In my opinion all these cuts, effects and samples dont fit that well with Techno. I really appreciate your creative mixing but here it kind of ruins the whole monotonous vibe for me.
thats because you are used to a certain thing, this is being creative and standing out, it suits it actually :)
It's not even techno anymore with all of them. It's house or tech house. If he played this in Netherlands, Belgium, London, or Germany, the crowd wouldn't be pleased. Really sucks to because LL is Dutch. I know he's used to all the mixing techniques in his genre, and that's fine to admit he thinks mixing techno would be boring otherwise, but no one wants to hear this set if they're into European techno.
Forgive me Laidback Luke :( I am not a mindless hater.
Great tracks, and after seeing your recent upload, I understand a bit more. It's good you're putting these videos out. You really helped people like me improve at the beginning so I can't thank you enough. But to all the beginner DJs who aspire to mix techno, this will NOT land you gigs. It's just how it is. I recommend if you want to mix like this, look into genres closer to the electro. Look into DJ Stingray czcams.com/video/7AGJp9_B_gM/video.html
Totally agree, but this is kinda a thing in the US i guess
@@pathologicallydead7210 Am from US. Can confirm. People think they need to constantly be touching knobs to be a good DJ. If they want to touch knobs so damn bad they should do live performances, not a DJ set. I am so glad I moved to Europe temporarily and got exposed to the scene here.
Your perspective would completely change if it was live. Different stuff works live compared to listening in your bedroom. The bass. The energy of the room shit just works live that you wouldnt think would work at home or listening on a phone or headphones its completely different live
Wow that was a really nice save at 5:41 def taught me something there! The echo is my favorite effect while DJ'ing you can do so much with it.
So Luke let's get technical, what files are you using, AIFF, FLAC, AFLAC, or WAV? Also why do you go so hard on your levels nearly peaking in the red? ⚙🔬🎛
@@avh700 the mixer in the dennons probably have a limiter like the pioneer so even if you are hitting red you arent clipping.
@@avh700 Probs Wavs or MP3
@@amptechno9079 I prefer AIFF as Wavs don't have ID-3 tags
@@stineldo never heard of id3 tags, thanks hahah
I learn so much from these videos! Thank you for making them, Keep it up!
its honestly so cool to be able to see this perspective of a professional DJ, DJ'ing in a club. So many would be scared to do this lol
AWESOME! Thank you Luke! Been waiting for another tech in my mind!
Mix techno any way you like. That’s how new things emerge.
Love watching your techno sets, I learnt to dj similar style back in the 90s. Great that you show your mistakes and recoveries.

I just stumbled on this video series (In my mind) and LOVE this content. Hell yeah man, I am becoming a HUGE fan of your channel. I am EXTREMELY new to dance music. I used to DJ hip hop and reggae back in the early 2000s on vinyl in Japan and have not touched my turntables in over 10 years. Just now getting back into it but now with a controller and laptop.
Loving your techno sets dude! Wish to hear you play it more often. Appreciate your honesty and openness with respect to fark ups too. Keep it real Luke! ;)
Love this "In My Mind" series. I learnt a lot by watching how your mind worked that cool deck. It was all amazing, Luke!
Same here!
Yes, more in my mind vlogs!! Super insightful brother. Thank you as always for sharing your world and wisdom🙌🙏🕺❤️
Was class to see how you used the effects to save the mix on that track, true DJ’ing skills from one of the very best 👌🏼🙌🏽

Please upload more techno mixes and please explain more about FX and the sweep's.
Thank you so much... You are awsome!!!

So nice! Gonna have to look at some techno mixing for the future!
Finally a nice techno in my mind set 🙏🔥
It‘s great to watch how you use different combinations and play with the different tracks 🎶
( Rocking With the Best ) in techno set sounds very good :))
Keep it up 🔥🔥🔥
A very nice surprise, slowly falling in love with techno more and more 🤙
Try UK prog
type in "the lord leopard - global dance beat" or check my mix on soundcloud its "padman september 2019" its got all kinds of genres
Techno is the best shit ever Serch Sascha Walo he's a amazing techno dj monotone, dark and hard like techno should be
Luke, You are real professional, I am always here for your new video! Thanks for helping.
Love the In My Mind videos!
watching this, now i wanted to go back mixing tracks again (",) awesome mix
Yay I was there. But I don’t remember much. I do remember the chill tribal vibes in the beginning. Definitely noticed the Dirty Talk acapella and Rockin with the best! Also remembered the cameras lol.
Great set happy to have visited Houston that weekend. Ty Sifu
First time listening a techno set from you!!!. It was amazing!...
Now I know what makes me so different to a lot of DJs out there.......thanks for sharing mate.
Such a professional. Love the techno mix. Big up LL!!
So much skills go into your set! Musically and talent. Keep those beats coming! ✌😎

The techno sets are becoming my favorite . Loved this vlog more techno vlogs would be cool. The deck 1 drifting problem reminds me of my technics turntables that 1 pitch always drifted, had to always keep my hand on the pitch control to fix it.
Never thought anything like that could happen in the digital world.
Yasss this the Luke I love this set was just a masterpiece. Love it techno at 10am in morning In honolulu Hawaii
Great set, loved the notes.
Thanks Luke. This mix and narration helping me start mxing again. Appreciating all the work you put in. Scorpio Dragon epic and humble ✨️
All comes back full circle!!!
i don't like much this type of music but you are a master of deejing. Is amazing to se you mix.
Love your vids. But not sure Techno sets can be mixed this way! Just sounds cheesy and too much effects
Hes doing it his way. Would you not say thats better than being the same as everyone else
Listen to mix tape then not human on set
And no techno dj plays two techno songs together that long which makes his music not sound that empty as others'
@@aaronpayne7914 definitely agree with you i couldnt be bothered waiting ten minutes for each track id rather hear the dj manipulating that sound
It’s more interesting than other Djs like Carl Cox or Adam Beyer. Still love Carl and Adam though. They have a cool sound, and fantastic labels
Never thought id love techno so much
Finally, I saw my name in your vlog. Dream come true. Oh, yes!
More "In My Mind" videos, please? I am a longtime fan of it.
Best real DJ in the world 👌🏻 Thanks
Keep up live mixxing... luke is leading the efforts for dj's to go back to live mixing! a true talent!
WOW so much techniques and skills just in one video
Well done Luke
Oh man, I love doing those "save" build ups. 👌
de best from da best series! Cheers from Poland Mr.Luke!
thanks for these videos luke
Oh yes ! a new "in my mind" thk u luke
Loving the technology vibe keep it up. 🤗🙏🏼
Absolutely fantastic - thank you! Dance music is so commercial at the minute (tracks built around lyrics and people like Don Diablo making cheesy tunes with pop stars🙄) so it’s great to hear something more underground. Keep it pumping and jumping 👍
U like underground techno Serch Sascha Walo on youtu he is an great techno dj
This was amazing
This is really Good set🤙🏼
Great techno set
"OH YES" is an amazing cover/ remake/ new track/ whatever you wanna call it. :D
I love it! :)
This is 1st Time in my life to watch someone scratching In Techno Set. Damn 🔥🔥🔥
JB Surti you should check out Jerome hill.
@@detroittechno7904 Definitely gonna check. Thanks
Absolutely killed it🔥🔥💥💥🎆🎆
geweldig man! Back 2 techno!! Doet mijn weer denken aan 1 een dj sets van jou op Awakenings in westergas A,dam eind jaren 90 (ps de track van dj Rolando in dit videootje maakt het compleet!!)
Greetings From Bolivia! You're the Best Bro
Luke you're a true genius!
So sick.
Such a great job man !
Techno, toujours pareil ♥
That mix was Smooth!
Can't believe I missed this and I'm in Dallas:(
this set is so heavy! fucking love it
This is good
Thanks man
Nice mix luke!! Please a techno set whit the denon prime 4 :)
Honestly I really enjoyed the mix don't understand all the hate and logic thrown at his creativity it's just unnecessarily nitpicky, he's having fun and is a pro, has been doing this for years!
TThis is what i play when i go out and DJ at places. xd I do play more other sets aswell.
Hey man. Nice in my mind video.
Anyway it would be so nice to see you in Slovenia 😁
Your Nephew is so lucky to have the worlds best mentor!!!
besides being a producer, really are versatile!!! i didn’t even know you play techno?... i know you been in the game for a while tho,but this was a good surprise... techno never dies! 😎
This series has become my favorite learning videos. Even though you told that the cue was offbeat randomly set, I do have off beat cues which I mark with other color. An as you mention on the video with a -# to know how off it is ! Please tell us what was problem/solution of deck 1. Thanks
Would be really interesting to know how you keep up to date with Techno, given that day to day you generally play current EDM.
I struggle with just the 1 genre !.
I don't think it's so important to keep up to date. It's about the records you select and use. Older ones aren't bad. You can still can create great sets / mashups!
However, keeping up to date and collecting new tracks is good to update / refresh your sets.
You dont have to keep up the same way with techno
I like so much the Resident Advisor CZcams channel, also the web page. Or in Beatport
most of the best "real" techno and house records are 20+ years old...not bad is an understatement to say the least :)
Bro, in these days I think that 80% of the music you hear is already EDM, which is not bad, but EDM has become a music culture more than a sub genre. You almost said it "current EDM" then "old EDM" exists as well. You can even take a look to Spotify. You open the profile of Green Velvet (for example) and he almost has lots of EDM producers/DJs as "similar to". So just let the music flow on your speakers and try different genres.
Luke is the man!
Nice set
I see Techno+Laidback Luke i press like
This is awesome insight Luke, do you ever use the dual layer on the SC6000 instead of running a third deck?
best person on the earth
well, i want techno laidback luke!!
heck yes!
One of your best in my mine vedios
Hey Luke. I have just found a love of techno and was wanting to know if you still stick to your mindset of feel and sound of the track over mixing in key even with such big long mixes? Also I notice that mixing exactly on a 8 count doesn't seem as necessary for you in techno? Is this true or am I just miss counting because I'm too in the groove 😂. Keep doing what you're doing, we love it and love you for it
Man, thanks so much for this tutorial, for everything what u do for dj biginners! Maybe i started a youtube channel with rmx music, but exist a problem, i have a disability to my hands and foots, so, i can mixing just online, not and live. But for me, that are a big avantages, can make a disability dj channel! Not say about my disability cause i want something, not! I want just work for many and hobby.
Thanks bro!
I dont like techno but that mix do great job double ll ❤️❤️❤️
Bah! So much green. Dang you, Denon!
You should do a vlog about track selection specifically for opening DJs. clubs these days want submissions and some of them can be picky, i would love to hear your input on this topic!
So the tracks drifting, is it the players or a problem with engine prime and their beatgridding?
You’re the Man. Thanks for your inspiration. Keep up the good work Sifu.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🍾🍾🍾🍾oh yeah
Perhaps a deep house in my mind? Im not sure if there are different mixing techniques for different genres.
Yessssssss
Yo please release the Oh Yes stems for a remix comp. I absolutely dig this track and I think a lot of us would love to play with it!
16:56 WOW that's some dope stuff
AWESOME I’M LOVING THIS SET ps: ik woon in België❤️
Real dj
Oh yes oh yes....Techno!!!!
Basshouse set please 🙌🙌
Anyone complaining about cuts or effects should look up Dave Clarke. He does similar, but he's predominantly a techno DJ. Doesn't do EDM. There's more than one way to mix techno, and yeah back in the day there were a few people that would cut one track into another
As an aside, I personally love doing long blends. Nothing more satisfying than tweaking and changing the sound of a song until it disappears without anyone even noticing, and I rarely use much more effects than the roll, filter and echo, and even then it's not often. However if someone can use effects and still get it to not sound jarring (which imo is what Luke is doing) it's not bad, it's just not the "style".
What do you have to say about the djs duos that split up? Great set as always 🔥
Hello Luke, can you make a video about how you organize all your music folders? On my drive, my folders are grouped per CD (as I used to rip cd's), and folders per month of downloading beatports, but in Rekordbox I try to create a folder structure per genre and then different subfolders per genre, like elektro +++++; elektro ++++; elektro +++ ect. but because 90% of my music is elektro and I never play a hip hop, r&b song or whatever (just rip them from a cd when I know it's a classic eg "up in here") I feel keeping 1000+ songs in rekordbox organized is a real struggle... Any tips? Once in your dj software, do you keep older tracks, or tracks you would not play life in a separate folder, or do you delete them? Thanks!
