    Very cool review!
    My thoughts:
I learned photography on an old Minolta SRT303 b, my first digital camera was a Sony Cybershot R1 and for some reason I switched later to Nikon. 😅🤷‍♂️
After 10 years with Nikon, then I switched to Sony back (2018). The change was difficult and the menus of the Sony were a horror. In the meantime, I've ended up with the Sony A7 IV and the Sony A1, which I use exclusively for clients jobs, but my always-on camera is the Sony RX100 VII. 😃👌🏽
But what I've always sorely missed is the analog look of Fuji cameras! This is so retro! So brilliant! 🤩
Maybe I'll switch to the Fujifilm x100 VI..... after all, but the lens of the Sony RX100 VII is just unbeatable (even if it's fixed).
My God, these technical temptations are lurking everywhere! 😅

I bought one at the start of the pandemic (it was cheaper than the Fuji X100V) and then I got too sick to use it. I lost a lot of muscle mass, recovery was slow, and now my instincts and muscle memory are all wrong after I got better. Dusting off my LX-100m2, I barely remember how to use it. You're very insightful and amusing and I adore your vids. It's why I'm asking. Other reviewers can be too technical to the point of sucking out the joy from taking pictures.

I just took 1000+ shots over 2 weeks in China and it was superb: street, landscape, night shots, people, architecture, ND to capture waterfalls, IBIS down beautiful caves. Skin tones are excellent. Setting the right film sim makes a heck of a difference.
It’s next off to my Dad’s 90th birthday weekend, then London for a few days, then my nephews wedding where it’ll be great for candids and group shots - fill in flash and beautiful skin tones. I’ll let the pro do their stuff but produce more spontaneous shots for the family album. Silent shutter and IBIS for the ceremony though.
If you only took 50 shots, Best to buy an iPhone 15 Pro Max with the money. It’ll be far more useful for you and can take pretty great shots in daylight as well as night videos. It’s also a phone, boarding pass etc…….😊

Nice review, Tom. I'm waiting (and probably will wait forever) for a compact-size camera like this with dual card slots. As much as I think the camera's performance is up to snuff, I can't justify shelling out this kind of money for a non-professional system, i.e. no dual card slots. I've got one too many compact shooters as it is that can never be backups for my pro bodies. But as for the rest of the specs, this camera looks pretty impressive. Like you, I'll never buy it.

The ridiculously poor availability of higher-end compact cameras leaves interested potential buyers like me shrugging their shoulders and carrying on with my iPhone. Fuji and Ricoh could easily up production but they choose not to. It really needs one of the other big players to bring out something of a similar quality and make it widely available. I just returned mine and keeping my Q3. The autofocus is no faster than the X100V as I had that one 4 years ago. If anything I think its better to go with a XT5 and a 27mm f2.8 pancake. I had to get a thumb grip and hand grip so it ended up being a slightly heavier. But no doubt about it Fuji rushed this out because of the demand for the X100V. The fact they used the same old battery proves this. I am sure 99% of people would have preferred a few more millimeters for the newer battery that already 4 years old. Also they should have gave consumers and option for a 28mm and 35mm choice. I didn't like made in China also and yes that does make a difference.

I was interested in this camera, but after a bit of research I found quite a few gotchas that stopped me from getting one:

Outdated lens with loud/slow focusing (audible if recording video), cannot resolve 40MP wide open, 35mm f/3 FF equivalent so no selfies or landscape or wildlife, a bit tight indoors, limited background separation in full body or even portrait, lower dynamic range than an iPhone 15Pro (tested by CINED), poor-ish low light performance, noisy sensor, no flip screen, poor battery life so you have to buy/bring spares (and potentially remove the tripod plate to swap each time), not great for videography (massive crop in 4k60 or 6.2k, awful rolling shutter, no 3.5mm mic input, ports block grip, drop in dynamic range in higher resolutions), subpar autofocus (improved but far from Sony/Canon), slow performance with film simulations, low resolution hybrid evf, no lens hood / ability to add filters / weather sealing / grip without additional costs, etc, etc.
It’s not for me but it is a very pretty camera :) - I had an X-T3 and X-S20 which I loved, but since trying Sony full frame, there's no going back, the jump in quality, usability, convenience is immense.

Thx for review. Well done! Anyway, camera isn’t actually impressive. The screen is joke. Software looks ugly. Overpriced. Anyway, seems there are fans who are ready to suffer.

Each to their own I guess. Personally, I really enjoyed shooting with it. But I appreciate it won't appeal to everyone. 😅

@@TomCalton I don't think so. Fuji is just a company that cheats money. They have never carefully made any camera. Every Fuji camera is purchased at a price that exceeds the technical standards of three years ago. Of course, its biggest selling point to attract users to spend money is its appearance fifty years ago.

Poor focus and huge camera size (this is especially obvious on the XPRO series and XT series) Fujifilm even shamelessly said that this is because the camera has more functions packed into it. Is it simply because the industrial design is backward? Even in order to catch up with the high sensitivity of Sony and Canon, Fujifilm actually processed the RAW output and sacrificed image quality for noise reduction.
