I pulled this card about 3 weeks after Evolving Skies released from just a few casual pack purchases. I was stoked! I ended up selling it for 350 at the time, and while I regret it a little because I thought it would drop over time (I thought everyone was just hyped on the new set), I've purchased so many more decks with that money and it made it all worth it long term, rushing me back into the hobby full force!
Man, everytime I see a video about this card, I am just so thankful I picked mine up for $250!!!😊

I think the PSA 10s are overvalued, personally. Maybe I'm just sounding like the poor person I am but with an 80% gem rate, I don't get why people don't just buy raw and if they really need it slabbed, just send it in themselves. It's either people FOMOing out and spending erratically or I just don't get it. That black label price seems super sus, too. Kinda like when the WATA Mario 64 sold for $1M.
Black labels are for sure a scam. Psa 10s are mostly reasonably priced for someone looking to get a card that is "mint" (psa standards are pretty low tbh) without the risk of buying a raw card that is not mint. The gem rate is 80% but that doesn't mean 80% of those cards are going to get a psa 10. I send hundreds of cards to cgc , psa, but I'm selective to maximize the chance of getting 10s. I don't send everything
@@Techno4more I feel ya. With a good eye tho, you could pick out strong candidates and go for the 10. If it comes back a 9 or something, crack it out and sell it off. Buying 10s of ultra modern unlimited cards just seems like a waste of money to me.
Black labels aren’t a scam ( anymore lol!) but they are for sure a money making scheme that some genius came up with at BGS. CGC has a Perfect 10 and it won’t command anywhere near the price of a BGS BL. The thing with BL’s is the strictness of the grades. And just how cool it looks versus CGC Perfect.

There appears to be some sort of misconception when using the word rare to describe this card. At almost 5000 PSA 10s of this card, rare is probably not the word to describe it. People just want to use the word rare, because of the dollar value that has been attached to the card. Since the card is readily available through auctions on a daily basis, you just need to have the money to be able to obtain it.
A PSA 10 of a 20 year old Pokemon card with maybe 100 PSA 10s would be considered rare because even if you had the money to purchase one, you may not see one readily available to purchase or to bid through auction. Personally, if the people buying the Moonbreons at these prices are happy, then everyone wins. The Moonbreon still feels like manufactured hype but like all markets, everything gets hyped up here and there.
I would say the term rare has a few meanings here. While it is common for gem rate and graded pop, it is obviously very rare in terms of pack pull ratio. This card is also very very overhyped so you always see it and hear about it being graded 1000s of times, but I wouldn't say that the raw card is common in any way. It does seem like manufactured hype though.
I bought a Darkrai EX full art PSA 8 because in my opinion it is rarer than moonbreon. Even at an 8 there are only about 200 psa 7-10s with packs selling a lot more than the price of near mint. Darkrai EX and gen 5 stuff is very very underlooked, and I think that is where a lot of collectors fail. I almost feel into the trap myself and got a lugia v alt art but I decided darkrai since there is NO WAY that thing is not going to rise, with only 200 NM copies graded at psa (and likely very few remaining ungraded) compared to 1000s of graded alt arts when they are still available in stores and people now know to protect their cardboard unlike 10 years ago when Dark Explorers dropped. Yeah, I really don't know about super high pop cards.
I pulled one some time ago and decided to get it graded. Only got a 9 so I was slightly disappointed but I still consider myself lucky to even have pulled it in the first place
I still can't believe my brother got this out of a collection box, second pack.
Then he bought a Silver Tempest BB and he pulls the Lugia.
I know why i don't have any luck with my pulls, he claimed all the luck...
It’s insane to see what this card has done over the past few years.
This card corrupts the hobby, at my local card shop some kid pulls it out of one pack and the shop owner offers him 200€ convincing the kid to sell it immediately only to then sell it online a couple days after for 400€ and bragging about it to everybody else… sad to see
It's the card shop owner who is corrupt, not the hobby. Any decent person would have told the kid how lucky they are and what it's worth. It is sad though.
@@FlickSwitchGo I wouldn't say the owner is corrupt, I've seen much more bullshit than 50% of value, I've gotten a 25 cent offer on a 3-5 dollar card.
We have collected master sets of swsh - and we still don’t have this card for our binder. It is an icon in swsh - the symbol that you have collected swsh.

i had about 8 or 9 umbreons, (eng/jp) I sold a 4 of them. now I have a psa 10 and a bgs black label 10, but still havent got the korean umbreon. went through 50+ evolving skies boxes, and over 50 eevee hero boxes.. pulls rates are pretty low, cheaper to buy it loose /raw, but condition is everything
So if that is your opinion, are you going to buy several and grade them?
I would love to see a detailed video of the quality of the cards you would receive from the trusted sellers for this card.

People talking shit about the amount of graded moonbreons.... Have you stopped to think about the demand to grade principle here. Yes there may be less 10s in less expensive cards but it's bc when people pull moonbreons they know what they have .. the rush to grade this card is unlike anything. If there was a way to manage percentage of cards graded vs total population the data would tell the whole story. If you just follow math, even with 20 million es packs produced there isn't that many moonbreons in the wild at a 1/2753 pull rate for him specifically. And people forget that modern holds no traction against how overproduced 1999 base set was back in the day. Hundreds of millions of packs. And look at the long term value of base set zard. This is this generations base set zard, at a fraction of the total pop. And back in the day there was no hobby to speak of as far as common people grading cards .... This is a whole new market, it's impossible, literally, to view this in such black and white ways and declare yourself intelligent in your point of view.

If new sellers sell cheaper cards to work up their feedback, it would make more stable foundations to build on. I think a lot of people don’t want to buy from no feedback sellers for a card worth several hundred bucks

There could be a price ceiling on what most people are willing to pay frankly strangers on the internet for raw. Yes the gem rate is high, but surely the online sellers know this too? Makes me wonder if they aren’t confident their card would get that grade. Secondly, that much money, I’d want to really inspect the card in fine detail under magnification - just can’t really do that online.
Not to rub it in for anyone, but I was fortunate to pull this card with my wife from an ETB this summer when they restocked at my local Walmart. It is 55/45 centered towards the left, but within PSA tolerance and it graded a 10. Couldn’t be happier! We won’t sell because we have a fun memory of the experience.
This makes it seem like every NM listing is going to get a 10 at PSA, and that is just not the case.
Alternatively, the graded card shouldn't be worth $800+, when so many grade as 10s

thats not really how it works. its a desirable rare card. that sets the price. also its an english card. in my experience less than 50% of pack fresh hits are 10 quality.
I have a PSA 10 copy and another getting graded right now. I wouldn’t accept less than $1.2K for my dupe if it gets a 10. But then again, Umbreon is my favorite Pokémon
@Tomakze you're not getting 1200 for it but I get what you mean. If prices rose to 1200 would you actually sell it? I have the jap in psa 10 and I probably wouldn't sell it until it hits 4k or whatever.

A store front/ seller has to start somewhere Mason. You of all people should know that. Please don’t put down the 0 feedback sellers. Let’s grow the hobby not put down people in the hobby
For sure, and that's not what my intention was, there are actual scams being ran on tcgplayer by sellers including fake cards being sent and just no cards ever being sent. Sellers would do well to build up their seller rating before throwing a $450 card up as their first listed.
The only time I've ever bought from someone who had 0 sales my card never made it to me and it took me almost 2 months to get a refund
8:10 I'm very curious if you have been doing this yourself. Do you buy raws and grade them for profit pretty much all online when you have a brick and mortar store to run?
If I would to grade my 1 copy an it came back a 10 I would not sell on ebay fees would eat up profit an trying sell local would be a challenge I feel like..

I disagree that the only reason you buy a card is to grade. Once you set a market on that card. That's the price of the card. You're not buying a card just to grade. A lot of people just can't pull them for their collections. So they buy the card. Unfortunately, they gotta pay the market price unless they find someone selling them cheaper because of miscuts, errors, damage, etc. They're gonna have to pay market. Cards are not buyer seller markets. They are a game to collect and play. But the buyers and sellers jumped on the ship, trying to turn it into something it was never meant to be.
How do you calculate the value of a card from tcg? Do you use the last 3 sales and average the price out then pay a percentage or do you go my the median value price?
Just so you know, you never make 300 even if you get that 10. After ebay fees and shipping you're already looking at less than 200 and then there is the new rule on owing taxes on anything sold online over 600.. and one 10 Moonbreon hits that. So another 10-20% loss on taxes and you're talking about either breaking even or making 50 or 100 bucks if you're lucky. Got a 9? Too bad you'll be lucky to break even what you put into it. This is the reason people will pay a premium for 10s. There will always be people wanting to take the easy way and pay a bit for it. That said if you do it right you can make a little. I do it for sure, I've got 15k worth in about 120, 150 slabs I've graded myself. So it can be done. But its not easy.
That 600 tax is straight up theft

@@deathbymazda thatd doesn't avoid taxes at all. The moment the total $ amount of your sales (doesn't matter if its 5 transactions or 200) hits 600 then eBay is sending you a 1099 and you owe taxes on all of it. Selling 6, 100 dollar cards would do the same thing.

I bought it recently and I'm excited for it just waiting for it to get here. I got all the eeveelution alt arts once it gets here. I'm one of the few I guess that really just wanted it for my binder (it's a really nice binder that fits top loaders) 👌

I bought one for 100 off facebook one for 140 one for 230 and pulled one. I sold the 100 dollar copy for 150 and alt art moltress and rayquaza v alt. If those 2 cards didn't get 10s I'd have been upset but I'm good. I only bought 2 japanese ones though :/

My dears, everything gets more expensive over time, even food. pokemon is number 1 general sales are sick. Even if it drops a little, over time it will become more expensive than anything else in the world. and the PoP up is extremely high which however shows it is popular like nothing else. 2020 was the turning point in Pokemon. a new generation is coming. Umbreon will be at 3-5k in 10-15 years and good BGS 10 5-6k. Black Label at 15-20K.
Our children today will have stable jobs in 10 years and then buy their childhood cards, and there is Umbreon like our Charizard back then. + Charizard was in every 2 boxes but Umbreon 50+ boxes. whether tomorrow or in 2 years it doesn't matter at all. The plan is 10 years and believe me you will wish you had paid 1k today. lg
The "GEM rate" you're referring to is based on cards that were submitted, not the overall population of Umbreon vmax Alt arts. Most of the raw ones you buy at $500 are going to be 8s and 9s, and I honestly can't believe you're acting like this is a massive opportunity

One of the most difficult cards to pull and the pull rates will continue to be difficult. Most people want it, but many will not sell the ones they pull, unless you want to pay serious high prices. Nice video. My son pulled one this week from an ETB.

Thats the first card I've ever witnessed with subgrades all 10's.
It's taking me a lot of packs to pull 1. And its oc on top of that. Lol. But I got lucky during the reprint to get a case of booster boxes. I was going to open it one day and I seen the prices on sealed cases of booster boxes rising so I decided not to. And I'm glad I didn't. Because the price of a sealed case is just going above the moon right now. I also have 10 loose etbs set back. I'll eventually use them to offset the costs of me spending so much on evolving skies.. I spent so much $ on that set and i have still not even completed it. I need 5 alt arts still. Rayquaza being one of them.. it's such a rough set

One of the things that I think makes it so rough is pulling an alt art you already have. There are so many it’s just hard to get the one you need. Good luck, I just need the big two, might not ever get them with these prices🤷♂️

I hate to say it, but these card prices are 100% dependent on their high levels of popularity. These cards are not 'rare'. The concept of rareity died a long time ago in pokemon. 9.7 billion pokemon cards printed last year 😵💫 and 7500 psa 10 umbreon vmax cards graded 🤯
Invest in these cards...sure, but understand that you are investing in popularity....not rarity...and 'popularity' has a 100% success rate of fading over time. In my opinion its equivalent to flushing your money, but since nobody gives a sh*t about some random dudes opinion on the Internet...I say to you sir, happy flushing ✌️
I pulled 2 of these from random packs. Not that it's not rare, but people have a really short memory because back when I pulled it, it was really hard for me to find a buyer. The hype around it is manufactored.

Mason we have a Big problem in Europe, i just received Eveelution tins from USA, with Evolving Skies packs in it, the Eveeelution tins i buy in Europe have none, and are sealed in a different way, im pretty they are being harvested, and resealed, who is doing this to children toys, all i can say, you are sick as hell, stop messing with children toys 🧐
