Epilogue” czcams.com/video/1ynnXDfEnnY/video.html (this includes a second song, your choice whether or not to react to both)
Another MV worth seeing: "When Destinies Align" czcams.com/video/hLFelI93VkM/video.html
Other reviewers have described them as alien superheroes disguised as young women, angels sent to save us, princesses of metal, and angry bridesmaids. They have themselves said in interviews that part of their mission is to save heavy metal from darkness and obscurity.
You'll get lots of suggestions, just one thing: don't bother with Bloodstock footage, the sound quality is poor. Best to take suggestions with actual links. Welcome to the Wolf-Pack!

I try and drop their name every time I find someone first discovering the Japanese bands. I absolutely love the lead singer's voice. This song is meant as a positive message for everyone suffering in these dark times of today with all that's going on. That is why it is very "Hope" themed.
Lovebites song always have positive messages in their songs, as a metal band they tend to stay away from the traditional "dark/doom" feel that is common in metal, going the opposite direction.
Influences for them are bands like Iron Maiden, Slayer, Metallica, Pantera, Helloween, Judas Priest and so on. Their name comes from the Halestorm song "Love Bites (and so do I)"
Make sure to check out their songs Break the Wall, Holy War, Edge of the World, Swan Song (the version with the Rev Etude intro), Raise Some Hell, all Live in 2020!

Both types of feelings…released on the same EP. This band is the best in it’s class. Period. I’m old school, I grew up listening to Blackmore, Dio and Rush. They are my favourite artists. But as a band, nobody ever gave me the instant wow factor that I got on first listen that Lovebites did. One song was all it took. They are the only band playing today that I listen to. I appreciate others take in a lot of the other Japanese bands too, and I also realise, from what I’ve picked up, that the likes of Band Maid, Baby Metal and others are bands I should at least listen to once..but I can’t. It almost feels like betrayal. I fell hard for this band because they are so fucking talented. Having done so I’ve become aware of what a really down to earth and *nice* group of individuals they are. So I don’t even try to listen to anyone else. Why bother, I’ve discovered perfection? Trust us when we tell you that although the two tracks you’ve heard so far are the band at their (current) peak, it actually only gets better… especially live.

The only reference that lovebite might have to Pantera would be that Miyako uses the same Dean guitars as did Dimebag back then, although, Miho the boss of the band does love to display all of her favorite t-shirts of all the metal bands she loves and Pantera is one of them. Influences come from the European metal sound mainly British metal like Judas Priest and Iron Maiden, and some hints of the western sound of Metallica and Megadeth as well as Slayer and Anthrax. On a guitar influence Miyako the classic pianist loves Gary Moore and Michael Schenker, Midori is more into Malamsteen and Betancourt while Haruna loves Helloween and Miho adores Steve Harris and Iron Maiden.

@@salsaucedo, I can tell you're not a musician. If a guitarist plays in a band that plays covers, Pantera among them, they're going to pick up something that influences their playstyle. Midori has said playing in the cover band(s) shaped her style, so yes, it has to do with LOVEBITES. It may be a tiny facet of what LOVEBITES is, but it's still there. In fact, Midori reminds me more of Brother Dime than any other guitarist out there right now. So get out of here with that, "It has nothing to do with Lovebites" stuff.

  • @jannashesgbcnemophilafan4317

Great reaction. Great song. Suggest Holy War, and Edge of the world, both live, to start. Lovebites are incredible. Midori , the blond guitarist was at NAMM trade show here in Anaheim, California , in Jan last year. She played Shadowmaker, and Addicted. She is so down to earth , friendly, so accessible. Yes, Miho and Harunna were in Dextrose, and formed Lovebites. Asami was on stage with Halestorm, was really awesome, her and Lazy singing together. They got their name from Halestorms song - Lovebites and so do I. They even have some Dream Theater vibe at times, like their songs: Inspire, and Empty Daydream. Try songs: Burden of time, and Scream for me, both live studio. You'll get them in their studio, out of their white stage attire, really awesome. In Burden of time, Miyako plays guitar and piano at same time. Scream for me packs back and forth guitar solos. Swan song with Miyako piano solo etude.

Just to clarify a little. Asami sang Love Bites (So Do I) when she was auditioning for Lovebites. The band loved it, and also the name "Lovebites", so that's where it came from. They covered the song as well, it's on the bonus live album that comes with Electric Pentagram ltd Japanese edition. Asami is a big fan, and she got to sing the same song with Halestorm. There's footage of it kicking around with Lizzy towering over Asami. It's pretty cool.
Yes, Miho and Haruna are from Destrose. You'll find a lot of connections to Destrose as you experience the different bands. Weirdly enough, Destrose were never really all that successful despite being one of the most popular bands in the scene (although I guess that depends on how you define success), mostly because prior to Miho joining and sorting them out, they couldn't keep a stable lineup for more than 2 minutes at a time and subsequently never got picked up by a major label, so they were an independent band for their entire existence despite having a massive fanbase. But half the female metal musicians in Japan played in Destrose at some point, or played in a band with someone from Destrose. Many tentacles. Hugely influential.
Lovebites live are going to blow you away.
