- Watch Liverpool band The Christians perform 'Forgotten Town' at The Shankly Hotel Liverpool, as part of an exclusive Signature Live Sessions gig.
Formed in 1985, The Christians saw international acclaim in the late 1980s and early 1990s with legendary hits including ‘Ideal World’, ‘Harvest for the World’ and ‘Words’. Described as “gritty-centred songs in a sugary vocal shell”, their music blends infectious melodies and warm harmonies with a deep emotional undercurrent.
The band’s name came from the surname of the three brothers originally in the line-up and was also, coincidentally, their songwriter, guitarist and keyboard player Henry Priestman’s middle name.
The Liverpool band released their debut, self-titled album in 1987 , entering the album chart at No.2 with Top 30 singles including ‘Forgotten Town’, ‘Hooverville’ and ‘Born Again’. Following the success, they toured major British cities.
In 1990 the band’s second album, ‘Colour’, went to No.1 in the album chart with hits including ‘Words’, ‘I Found Out’ and ‘Greenbank Drive’.
Today, after eight albums, the band continue to tour extensively in the UK, Spain and France.

Amazing song + musicians. Thank you so much
Stunning 👌
One of my most favourite songs of the 80s👍
I saw them live this week - great song but the best part is that Mr Christian is a better comedian than he is a singer; a great showman.
Brilliant. Still.
Excellent band
Brilliant. Garrys slick
What can I say? I wish I was there!!!
That's Tamla Motown standard. And believe me that's saying something. Long live Berry Gordy.
Anyone else old enough to remember the Fellas playing at the Royal Court Liverpool
1989 being supported by Andrew Roachford ( Roachford )?
Amazing night ;)
P.S. Roachford played @ my younger Brothers Pub in South London regularly during the late 80,s
The Cartoon Pub Croydon ;)
