- I'm a Runner not a Spartain! That means I have absolutely no upper body strength. Could you do a Spartain Race with no training? Sure. Would I recommend it? Watch the video to find out! Theme music courtesy of bensound.com.

I just did the 21k beast yesterday in Newberry, SC. No training, 49 years old. Finished in 5 hours. Very tough day.
In spartan canada we climb ski hills, and it's easy to pick out those who didn't train ... A lot of puking and stretchers
Yup... did the Sprint in Wakefield 4 times. First time I didn't really train and it sucked lol. Trained for the the next year and ran with the elites. Beat my time by 1 hour lol. Came up 126th place. Love Spartan Race's.
Happened to me, volunteered for the race at Big Bear, and I was told I could get into a race for free. I was excited to maybe do a 5k or 10k but they threw me off the deep end straight into the Beast 21k. Still made it, hell of a first race.
This was great to watch!!! Gave me hope for my first one, which is coming up soon.
My first spartan race will be this exact one in December. Thank you for showing me the course
Retitle it to walking a Spartan. Where are the burpees?
Do you have to do burpees for walking?
@@Jess-vw7ej burpees for failing or skipping an obstacle...
Yeah, I feel like walking a spartan is do-able with no training as long as you aren't in complete horrible shape.
In all fairness, it does make a lot of sense to walk after the water obstacles so you don't chafe.
I actually ran my First ever Spartan race like that just to see what I can do before I began to train. Like a "before and after" for results. Naturally, the race I picked was a 15 mile Abomination in Vernon NJ this past April... Still finished it.
omg actually did you like really do that like?
@@worldfamilyenglish I did. Still something I'm quite proud of. Despite the hijinks along the way.
@@wholesome_masochist4113 I'm doing one on Saturday. No training what so ever.
@@worldfamilyenglish Oh? Which type?
this is the best method to get an injury. you have to train yourself even for a sprint, btw well done but be careful
Thank you for this
Very nice video,compliments!!!
Good job! I'm more of a runner also. My fiancé and I are addicted to it and we don't train! It's something fun to do and to try and convince others to do lmao! Great video.
Oh gosh I'm doing this with a weighted vest xD
You both should look into Spartan Trail! Same events but no obstacles.
I wouldnt recommend doing this. You can get seriously injured if you dont train first. I recommend training. Pushups. Sit ups. Jog. Pull upz.
@Rubén Mosqueira Ruiz Start training now. If you feel like you haven't trained enough by the time the Spartan comes to your area, don't sweat it - give it a go, but take it easy and don't take unnecessary risks.
@Rubén Mosqueira Ruiz i have been doing it for 6 years now I have been in the top ten of elite sprint super and beast have done 6 races I train 4 times a week and run every day no smoking no drinking no sodas and other crap work hard for it AROOOO
You forgot burpees
Duuuude! You handled that shit. bravo!
FRNDZNE thank you sir! I sure tried my bestest 😎
Did my first race the other day and didn't train. Big mistake caught terrible cramps in both legs near the end and almost didn't finish. Definitely training for the next one lol.
Haha. Nice job! I’m in a similar position. I signed up for the NJ ultra, but an injury has kept me from training for the past few months. I’m going to be SO undertrained.
Nevertheless, it’ll be a fun time and that’s what it’s about.
OCR Jester no..plz don’t do this..
Awesome doing the spartan race with no training. I plan on doing the spartan races this summer and want to record it also. What type of camera and mount did you use?
Burpees?!
Bro congrats , hell of fun I always saw it like a jungle gym for adults.. but how much to do course and is it timed or just complete at your pace.. great video. Keep it up.
You get a chip that times the moment you pass the start gate and finish line
I did it for my first time at saraland al with no training and I only had to do burpees 3 times but it was really fun I'm thing about doing super but I'm going to train for that one lol
This gives me hope for my first one in June
Great video
What a great video!!!!!
I am hours about to do the same. Haha F’ck it this shows me I’ll suck in some of those obstacles!
Good video man
Did the Sprint in Wakefield Quebec 4 times. First time I didn't really train and it sucked lol. Trained for the the next year and ran with the elites. Beat my time by 1 hour lol. Came up 126th place. Love Spartan Race's
Skipping some obstacles and no burpees??
Hey, my dad was in this race as well. I don't think you guys started at the same time, but he was at that same place with me that day.
Dreamy Lullaby very cool! Yeah my start time was 1pm if I remember correctly. Was it his first race?? Did he enjoy his experience?
@@greenspaces8487 Yeah, my dad and my sister started at 10 am. It wasn't my dads, but it was my sisters. They both had a blast doing it while me and my "baby sitters" watched them go.
Are you going to Castaic this year? I am and I'm so stoked that I got to see 2018 castaic from you. 😁😁
ShoKyre thanks for checking out my video!! Hopefully see you around Castaic this year... and hopefully I’ll be better trained!
I'll be there this year! First time too. Trying to convince my friends to do but have had no luck
Nice one
What camera are you using and did it get damaged throughout
I plan on going next year, what's considerable workout regimen to follow?
Stay away from the keto plans, protein is recommended, Atlas carry, ballet for balance, loads of cardio with weight, pull ups, tire flips, and normal workout regiment daily, I'm doing one this year and I think without a doubt that I would beat it without any problems
Do you have to do burpees for setting the bucket down and resting?
No, that is fine
I did that course, those hills sucked
You guys had a lot of burpees
dovevi pagare burpees senza tentare nuovamente l'ostacolo.. non capisco cosa volevi dimostrare..
Do u get the trifecta sliver metal and the super metal when u run the open
You get a medal for completing the race then you get a 3rd of the bigger trifecta medal.
why is no one doing 30 burpees for each obstacle failed ?? is that not a thing in the U.S ?
Yeah we have to do 30 burpees here in the U.S. I know some people just half ass it and skip the burpees people are usually off to a side somewhere doing them. I try my best to do every burpee I hope he did. No point in doing a race if you don't do it right.
Damn....this is me
Was that the beast race
Props to you bro! I can’t do it without training... 😂💪
it's tough work either way man!
Was this the sprint ?
I'm assuming this was your first one?
RIP to your audio
thanks for the vid I just joined this crossfit club ans they are going to it I will do it
🤣😅🤣😅🤣 NO training !! 😅😅
Did that chick have a beard growing?
Hi! If you don’t mind me asking, what was your finish time?
Alison Olsen I don’t remember exactly but I do know it was juuuuust under 3hrs for me for the sprint that day.
@@greenspaces8487 3h for a spint? a lot of traffic for sure :p
Lol I did the spartan beast 23 km in 3:30, funny difference
Green Spaces 3:54 finish time (beast)on colorado rocky...got my ass kicked for sure
@@nivcrasI guess u are very well trained ...but he was mostly walking ... so yeah ..that's difference between athlete and someone who just isn't.
No training... Next time with some training you can do bettter
I just did it, its not that hard, but i mostly walked
I think Joe Biden can WALK a Spartan open race with zero training.
My dead gramma can probably do it too

When you run a real race like the Big Bear beast or the Utah beast, it’s easy to find the people who didn’t train properly. They’re all lying down on the side of the mountain all cramped up and dehydrated from the brutal hills and 5,000 feet of elevation gain.
Thought it was 1.2k gain?
Looks easy
So you can pretty much skip the whole damn thing
JoeyBrownVlogs sure technically yes you could. The rule is anything you skip you have to do 30 burpees. They do make a point at the beginning of the race along the lines of “a medal you bought vs a medal that you earned.” So they’re fully aware that there are some people that do just skip the whole damn thing for sure.
You can do whatever you want in Open. Elite and Age Group you have to follow all the rules and do 30 burpees for any failed obstacle and only have one try at most.
@@Alyssa684will u get the metal in open ???
1:16 what the hell even is that?
You managed rope climb, all overhead obstacles without any help and untrained at your first race?? Wow, that's awesome. But I simply don't believe it😄also, you've got just one try at the spear throw. After failure, 30 burpees😉I do not see a single one in the video (olympus failure for example). Don't get me wrong. But you have to do this inside the rules. Without, its completely meaningless
Just did my first spartan race (first race of any kind too). It was never insinuated that you had only one try at the obstacles. I saw volunteers actually encouraging people to try again. Its not like you make the race or an obstacle easier by needing to do it another time. Also the spear one seemed like it was just for fun, and you could wait in line to try if you wanted to. And not a single person did burpees for missing. I dont really believe the spear is a real obstacle.
This is demeaning to Fitness.
Says the gamer...
This is a joke. Looks like a bunch of bs. The walking talking and no training. Guys at my work were saying a spartan race was harder than a ironman. I beg to differ
Honestly if you notice they struggled through even the simplest of obstacles. They skipped obstacles they couldn’t handle. His buddy struggled with a 2 m wall. This is a poor representation of what it should look like, but he kind of prefaced that by saying he did it without training. If nothing else it should show you that you can be lazy and put out minimal effort and still make it to the other end. That shouldn’t feel like a victory though. Like oh I did it, no you walked most of the way and skipped the stuff that was too hard. Even the spear was too heavy for them.
It's really on the individual and what time you wanna get at the end, also if you run a competitive race elite, or age bracket, they are supposedly strict about the rules and burpees.
Why does this video sound like dog crap for me?
No only in the beginning
A friend of mine does trifecta weekends with zero training.....step up rookie
