Diamonds are not as expensive as the diamond cartel would have you believe. Finds like this and other places around the world have flooded the market with diamonds. The cartels are sitting on huge stockpiles of them. And under their control will release only a certain amount to keep the prices artificially high.
What if someone were to flood the diamond market while refusing to stop it?

The amount of money you need to spend to extract the diamonds means you cannot break even. The rush died pretty quickly when it was revealed how hard it was to actually obtain them.

@@Hello-wl8is It does. Some resources are just more expensive to extract depending on many factors. I’m Brazilian and my god this hursts to watch. So for anyone wondering the road that’s being build is the Trans-Amazônica a road that began construction in the late 19th century, the road was not finished and very little of it was paved. The newly elected president in 2018 decided to retake the repairs and construction of the trans-amazônica . For the people wondering if it’s going to hurt the Amazon it’s not. It’s a 4 lane road and 2 lane in some parts that just cutting through the Amazon and linking the major cities. It has nothing to do with diamonds and the story he told is probably not true.
that's just another day in the amazons forest destruction

I can never understand people's fascination with shiny hardened carbon
Right because we can afford to lose more strips of the Amazon...
@Dorn Il-Khan 🤣
@Dorn Il-Khan so if you see a woman getting r@p3d your thought process is “I shouldn’t help it’s not me not my business” the Amazon rainforest is not just some Brazilian thing it is a huge staple of the world it belongs to the world we aren’t some Asian or Europeans arguing about laws in some random country we are mostly people of the Americas worrying about the biggest rain forest in the Americas which is something that directly affects all of us
@Kashgari20Kmaybe just maybe the Amazon is more important than just the oxygen it gives? 🤔
Yes bc this is what we need, more of the rainforest dissapearing for profit at the expense of oxygen
More than a carbon footprint
The ocean creates more oxygen than trees, destroying an entire forest wont change shit
@@MarcoMa210 yes it will, you seriously think that it’s helpful to remove one when both can clearly exist
Hot take, the Amazon needs to be excavated, and rediscovered. Obviously we should replant as we dig, and dig sustainably, but there are ancient civilizations lost in those jungles.
you can't just replant an entire rain forest and not have consequences
@@Lucas-yu4bu we have enough tree, like more than any other time in history, and the forest fires we are experiencing as a result are deadly. They release more CO2 into the environment that cars. The wildfires in California and Alaska could be solved by opening up logging operations to cull forests. It would actually create healthier ecosystems, while creating jobs and be better for the environment.
That footage of thousands of illegal miners is actually from South Africa, last year during the Ladysmith "diamond" rush
Been scrolling to see this. Haha thanks
people are focused on the diamonds, but did anyone think about what they are doing to the rainforest? that space is the lungs of the earth, it goes we go.
Right?? They’re literally destroying the most biodiverse place on Earth, I feel like shit about it
Yes exactly. It just goes to show that sometomes humans just cant see the bigger picture and only care about money and power. And look whats happend because of it.

why i fell like nuclear bombs has never been more useful💀
You forgot a VERY IMPORTANT POINT, this happened in 1980, the place it is call Serra Pelada and this road no longer exists, the rainflorest has taked it back.
Good for them! It's their country. Foreign companies have no right to their Dimonds
In the 80’s there was “Serra Pelada” (naked mountain), and that was a massive gold rush. According to wikipedia, “official records: 44.5 tons
Black market estimate: 360 tons” of gold.
I think the ecosystem is priceless, no diamond can justify the lost.
2100 A.D : *"And that's how our grandparents removed the amazon forest from existince."*
😭😭😭
America: y’all all most didn’t dodge a bullet
Me thinking the man yelled stop because he cared about the forest 💀
I fucking hate the state of the world, the Amazon is one of the prettiest things out there, it’s the most biodiverse place on the planet.
Destroying the amazon for diamonds is about the dumbest thing you can do.
It’s actually interesting because the amazon rain forest isn’t actually native. Most of the plants like iowasca aren’t from the americas and were likely brought over and farmed during the Inca and other civilizations age. And once they collapsed they spread around and out grew thier competition.
Dude was driving like gta
The begining looks like the map from choo chok charles
I prefer artificial diamonds. They are so pure.
They had us in the first half not gonna lie
I dunno why, diamons aren't actually worth that much until DeBeers hoards them and slaps a price tag on them
That rainforest existing is one of the major reasons why oxygen isn't as expensive as diamonds.
Soon the tables will turn tho, your 600$ subscription of oxygen a month isn't that far away.
Amazon Jungle: Beginning Of Its End
The amZon jungle is the worst place to go because you'll most likely die before u touch a diamond
RIP Humans. As rip Amazon is happening.🙏🏼
Bro, there was a type of diamond that would be sold for $12 a pack and sold on top of a drillbit, then the fashion industry got ahold of it, renamed it, then made it expensive as all fuck. They're called champaign diamonds
That's when you solve a large number of problems by dropping a hydrogen bomb right in the middle of the area.
leave the damn jungle alone, no one remembered Avitar 💀
Absolutely true, DeBeers keeps them artificially high due to their hoarding and massive controll over the diamond market.
Welp! Time to say goodbye to the Amazon jungle.
As long as it's locals and not rich foreigners are digging or having others dig, I say go for it. It's already been dug up.
You would think they would be more interested in the evidence of Ancient cities along the Amazon river.
Diamonds really ain't that special tbh, the jewelry industry is just wack
Why are we driving a road through the lungs of the earth??
Remember why people are mad, all of a sudden money is on the line and things changed immediately
Brazil is going through a war recently, political wars leading to a civil war, I'm Brazilian and love the forest!!!
Ainda não, está mais pra manifestação e instabilidade política
It's soothing to think that the pursuit for a few shiny rocks will probably lead to the ultimate destruction of a vital ecosystem.
Controversial is when a country elevates itself faster than the Master allows
I wrote a train from Santa Cruz Bolivia to the border of Brazil in the Amazon. The train is nicknamed Tren de la Muerte, or the train of death in Spanish. Not because it was dangerous but because it rode at 20 mph, the slow speed and boredom would kill you
It's amazing how much business is produced when you build a small amount of infrastructure.
There is literally no such thing as illegal miners, until someone ones the property.
They wanna build a road in the middle of the biggest forest… that would disrupt everything
Diamonds are literally one of the most common materials on earth there’s just an artificial shortage of them created by companies
This is heart breaking. Greed is killing the most beautiful party of the world.
Suddenly everybody starts killing each other there just to take over the diamond mines.
honestly, I'm just afraid of the destruction they will cause to the amazon jungle...
This is funny to see after seeing a video about how diamonds are worth very little and you find that out only after you try to resell them
Bruh stop destroying the Amazon!
Leave the Amazon alone. Help our earth, stop destroying nature.
im sorry but why is that white eyed monster staring at us like that in the beginning 😱
30,000 "illegal miners" as in not a mining corporation who payed off politicians for exclusive rights and access to the local people's diamonds.
Diamonds are worthless and you destroyed the forest for the most common rock on earth
illegal miners? you mean locals, and not the rich and big forest destroyer company?
“Illegal miners” 😂
Friendly reminder that you can produce them cheaply and with less environmental impact by making them in a lab. They will be of amazing quality, they just won't be stained with blood.
We should be looking at the Amazon for clues about human history. The amount of structures buried there alone could unveil answers to questions we've been asking for millenia
There is litteraly a park where you can grab chunks of jewels
People think diamonds are super rare but in reality they’re just as rare as stone you can find diamonds literally everywhere
Diamonds are worthless, like when a farmer has too much, he’s forced to control the amount of product that hots the market, to prevent prices crashing.
And now we just lost more jungle then the road would have taken
Hell yeah can’t wait until nothing of the amazon is left
A lab diamond is way better than natural diamonds anyway
Avatar 3 looking wild
Boss was pissed he's wasn't told
Wait till they hear how diamonds aren’t worth much
Guys, diamonds are made of the carbon. One of the most common material in the universe. It is even more common than nitrogen and oxygen combined.
I bet we have enough diamonds already to have everyone "brilliant" teeth and the real diamond armour
There is one supplier in the US who controls like 80% of the market. Gold and diamonds have a 1000% mark up, because they look nice. Lab diamonds cost like a fifth of “natural”, and can be more easily made and tracked. But people perpetuate this lie that there’s a difference, when it’s almost impossible to tell the difference. If you’re gonna buy a diamond, get a lab one.
I was deployed in Somalia in the late 80s early 90s as the US Embassy and talk about diamond trade
Nothing runs like them John Deere grazers
I think humanity has got like 5 more generations before health resets itself.
Diamonds are only valuable because we say so
