Many people do this. So many couples stay together for the sake of the kids and after 25 years you hear that they are getting divorced, or after the kids have moved out of the house. It's sad but happens more often than we think.

I think Will and Jada have different love languages. They don’t love each other the way they want to be loved. He is giving gifts and she’s giving words of affirmation and I think that’s why she had such a close bond to Tupac, he wrote her letters and spoke caring words to her, and Jada is grateful but doesn’t necessarily care Will built her a house or got her big gifts for her birthday. She loves him but he doesn’t give her the love that speaks to her soul. And that’s hard.

I'm South African and where I come from it's fairly common for couples that have been married for decades to reach a point of leading separate lives privately but together publicly and officially (not divorced) till death do them part. Divorce is not even on their vocabulary or it's not a common practice culturally. So what Will and Jada are describing is a weird but a fairly common situation to reach after decades of marriage. I just don't know why they are entangling the public on a private matter that is theirs and theirs only. It's a "each to their own" type of scenario.
That's true. As a South African there's a couple in my family who have lived separate lives for the past 15 years and have been married for 20. They still live in the same house and raise their kids together but the man has a girlfriend. The wife tried to leave after the separation but the man and his father fetched her and paid a fine "damages" to her family. So they're married but not together. They don't even consult each other about stuff unless it concerns the kids but they sleep in the same bed.

I feel like there's a point in a long-term marriage, people just end up in an open marriage to keep the peace. Especially in high-profile marriages because they will lose a lot more from divorcing than just separating. I don't think it's embarrassing, what works for them, works. Sometimes you gotta go to a different room, a different space, and still love each other. People need to be more accepting of other forms of marriage than just monogamous marriages. I'm South African and where I come from it's fairly common for couples that have been married for decades to reach a point of leading separate lives privately but together publicly and officially (not divorced) till death do them part. Divorce is not even on their vocabulary or it's not a common practice culturally. So what Will and Jada are describing is a weird but a fairly common situation to reach after decades of marriage. I just don't know why they are entangling the public on a private matter that is theirs and theirs only. It's a "each to their own" type of scenario.
That's true. As a South African there's a couple in my family who have lived separate lives for the past 15 years and have been married for 20. They still live in the same house and raise their kids together but the man has a girlfriend. The wife tried to leave after the separation but the man and his father fetched her and paid a fine "damages" to her family. So they're married but not together. They don't even consult each other about stuff unless it concerns the kids but they sleep in the same bed.

I feel like there's a point in a long-term marriage, people just end up in an open marriage to keep the peace. Especially in high-profile marriages because they will lose a lot more from divorcing than just separating. I don't think it's embarrassing, what works for them, works. Sometimes you gotta go to a different room, a different space, and still love each other.
People need to be more accepting of other forms of marriage than just monogamous marriages. Also, people tend to forget that Will also stepped out of his marriage. But because he's a man and that is what's expected from them, people REALLY pinpoint to Jada also stepping out.
