    Congrats on 1.5k! 🎉 I’m so happy I found your channel through TBRathon. I’ve been on a MG kick in the last week since I finished The Spirit Glass by Roshani Chokshi (absolutely beautiful standalone fantasy quest adventure, 15/10 would recommend), so this video popped up at the perfect time.

    I read The Highland Falcon Thief earlier this month and really enjoyed it. I have the Murder Most Unladylike series on my 2024 TBR x

      Eeeee! I really should get back to The Highland Falcon and read it, because I just know that I will adore it! Also - not sure if you noticed, but I realized that I kept forgetting the "un" in front of "ladylike" and it is keeping me up at night 🤣

      @leandrathetbrzero the first one was fun! I am actually reading the rest of the series next month as a lot of them work for a readathon I'm doing. haha I did notice but it didn't bother me so I wouldn't worry yourself 😀 . I think I am reading that series in August as I'm using the first one for Buzzwordathon x

    A middle grade series that my 3rd grade students and I love is The Wild Robot. There are three books in the series so far. The first one is fabulous, the second (The Wild Robot Escapes) is fair, and the third (The Wild Robot Protects) is very good. I also adore The One and Only Ivan. Like the Wild Robot, the second in the series is the weekest, but the third is pretty good.

    The Menagerie by Tui T. and Kari H. Sutherland is a fun fantasy mystery series🐉and even though they might not fall into the mystery genre The Mighty Heart of Sunny St James by Ashley Herring Blake and Moonflower by Kacen Callender are my absolute favorite middle grades so I have to mention them🌻

      I am happy to gain ALL of these recommendations, including those that are not technically mysteries!! (Some of the ones I mentioned are like that too! 😊 ) Thank you for *always* coming with books that I have never heard of!

      YESSS. It's a mystery but set in a fantasy world so I think it could work for both genre teams!

    The middle grade I loved this month was The Amulet of Samarkand by Jonathan Stroud it's fantasy/mystery, it was fun and funny with interesting magic and fairly high stakes. It is for older middle grade bc of a bit of a dirty sense of humor (nothing too age inappropriate)

    • @leandrathetbrzero
      @leandrathetbrzero  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Ohhh I will be looking into The Amulet of Samarkand, Zach! Published in 2003! Love it when we can shout out books that have been out for a couple decades. Good to know it is for older middle grade! Hope you've been well!

  • @thelibrarianofalexandria6200

    Finishing school by Gail Carriger a spy series set in a supernatural 1800 England.
    Amari and the nightbrothers a mystery + fantasy.
    Malamander by Thomas taylor.
    I have read the Robin Stevens books and highly recomend them.

      Don't mind me as I write all of these down to add to my want-to-read list!! I absolutely adored Jennifer Bell's Wonderscape and Legendarium, so I don't think there is anything she would write that I wouldn't immediately love. Amari is on my shelves as is Bookwanderers (both unread...for now!). Oh boy, don't mind me, I am very excited.
      And I was the same! I hadn't gave middlegrade much thought until a few years ago and now I am a huge supporter of people enjoying it at all ages!

    I tried to read all the Nancy drew books in my youth.. hmm not like I am ancient now but you Get it.
    I got halfway. I do think they Are a product of its time. Tried to read some when I was 22. It ehh did not work really

    • @leandrathetbrzero
      @leandrathetbrzero  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Yes, the makes sense, Renee! I can appreciate how this book has influenced the genre for this age category, but I do think that the "of its time" elements and the fact that I missed reading it as a child myself makes it a series I have little interest in continuing. 🤔
