What if KSP - N1-L3 Soviet Moon Rocket - Making History Up

  • What if KSP is my new side Series to Space Race KSP were we will explore failed spacecraft and rockets and concept missions.
The N1 was a super heavy-lift launch vehicle intended to deliver payloads beyond low Earth orbit. Its first stage remains the most powerful rocket stage ever built, but all of the four flown N1 first stages failed and the project was abandoned. Lots of rocket parts were literally converted into animal pens but fortunately lots of its closed cycled engines were saved from scrap and have since been retro fitted into successful launch systems.
Since the N1-L3 was my most requested video and it's the Soviet counterpart of Apollo 11 (which was so my last video) it was a no brainier to start here. I have also not started on the next craft in this series which gives you guys an opportunity to comment which space craft or concept mission you would like to see.
Even though the N1 was a little smaller than the Saturn V this turned out to be my largest single launch craft file ever, being the first to be taller than the VAB.
Do join our discord's research channel if you would like to see what my current project is and how much progress has been made.

Frankly America was overly dramatic and paranoid at the pretense of Soviet ICBMs and television at the time made things worse for American families. Anti communism politics really killed any alliances with the Soviet Union. As far as I know the possibility of such an alliance would have allowed America to adjust our policies towards the idea of sharing the wealth as much as we try to share power via democracy, but first we would have to prove that certain things like guns and gas are not necessities in our culture but pleasures that kill anyone’s sense of future by not sharing the world for others, to “steal” other’s rights to this country you could say.
I guess you could also say President Trump is the final wall and pinnacle of those beliefs that certain things which have caused harm to other are nothing more than taken for granted, and in fact are a right. But they’re a Market of Addiction, and the rights are excuses to have something that causes tragedy no matter what happens.
So I guess when America reckons we can love what we really need in our lives, that can allow some aspects of what that alliance would’ve been to come back.

Fernando Queiroz Popovic I tried making a submarine once in KSP. The underwater physics don't really exist in game, and moving around under water is quite difficult. There's no buoyancy, it's more like Jool's atmosphere or something. I'm not saying it can't be done, but it wouldn't be as straightforward as some may think.

This was really good, the rocket looked fantastic.
I'm not an expert on space flight and no criticism intended, but why did you not dock the lander with the spacecraft in orbit after leaving the Mun? In real life there was a single use docking port which would have been used when the two craft rendezvoused in Lunar orbit, to facilitate the transfer of any samples, etc the returning cosmonaut would have collected for returning to Earth.
As far as I know, and as I've said already, it was only a single use docking system, the act of using it would have smashed it, making it inoperable, which would have been interesting for the crew, hoping that the thing would release when the time to jettison the lander arrived as they prepared to return home.
You may or may not know this, but the Soviet lander may yet make it to the moon, apparently the Chinese have been in talks with Moscow, hoping they will provide them with the plans for the spacecraft.
Like I said though, really great video, you really nailed how the whole Soviet package would have looked.

    • @Warriorking.1963
      @Warriorking.1963 Před 4 lety +2

@@BusinessMudkip That is true, but it was also fitted with a very basic docking system so it could link up with the Soyuz when it returned from the surface of the moon. This was probably to keep both vessels stable in relation to each other while the cosmonaut transferred his samples over to the Soyuz before returning home.

Hello there! Wanna some history? I know you don't, so...
One day leader of USSR rocket development Sergei Korolev argued with Valentin (not Valentina) Glushko about who is more important: rocket constructor or rocket engines constructor. And after that argument, Korolev decided not to use this guy's engines. That's why N-1 failed. Then, after his death, Glushko became the lead constructor and made "Energia" rocket (google it), which is now the heaviest Russian rocket ever developed. Interesting case, right?

Only one rocket fell back on the Launch pad. It happened on July 1969, days before the official Apollo 11 manned moon landing attempt. Seconds after the launch the system KROD shut down all of the engines due to a fire on engine NO.8. The rest fell back or exploded before/after the impact on the ground miles away from the launch pads. The fifth and sixth N1 were both ready. At that time they truly believed that it could work. Both of the rockets went under some serious developments and improvements. Unfortunately the programme was abandoned before the scheduled launches.
