The lyrics mean so much more when you realize this was 1965 and the Vietnam War was in full swing. When he sings "Time goes by so slowly and time can do so much." - you can picture him in a fox hole terrified he won't make it home. When he sings "Are you still mine?" and "I'll be coming home, wait for me." it is heart wrenching because you know in the midst of the horror, all he wants to know is that she still loves him.
A time when you needed talent and not auto-tune. :) Its so great seeing people discover good music
OMG, the late Bobby Hatfield....he owns this song. I was 15 years old when I watched him sing this beautiful song on the Andy Williams show in 1965. No auto tunes, just pure raw talent. RIP Bobby. We miss your beautiful voice! 💖 💖💖💖
The first time I saw this particular live performance was about a year ago, here on youtube, and that Last note ... omg .... my eyes widened and my jaw dropped .... I So wish he would have done that on the studio recording; he hits at least 9 notes on that third from last word .... Incredible .... the late, great Robert Lee Hatfield of Beaver Dam, Wisconsin .... thumbs up for us upper midwesterners !
I think we're the same age. I saw it on Andy Williams in 1965, too. I was a sophomore in high school. I'll remember it forever.
That’s pure talent, and an education, and a perfect antidote to Rap.
I was ten and watched it with my mother. We didn't know how fortunate we were.
This song will always belong to Bobby, noone has done it better before or after him. Bobby could have been a pro baseball player, but he made the choice to go with music, I'm glad he did or we would never have had the best version ever done of this song. Bobby was a beautiful man with an amazing voice and a beautiful heart as well. He was unique and there will never be another one like him. Love you Bobby, always!!
This genre is known as "Blue Eyed Soul"
No one sang this like Bobby Hatfield! Him & Bill Medley flipped a coin to see who got to do this single! This was the 60's with no auto tune...lol. Bobby had a cold that night and you'd never know! The Righteous Brothers had times when one would do a solo track. Bobby's performance on this live is even better than the recording they did in the studio!
Bobby had a great voice. Handsome as heck. Heard this when it was released.
Such a beautiful and naturally talented voice...no auto tune back in those days!
I was 15 in 65..A beautiful tenor voice..No other voice like ...
thanks, Kid! and this was LIVE.. and Bobby was nervous b/c his MOM was in the audience... so fantastic.. no screaming or straining.. just hittin' them notes! Look forward to more reactions from you - you obviously are open-minded for listening to this!
Got to be one of the top 10 vocals of all time to include great opera singers.
Bobby, Elvis and Freddie Mercury...the trinity of supreme talent.
Wait until you react to “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling” by the Righteous Brothers. You’ll be blown away even more!
loved Little Latin Lupe Lou too
Nobody does it like Bobby. One of the finest voices of the 20th century.
The song was actually 10-years-old when Bobby Hatfield sang it here, live on U.S. TV's The Andy Williams Show.
I think you would really like another song, where he really cuts loose! He really enjoyed singing that song, every pitch is hit again and again! He had such a very long pitch range and with this one he really goes from the very tip to the bottom. Loved them both ❤️ I first heard them when I was 11 and loved growing up back then. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.
You missed out in so much great music back then! You now have a mountain to climb playing so many classics ! Good luck!
He makes it look easy, like he’s not even trying that hard. Beautiful song, timeless classic for sure
Music from that time WAS REAL MUSIC WITH MELODY. Todays is crap. This man is BEAUTIFUL inside and out and MOST talented singer in so many ways
if you were more open, you might be pleasantly surprised
@@adamskeans2515 there s some good music today with melody OK...yes. Rap...NO.
Perfect reaction, well expressed! ❤️
Someone might have already said this, but, remember that this is live and there was no such thing as autotune. Please listen to "You've lost that lovin feeling" I think someone already has mentioned that. This song is about someone who has been in prison and he is talking to his girl.
Fantastic song, fantastic singer. Thank your for your reaction to this amazing performance.
Thank you!
Love these guys...they were popular when I was a young adult. If you want to check out a great version of this by an incredible artist, check out Austin Brown's solo of Unchained Melody... it's awesome.
I'm going on 66 this summer, love watching the young people react to some of the old music. All the best on your channel! Got to check out more righteous brothers and being a canadian I would really like you to check out some canadian artists like The Guess Who or Trooper. Great music in the 60's and 70's out of Canada
We vacationed in BC or in the nearby San Juans and listened to a lot of Canadian radio in the summers. I remember Trooper!
Never heard of Trooper but I absolutely love The Guess Who
Agreed 67 here I would play the Guess Who album constantly drove my parents nuts.
Trooper is so excellent, so many great songs, treat yourself and check them out!
I think the real magic of Bobby Hatfield wasn`t just what he was able to do with his voice, but also with what ease he did it. He hit the high notes and his face looked as if he was singing a simple, very tamed, and calm lullaby :)))
Isn`t it wonderful that every new generation can enjoy even more good music than the one before them?!
In an interview, Elvis expressed it perfectly when he said "In music, there is enough space for everyone".
All musicians can exist side by side without taking the space away from anyone else.
That`s why I don`t understand why so many people tend to quarrel about who is better and who is the best.
Calm down, people! There are "Number ONE-CHAIRS" for as many artists as you like :)))
This was on the Andy Williams Show...he was also a singer...Moon River...Bobby's mom was in the audience...first time she heard him sing professionally....
The movie was Ghost, with Patrick Swazey, Dimi Moore and Whoopie Goldberg.
Thus is when singers could sing. No auto tune, no gadgets to take away from the voice. See the little mic. This is Bobby's song, others have sung it but no other owns it.
good reaction .....this is a bribe....react to Angelina Jordan, and I will sub....I was in my 20's when this came out....Awesome performance.
You should check out The Righteous Brothers doing...
"Summertime". Bobby sings this alone too.
Thanks for your great reaction!
Stumbled upon your reaction channel just now. Loved the video.
(The floating math equations made me spew my coffee! You're a funny guy!)
Back in my time,
i wish regular dudes dress up again like them days. Us girls like a lil pretty arm candy too sometimes. lol thanku for sharing vid. luved it
That will always remind me of the movie Ghost Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore, Yowza! Movie aside he really did have a remarkable voice such talent it's a beautiful song.
This is top shelf stuff. Ecopolitia.
This sing was on the movie called Ghost with Patrick Swayze
Little mic, not auto-tune (or whatever they use today), just pure pure talent.
Blue Eyed Soul
Just subscribed thumbs up from NYC
Listen to the Rubbettes singing "Sugar Baby Love".
Same year I was born…
💙💙💙
this is the first time seeing one of your reactions and it looks like you are fairly new to reaction videos. First I would like to say, great reaction! Next I would like to say I did subscribe to your channel in hopes that you do more 60's and 70's music. I have a feeling that if you stick to it then your subscribers will skyrocket. Aim for the baby boomers music since there were a lot of people born in that time era and we are now starting to retire and really enjoy young people discovering "our music". to start you off right I would suggest doing these bands since they have a huge fan base. Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody (studio version only for the visual effects since their singing is as good on stage as it was on their albums), Somebody to love, Love of my life (Rock in Rio concert) Then Led Zeppelin - Stairway to Heaven, The Bee Gees - Words, or any song they, don't have a bad one, Michael Jackson - Billie Jean or Beat it or any others, The Rolling Stones - Paint it Black and from there people will start more and more suggesting things from you. Good luck and I will be watching for another video.
The classiest singers always hold back until the climax of the song, usually the end. Linda Ronstadt is another one who know when to let loose and when not to. it;s about the song, not the singer....many have that backwards today.
I was born in 1965...trust me...57 years lol
This song meant a lot to the wives and girlfriends of the men serving
in southeast Aisha, during the Vietnam war!
Because he did this live
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE watch Australian singer John Farnham sing 'HELP' with the Melbourne Philharmonic Orchestra. This is the last song he sings after performing on stage for 2 hours and his voice is still as strong and pure as his first song. I really want to see your reaction. This man is amazing. I have watched many reactions and all have agreed he is superb.
NO YOU DIDN'T cut the video right in the middle of my SOLO!!! 😏 🗣🎙🎶
You did excellent by not interupting him.... now check out the version by Elvis...
The small mic was a mistake. He was using it prior to the performance while speaking to Any Williams. He was supposed to put it down and pick up a larger better quality mic but he forgot. With that performance I don't think it would have made a difference.
I Just Wanna Make Love To You is another great one from them.
listen to Dimash song SOS and Stanger He was born in Kazakhstan so he is Kazakh but his sings in different languages
Today's music seldom creates this type of reaction, which is a shame as music is so powerful in the hands of people, not computers. Imagine many of today's "artists" trying to sing this without autotune!
