I have fished this stretch of the madison, its directly below Hebgen, PRIME TIME big brown water! I heard he had to keep this fish because he wasn't able to revive the big guy! Bob is a great fisherman and fly tyer!

Tremendous trout. Congrats! Wish we could've seen him displayed better, though (I think it could have been done without harming the fish). Personally would've liked to have seen this spectacular trophy released, but that's just me.

Amazing fish. Fish of a lifetime as the video says! I'm not one of those catch and release fanatics, but I sure would have liked to see that fish swim again, but I understand you wanting to keep him. None the less, good job!

That's awesome. I've yet to catch my wall mounter. I got close once. But I chose to eat him instead! Maybe ice fishing season coming up will produce the fish that I can tell my children about one day!

It's a weighted nymph fished 'dead-drift' (i.e. with the current) on or close to the bottom.
The strike indicator you saw on his leader acts like a float and will stop or move to the side as a fish takes the fly.

Small nymph's fished on the bottom at a dead drift.. all there is to it. I have never taken a fish that big but I have seen them and vow to one day land one.

holy hell great kaiser! i hate to call it luck, but for anyone who has caught 25+ inch stream trout they know it takes a certain amount, especially for the amount of drag that was taken (from what the film shows anyhow). can't take anything away from that toad!!!
