In modern tanki, its not about the combo anymore, its about the augments. This would be ridiculously powerful with rail hyperspeed and hornet driver, but the same can't be said for other augments.
Railgun is the most difficult long range turret to use due to its slowness and mandatory accuracy. Hornet is also difficult due to its low health this would be corrected if using defender, but focusing on damage or space control (booster and saboteur) seems more important in this railgun + hornet combo.
As it is a combo with slow attacks and little health, you must always be well positioned, this can be difficult if the team does not help. Camping is the safe/correct way to play.
what id they had a mode that was no augements, supplies could only be obtained with drop boxes (or none at all) and the skins for every tank were like the OG combos, just to give that OG vibe
I feel some some combos are almost not even worth using, because nowadays you can die so fast that it doesn’t matter if you’re a hornet or a dictator, if a hovering hull with a broken augment and crisis is shooting at you you’re probably already dead
For example back then I remember that hornet/thunder was a popular combo, but in the Tanki of today I wouldn’t even try this combo I think
I was lucky enough to get hyperspeed rounds from Ultra containers when it came out, and it makes rail OP. with hornet I've been able to get 40+ kills pretty frequently, even when the other team has a fair few 50 prot people. Rail is probably my best turret in the game, and easily my favourite. Also, if this Halloween it is hornet rail DC, it would be the best time for the XP CTF mode on Sandbox with increased golds, which we haven't played for such a long time

That's a very elaborate way of saying you gotta camp.
And yes, I agree with you and other comments, that you can't judge a combo on it's own, it's all about the augment + drone combination. As you said, the order of picking a full combo goes like: augment (something broken, or specific status augment), drone (to pair with the augment effectively), hull (usually based on overdrive) and then protection modules for the most annoying turrets. If you want to do videos like this in the future, try looking into the whole thing, not just one augment because your opinion will vastly change with just a different drone. Or you could avoid the augments, drones and play without them to set a baseline, which will save you time needed to test all the possible combinations. After all, the gameplay changes drastically and you can sometimes barely compare it to the original turret.

DHC is honestly such a fun combo if you go against people using light hulls with no armor for whatever reason. I got 6 kills in a few seconds that way
Death Herald Compensator is a good augment to use but only if you are more likely to do those chain reaction kills, because currently there are so many people with either 50 prot against Railgun or max armour with their Crisis or Defender which makes it hard to use this augment effectively. I just use RAT for the easier turret rotation.
Yeah,of course good.Sometimes I use this combo with railgun large caliber augments with crisis drone that s so cool.
Also i had used railgun raund dest. with cemper drone,it was so broken( 1criticial damage 6700 damage=one shot viking duoble armor)
you could use destabilisation rounds for more crit shots but the normal damage is decreased by 30% i think
Normal damage -50%, Crit chance is always 50% and crit damage +20%
If you wanna crit often use Round Destabilization.
Agreed. Tanki needs to make a battle with no augments overdrives or drones

completely forgot about kits, there were 2 kits in particular I would really really want because isida and the railgun were meta back then(and I was a low ranked player). The tornado and the bloody mary one. I got neither because it was during a time where crystals were harder to get
i personally dont even mind drones that much- i feel like defender is annoying... trickster and the damage one are fun, the mine ones can be annoying if people spam but isnt toooo much of a problem in the average map. i find that 50 prot is the absolute most annoying thing in the game- even if someone has like 25 protection its not that bad, but saying oh hey i dont like this turret and then that turret doing litterally half damage just ruins a lot of fun for me, i used to always use thunder but the protection modules got so so common for it that its generally just underwhelming so i started just using freeze and firebird because they do so much damage it barely matters if someone has protection .-.
They nerfed railgun so much and a lot of times do almost no dmg

Rail can be fun with high caliber augment for occasional 1 shots. Otherwise, it’s kinda meh. But I still use it just for the old time feeling of XP BP battles.
Also hyperspace is fun in certain gamemodes where the enemy team is stacked on eachother

everyone says that this combo is weak and bad but I think it's not, it's been my main combo for 8 years and it has found its place in every meta, the thing is that you need to know hornet rail mechanics really well to be able to play in matchmaking, this is for players who don't have exotic augment for railgun..

The things I would do to play xp/bp on sand box 2v2 again like 2017.
railgun was the only gun i used to play, ever since 2011 till 2022 or smt, i did stop playing after my strong low lvl account was just getting lvls... without getting stronger so it really pissed me off, i got 5 lvls and couldn t increase my power cause i had no kit to buy that i liked, couldn t upgrade my rail either cause i didn t have lvl for it (i had it max m1 at like officer 4 smt, the 4 cubes rank) and i lvl ed up till 4 thingies, was it captain or lieutenant, smt like that, with no increase in power mostly. i did play with t2 thunder sometime cause it just felt stronger sadly, but i really only wanted to play railgun and it felt so weak XD / edit seems its not m0/m1/m2/m3 anymore and i forgot, so i logged in rq in browser and it was mk5-4 thunder and mk 4-10 railgun

Railgun really needs a nerf on its crit damage and maybe base damage too. Light and Medium hulls are dying too easily. But railgun is a fun turret to use regardless of protection. I also wish like you did at 7:38 for a matchmaking mode or more event modes without drones, overdrives, and augments. We need that mode more often.
Matchmaking doesn't exist now either. Augments, drones, aren't the reasons people are leaving. It's the guys that tell new players to "ky". It's the team mates that attack other team mates. It's the toxicity that the admins ignore if someone is paying. Most of that behavior won't fly on other platforms. Add to that the devs literally ignore us most of the time. I would love a game without high powered augments, ODs, and such, but I would love to be in a game that functions for more than one type of players. By the time players decide to leave they've had enough of all of this. They won't be back and new players are usually uninstalling after one or two bad games. Most of the time people complain about their team being bad, but completely ignore the disparity between ranks and equipment. I don't remember much about the old mm, but it was far better than it is now last year before the ddos attack.

You either need large caliber or hyperspeed to be good with railgun, it is such a prot walled turret now. But it will eventually change. Take shaft for example. It was the most prot walled turret two years ago and now none barely even uses shaft prot. Metas change time to time.
0:20 i think everyone used Railgun/Hornet because it was simply the most fun combo. Railgun was and is so much more fun compared to other weapons

I literally don't give a damn about what's popular now. For all the years I play, I only used Isida (no good augments) Viking combo. Works pretty well in small maps especially CP mod.

Railgun still the best turret in game, don't know why people say weak and still need buff? My friend just spam Hornet Railgun combo with Booster or Crisis and he reach 1000+ point per match no problem. 😮
