I feel like at MM1 excellent players were actually dedicated to creating trash levels. So you get a level that not only is trash, but also doesn’t have an easy way out. It’s something you don’t see too much in MM2.

the thing about smm2, if it burns more then like 3-5 lives, it just basically won't show up, and that takes away a lot of the fun stages from super expert runs, like you would never in a hundred years see a muncher speedrun like that (and ofc the bigger hitboxes don't help either)
What makes MM1 very repetitive is that is plagued with 20-50 seconds speed run of...basically the same stages and the only way to die in mm1 is enemy spam, troll level and spike spam
Give them a hot minute and theyll bring it back as "DLC" alongside the costumes...they'll call it the "Legacy Bundle" and it'll be 40$ just to enjoy the game we already have...

I think the troll levels were better; they removed so many of the cool features in SMM2 (like overlapped pipes) that were used to create the more mind-blowy levels. I really would like to see some new SMM1 troll levels played.

Here is the thing regarding the MM2 situation. Yes, it does not have 100 man challenge, and the garbo levels can be very brutal. However in MM1 you find the same formula over and over which is -enemy/spike level spam - japan's 20-50 seconds speed run with little variety - troll level - 90% of the levels are in bowser's castle. At this point It is almost a given this is some sort of trend going on towards not playing MM2( I've seen other youtubers like Poo talking about it as well)
MM2 is the same way. Indicators and constant shell jumps. Repeat through entire lvl. At least MM1 has gimmick levels and interesting work arounds to them.
