Solo Journey To Québec, Canada 🇨🇦

- Last month I travelled solo to the province of Québec in Canada. I spent most of my time in Montréal but did manage to explore further out into Quebec City as well. This is a video I put many hours into, and is one of my personal favorites as it embodies the experience of traveling with no real plans. I planned every day the day before each day, and managed to find a new fascination with photographing a different style of architecture than I'm used to. When things don't flow the way you envision, life will take over and create a different path, trust the process. I'd say the journey worked out pretty well. :)

If there is one thing we love about foreigners is when they try or speak some french. Because Quebec has always been fighting to preserve it's French from this huge English North America (8M people vs 360M) so it always brings a smile on our face when people are making some efforts, it's sign of respect for the culture and we would instantly help you out and switch to english for convenience. Thank you for that.

The architecture style you comment on in Montreal is known as Brutalism. Big n the 60s. Montreal is a major centre for it.

The fountain in the court yard of Montreal's City Hall facing the pillar with the statue of Lord Nelson and Place Jacques Cartier at 12:33 is where the movie X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014) was shot as a stand in for Paris !

Great video! For the la for picture is complicated, but you can take picture of people if it's in public area. Those, you don't need approbation to take picture of a building, people, police officers, firefighter, etc.Public erea are like parc, road, sidewalk. If you set foot on a private land, it is no longer legal. But there is private place open to the public that need the approbation of the owners to take picture, for exemple, mall, train station, theatre, etc. Now, because you take picture for artistic reason, you don't need the approbation of the individual is in "a public interest event", like an accident, someone under arrest, etc. You do need the approbation if it's not "a public interest event" and the are the main focus of the picture and are recognizable. So if you are in the street and you take a picture of an public entertainer with a crowd, because the crowd is there by chance, you don't need the approbation of any of them, but you need the autorisation of the entertainer. If you take a picture of a man in the crowd enjoying the entertainer in the back ground, you need the autorisation of the man but not the entertainer. If you take a monument in photo with people looking are passing in the picture, you don't need the autorisation of the tourist, cause theyr are there by chance. So in the métro, you can take picture and video if they are made on a smartphone or a camera without important material, (like a stand), no flash needed, don't block the way of others and don't take picture of emplyees, you don't need a permit of the STM. Otherwise, you need one.(You should print the Web page that says so to protect yourself.) You can complete a form on their web site if you want to use a stand or other reason.
To conclude, you had no reason to be ejected of the subway. You had the right to take pictures. You only needed the okay of the individual. (In Québec, verbal consent is accept in court. You can record the voice to be sure and you are all good.) The picture where the stations and trainset are the focus, you are all good because they were there by chance!

The Montmorency falls in Quebec City are higher than Niagara falls; but they aren't as wide.
As a Québécois im very happy that you explore Québec and that you try several food I hope you could go an other time but visit ''Le Vieux Québec'' Where most parts of the history happend there also you can try more food there my personnal favorite is the Beaver Tails or ''Queue de Castor'' in french and if you are not a person who likes cold weather you could go on a summer the beauty is very nice to see. In the same city you can see ''Le Château Frontenac'' it's very beautiful and it became a hôtel I think so I hope one day you can visit there.

You can take picture of people in a public place. you cannot focus on one person. You have to take a picture of the ''scene''. Its really hard to set the limit for this anyway. And the person has to complain.

Time 28:37. Actually, water freezes exatly at 0 degree Celcius. That it the base of the whole Celsius system... Not at 4.4C but at (Exactly 0 degrees.) Nevertheless it was an awesome video. I hope you enjoyed you're stay seeing the birth of Canada! and next time , I hope you will enjoy the different point of views of nature you can get from this Province, from the different regions composing this great place amongst the world. As a matter of fact, If you want to capture the most wonderful picturesque pictures of Canada I would suggest you to look at the western provinces like Brithish Columbia and Alberta to have an endless source of "Nature like awesomess". Of course if you are more like a city-like kind of the the old way type... the trip you did is the kind everybody would dream of... Well I appreciated you're video an I can only urge you to keep up the good work!!!!

Photographers are within their rights to take photographs in public places and publish them - including photographs of people - even without asking them first.
