The most heroic and idealistic tends to be the most delusional. That, I think, makes them the most beautifully human in my eyes. That is Don Quixote for me. An ideal of heroism and virtue antagonized by reality.

      Yes.
And his delusions were strong enough to make others follow along into his fantasy, from Sancho who played along for the reward and the lols to the guy whose name eludes me that got into Don Quixote's fantasy terms, ended playing the role of the dark knight, defeated him in a joust and bring him back to reality.
      That I admire.

I honestly love how they made Sancho an amalgamation character---because all of them are important to Don Quixote's fantasy.

Don Quixote is such a fun character, even for me who has not read the original novel of Don Quixote. Just waiting for when you give an 'A+' to a character's depiction in FGO.
Also, I have a speculation about how Don Quixote escaped Atlantis : He must have gone to the border of the lostbelt, which separates the lostbelt from the real world (It should be similar to what we were told in Lostbelt 6) and then utilized his NP to revert the mystery at that location to that of 1700s Spain, thus temporarily creating a hole in the border for him to escape.

At the moment, the only character that I see as truly deserving of an A+ right now is Charlotte Corday. I'm wondering if others will get close, but so far... not yet. A+ to me is basically perfect, so there can't really be any blemishes at all.

I think it would be cool if in the future they made a version of Don Quixote that is actually a tall and powerful knight, maybe in the Berserk class, to fit his madness. Like a "what if" version where he was fully immersed in his fantasies and never came back to reality.

Don Quijote appearance in FGO has been something I have been looking forward to for a long time, and, despite the shock of seeing his iconic short and tall man duo switched with Sancho, I liked him here. I always felt that the original novel shared themes with FSN, so Don Quijote would fit there and his story would further develope those themes, and I haven’t been disappointed. Namely, that no matter how naive, impractical and unrewarding a dream might be, and how it might lead to a wretched end, that doesn’t mean it’s meaningless or wrong. At then end, Don Quijote died in despair and disenchanted, regretting his journey and renouncing completely his chivalry books. Yet, he became THE most renowned knight of his country (both in-story and real life, even eclipsing the more “traditional” heroic Spanish knight El Cid Campeador in prestige) worldwide, known and addressed by his own given title at that (a no small feat). His exploits renewed interest in chivalry books, and helped modernize and adapt those values into a new age; inspiring people both in-story and in real life. There is also how influential the book became literary in both its tropes and becoming one of the prototypes of the parody and the modern novel. Even if the book has an anti-escapist message, borne from the disenchantment of Miguel de Servantes from his own experiences in war, his original love for chivalric novels still shines through the novel, giving it a depth beyond negative nihilism, and making it a humanist tale (oh wow maybe I went a too great a tangent).
So, I am glad that FGO continued the themes of his story while making use of its setting. Namely, how a knight like him would fare in a fantastic world that doesn’t gloss over the brutality of said world. I’m glad that Don Quijote still found worth in following his chivalric code into the end, making a very interesting foil to Constantine (who similarly fought for the sake and honor of an “imaginary” lady, Pope Johanna). My only problem with his depiction is me being mad that he wasn’t an even more central character and that he wasn’t in the Camelot Singularity lol (in my opinion he would have made a very interesting foil to the Round Table knights, who had lost their way).
Anyway, thanks for another banger! This video did great in depicting the adventures of Don Quijote! Both FGO and the original.

I am personally not a big fan of what they did with his third skill once it got buffed in JP. I always saw the NP drain as him abandoning his dream to be a knight and returning to reality, but the skill buff removed this aspect. I don't know what was in the interlude that buffs the skill, but I would've preferred him keeping the NP drain but gaining a really powerful effect (like what I thought up was the ability to transfer *all* of his current NP gauge over to his allies instead of just 30%).
