So thats how you get it done in 5 minutes, a little brute strength, elbow grease and speed up cam, cool! Thanks for instructions!đ
Cool comment
How do you determine the size of the replacements?
One thing I've done when seating new studs is after hammering, run the lug nut till it makes contact with the hub. Then bring them on home with the final seat. Keeps the new wheel studs from falling out as you go. As always good tips. Helps show folks you don't have to be a master mechanic, and save themselves some money.
Great tip
@@AllAboutPressureWashing that's what she said
This is happening right now. Thanks so much!
So easy. Just learned. Thank you for sharing
All too familiar with the lug nut issues. I had a dumper trailer that was famous for loosening lug nuts. Got into the habit of checking them every 3 months or less. And placing my hand on the wheels to see if hot during heavy loads or long trips to see if my hub bearings are going bad, good habits to learn. Be safe, my friend. Cheers!
+T.BONE/SIDE OF LIFE good stuff! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you very much for this video saves me lots of hard work. When the hardware is in such good shape. Only one pin was broke off as the other four kept it secure for a few weeks until I decided to research my options. Clearly this is it.. Thanx again. You should remake this video to resuscitate this very helpful knowledge... I doubt they are censoring auto tips..lmoa
+SYMBIOTE DISTORTION haha

Easy to change wheel studs when there aren't brakes to deal with
Believe it or not, there are still some out there that needs to see this.

How can I find the exact stud bolt I need. I bought a Dorman but the knurles were wrong. Canât find anything online for my 5x8 bendron titan trailer
use a torque wrench to help prevent that from happening again!
One of my trailer wheels has bolts instead of stud and nut it also has no brakes, do you think I could remove the bolts and install a stud from the back to convert it
+Hasheem K I have no idea.
Awesome thanks
Thanks
Where did you buy the wheel studs
I didn't see a stopwatch running while you did the job, but I did wonder why you didn't bother torqueing your wheel nuts to whatever the manufacturer recommended. Not sure why they loosened, but might also have been a good idea to spend another "5 minutes replacing the other side's studs while you were at it. Theoretically, the other side's studs have taken the same number of revolutions as the side that failed.
If you are at home or at your shop and have more tool access, those old school Craftsman battery "close quarter" hammers to a decent job of getting studs like that started when space is tight. Did you try to align the new serrated splines with the old ones or were they too reamed out for that to be an option. I noticed one stud appeared to totally separated the the nub actually falling out of the inboard side of the hub. Prolly not much metal for the new stud to bite on if that was the case. Just glad that didn't happen to you at 70mph, regardless of the load.......
Cool comment I guess...
So if my wheel hub is already off can I just hit this thing in with a hammer?
Just whack it till it comes out. Solid advice for every day.
Appreciate all your tips, all good to know. Thanks.
Thank you!
Thatâs a beautiful chrome socket on that impact u have there đđđ⊠just wanted to be that guyâŠ. But seriously though good video
I have a question and a problem , just had tires put on at pep and the tech came in after all tires were installed and said that my one wheel stud kept spinning after he put the wheel in and was tighten it, so now it is on my car and just spins how do I get it off because I'm not paying for that I did not break it the tech did. They want to charge me almost 70$
Was the issue the stud or the wheel bearings?
I think you should be in nascar pit crew, lolđ€Łđ€Łđ
I'm fast!
Is this close to what it would be like on my jeep liberty? The tire shop broke a stud and won't touch my tires now. Trying to figure out how to fix it
Yes same concept. Might be a little harder to get to the studs tho. Some vehicles u need to have the stud at a certain location for a cutout for u to be able to get to the stud or get the stud out. My wifes subaru i had to have the studs at 3 o clock position to get the studs out
That wasnât 5 mins lol
Great video.. so what do I do if while tightening the new wheel studs they spinning..? đ©đ© Iâm using hand tools, ratchet and a socket.!
Get bigger studs
Make sure it is the right size stud and if they are, your holes are probably warped and need a new hub
I wish it was that easy replacing lugs on a truck (you don't have the brake drum to remove on a trailer), but this was pretty darn impressive!
My 2005 6x12' double axle LOADHAULER cargo trailer has the studs in the brake drum. IT really doesn't take much longer to take the hub off depending on how boogered up the cotter pin is.
One of my studs snapped off when trying to remove my wheels off. Half the stud stuck inside the lug but. Can I drive my car with 4 lug nuts instead of 5? It would only be to drive it to the store to buy the studs or is that u safe to do? Thnx and great vid by the way
Yeah you'll be fine with as little as 3 as long as they're spread out as an emergency temporary situation
About to do this to the rusty boat trailer studs, can only hope 5 minutes per stud!
Might take a little longerđ€Ł
@@AllAboutPressureWashing brought out big sledge hammer, made quick work knocking them out !
Nice!
I have a stripped lug nut on the stud on my car 2014 Nissan Altima SV the stud is just turning. I took my car to so many shop and not one shop was able to take the stud off I'm really in need of help taking this stripped stud off I'm trying to put a new tire and replace three new studs I need help getting this stud taken off are you in Birmingham Alabama I'll be so happy to get this stud taken off and my tire replaced I took my car back to the tire place I bought the tire from they couldn't remove the stud they were the ones that stripped the stud
What if the lug is
Stills on wheel and the stub turns
How many foot pounds of torque was your gun I have 550 is that enough ty Steve
No idea what the specs are
Yessssssss
+Scott Cleans It yes sir!
@@AllAboutPressureWashing can i do this to my Mercedes c class.as.well.only difference is i think i have a spacer on mine but my issus us all around pretty much the same ...can u give me sum pointers
What did you do stay up all night to find the easiest wheel studs you could replace
I need size stud ?
my trailer was 20 years old when I got it. I've had it over 10. long story short I had some work done on it and now 12 of the 24 lug nuts are seized on, 4 or 5 have broke. been working on them for weeks to get them off, and to get the lug out. oil, hammer, oil hammer. . . it's not going well. lug nuts too tight are as bad as lugs too loose.
What size is that lug stud?
+Patrick King no idea. They are all different and I took it the the trailer supply place and just matched it up.
@@AllAboutPressureWashing I researched and they always ask wat size 3/8 or 1/2
+Patrick King These were half inch. But they were all different sizes based on the depth of the splines, the thickness, Iâll kinds of things.
lol they kept falling off. just do one at a time haha
+Matt Smith đđ»
I can't imagine a more painful way to die other than not having a stand under the axial in case the jack fails!!! you won't get a second chance or a re-do!!
Maybe a soft hammer or 4x2 wood as a backing to hit the studs out
+jt wilz that would work
The hub is supposed to carry the wiegh no the studs. You need to put hub centric rings.
+Santos MĂ©ndez Trailer wheels are lug centric.
@@AllAboutPressureWashing đ
Can I ask you a personal question? Why don't you have any BRAKES?!???
5 minutes if you have an impact wrench.
+Mary Lamb I have an impact wrench
also, i hate those wheel nut designs. they should all have an end cap on them. good video though
+Matt Smith đđ»
Iâve used a hammer, then a punch and hammer , then tried an air hammer and still wonât come out!
+Angry Herby yikes
@@AllAboutPressureWashing I donât want to but Iâm probably going to have to heat it up
Might have too
Tell me you do not pretrip your trailer without telling me you do not pretrip your trailer.
+Kenneth Draper pretrip?
That took you londer than 5 minutes, garunteed.
Spelling is tough
@@AllAboutPressureWashing yes I had a typo. Atleast I can swing a hammer...
Looks like you need a new wheel
+Chito Cano đđ»
Not a good idea people.. hitting the hub like that with cause bearing damage.. and one day you wondering on the side of the highway what went wrong..
The solution is.. you need to take the hub of the spindle axle and have the hub isolated.. then and only then can you hit the studs out..
The same style cheap spare wheel broke my studs aswell...never again repco rubbish.
What size studs? I have a stud trailer?
Where tf is ur caliber?
Wasn't exactly five minutes lol
What a joke, your video is 5 minutes long, but the job would take more like an hour to do. Deceiving to title the way you did.
+M Royce Brunette It might take you an hour to do. I canât take into account everyoneâs mechanical ability or inclination, But if you have the right tools, the knowledge and the ability, itâs a five minute job.
@@AllAboutPressureWashing I think what he meant to say with his video title was it takes you 5 minutes to watch him do it. There was a lot of 2x and 3x speed editing in the video (thankfully) so I'm guessing it took him quite a bit more than five minutes :-)
A lot longer than 5 minutesâŠđđ»
Amateur way to do it. Didnât clean surfaces. Didnât protect the face of the hubâŠ. And the list goes on and on. The amateur repair demonstrates why the lugnuts were loose to begin with⊠which is why the damage happened to begin with.
Thanks for subscribing and supporting the channel but please stop sending weird pics with animals to my personal email address - it's just weird
what we can see is negligence for sure. you should have checked your trailer before you used it. also..get a gigger and better hammer dude. thanks for sharing. oh yeah that had potential for disaster
Like si veniste a jalartela.
