      Auto Repair Guys G’day guys, I’ve recently noticed that the belt is ridding forward on the belt tensioner. So it’s overhanging the edge of the tensioner. Just wondering if you have any thoughts of why this might be happening please? Thank you in advance, for any assistance you can give me. I’d greatly appreciate it. Ps Thank you so much for making these videos 😊

      I’ve found out my belt tensioner is a mechanical one, so it’s able to be adjusted.
      Can you please let me know how can can tighten my belt please?

      Tighten the tensioner pully

  • @rotorblade9508
    @rotorblade9508 Před 3 lety +1

    Just did mine today and I broke the old part. First I wanted to release the tension and mistaken the bolt and tightened the aluminum one 😂 until I heard a crack noise then I stopped but actually I didn’t damage the bolt. Next I moved to the correct one and I didn’t have any friends around so I wanted to hold the wrench in position and push the lock pin. Big mistake (well , the part is pretty cheap afternall) the tensioner is quite brittle and the socket hole broke. Not only that, the entire arm of the tensioner broke in half. So you need to be careful and twist gently with both arms to apply even pressure with a T wrench. Then I couldn’t use the method anymore and applied a second strategy. I removed the idler pulley bolt on the tensioner then I pulled the idler with a wrench and done quite easily maybe even safer than the normal method because the pulley stays tensioned after you pull the bolt out.
    Then the new tensioner had a pre installed lock pin. I installed the tensioner and then the belt then I made a spring out of an steel wire (tig welding wire), then I attached a locking caliper on the pin and tied the diy spring on it, then I turned the bolt clockwise and the pin went out :) done. Next I connected the battery and cranked the engine for a second and checked to see if it is lined up well.
