Hahahahaha
@@Spazik86 Money is just paper too, wild shit out here.

@@muzosh i must. Im already into wargaming, there is only so much money in this world
Hes very characteristic kinda like a nerd Brendan Fraiser
Hey Rudy,
Since you can obviously not take out your slabbed cards for color/lighting reference, you might be able to put the cards of "questionable authenticity" into an empty slab instead for reference.
The slabs can't be opened without being broken, therefore it is impossible to put a card in a slab wily nily.
So we can see fuck all and they just as well could be real?
@@mradabaugh9406 Even a partially intact/haphazardly reassembled slab would do the trick for viewing the card through the plastic.
@@mradabaugh9406 Rudy has broken open plenty of slabs to reuse
Could easily use a bandsaw a hacksaw would work just as well just be more difficult setup
5:40 I actually told the difference by the coloring of the hill. It seemed a bit too light compared to the others
Good idea with the credit card - I guess most shady dealers wouldn't let you purchase with CC but if they do, definitely a good option.
In Germany if you sell counterfeits your are responsible for reimbursements, even if you were screwed yourself, so he could get the money back from the person he bought the collections from.
Don't f- with Germany!
f--- Germany!
false, that´s not true. In Germany, as any other part of the world, if you got scammed you deal with it.
@@matiasss550 Maybe YOU do it that way ;) Doesn't change the laws
@@bobdole8830 If you got scammed buying a card person person it doesnt matter where you live. In India, in Germany or in Mars you are done.
Right away:
The borders are too white on the unlimited cards. You can tell instantly without touching them or seeing them up close.
When I first look at the revised duals the biggest thing that stands out is how perfectly rounded the corners are.
Your videos actually saved me $250 on a fake Invocation Force of Will, so thanks, Rudy. Looked at another one side-by-side, did a color analysis, light test, reflection test, and used jeweler's loupes to look at the printing pattern up close. Documented my process and took photographs as best as I could, and even video recorded opening the card's packaging from the seller just in case. Luckily, I was able to get my case resolved and my money back.
Psa and bgs refuse to grade my floppy taco. They keep saying it's counterfeit but I know its real cuz I got it from pretty legit taco bell.
Surprised they didn’t call it authentic altered 🤷🏼♀️
besides the vertical press problems it looks perfect. but it was clearly pressed on a home computer or something.
.3.696969% Women........... we are growing in numbers where...
Always have a reference set of cheap common alpha / beta / revised of each color to compare to.
You can still find junk commons of each type / color for pennies.
Comparing your tropical island to 6 known authentic cards will make sure you didn't get screwed.
plot twist: The cards are all real and he just wanted to keep them
Pretty sure he would've kept them even if they were real.
I dont even play magic or know whats going on but these videos are super interesting to me.
Lost on a full set of power many years ago when ebay was in its infancy. It was literally paper printouts glued to cards.
Dear Rudy,
My name is -Sam- Timmy
Plz Help
Here's a pre-paid postage sticker. Send in all your cards. Giggity.
hahahaha
I don't play magic anymore, Rudy seems to be like the old school magic players I used to meet, cool chill guys that were kind, really enjoy your videos bud !
Did he try consulting the "Guardian of the Lotus" to verify authenticity?
Usually the font is a dead give away for me, they never seem to be able to get it quite right.
5:32 spotted the fake one instantly... the island is green
I was eating and when Rudy pulled the lotus out of the sleeve I almost choked because I saw how purple the lotus was and knew it was fake immediately
I have never played this but still like to watch 😁😁👍👍👍 greetings from the netherlands
"they should be destroyed"
"Agreed, that's why I keep them"
!!!
Fakes are printed in cmyk that makes them more yellowish and old ones are rgb
.
Nah both are cmyk, fakes and og abu
Rudy, you can tell the guys to get a regular land card from revised or unlimited and then compare the backs. That will be the dead give away. Same age cards, but the fronts are different.
I actually own a fake pw9 set that feel like credit cards, I keep them because they are probably the closest I would ever have to the real deal. I would only use them in *CASUAL* play, and very rarely do I use them.
Those "lines" on the lotus look like they were caused by running photo grade card stock through an ink jet printer. I quit using ink jets decades ago because they impregnate the paper and cause those lines on full color prints like photos (or, I guess fake cards). The photo stock mitigates it somewhat, but you can always see them. Fun fact, that's why the colors are lighter overall on the card, because ink jets SUCK at color depth, even now.
At 5:10 I was fairly sure I was able to spot the signs the hand was fake. The colouring was pretty authentic but the textures were all off
I found a lot of ice age that has that original magic Matte finish on the back that’s a good way to know what real old cards feel like
Psssh i get scammed on basic lands😂 25cents a peice😂
Lol
a big giveaway on the lotus is the authentic lotuses have a small dot in the text box under "An" in An Interrupt, and the fakes currently do not have this dot.
"I got some slabs" YEETS some lotus on the table. I don't even play magic I'm here from fucking pokemon card unboxing, what a wonderful rabbit hole.
You should add price for each cards in a corner. You would attract way more people on your channel since 99% of youtube users have no idea about the value of theses cards.
Value only exists amongst collectors. Theoretical value. If you buy one for investment you are buying this value.
@@daneru all value is subjective, unless its food and shelter.
*pays company to authenticate cards* Rudy: *its fake*
I have to stop answering questions out loud when Rudy asks them...
I could tell instantly which one was the fake one and I haven't played MTG since the 90s. Started in Revised and played into Fourth. The coloring was more yellow. In Fourth all the colors got deeper, but Revised had a bit of a washed out hue.
The fake dual also has a green tint on the right inside border of the art work.
I immediately noticed the Lotus was way vibrant.
Hi rudy.. you influence me so much that im planning of opening an LGS. I just want to know if opening booster boxes and selling singles can be a profitable business or im better off just selling sealed products like booster packs/boxes? Thank you and hoping for more viewers for your channel.
Rudy has mad a few other videos on opening a LGS, you should check them out.
Spoiler alert:
Don't open a LGS
The binder full of tropical islands made my jaw drop to the floor. So. Many. Cards.
These are so obvious its painful.... near mint power 9 and duals.... that shine is next level. And I'm sure the thickness is off. Buy a plateau or just some bulk revised or something and compare....
I own 20 reproduction black lotus... the guy I got to grade them could only tell because the corners were the new style cut... $12 with shipping and I've taken them to all manner of legacy tournament.
*takes down notes from video* I'll make sure to do better next time. *Pinky finger by mouth w/ Dr.Evil Laugh*
To anyone who might help a beginning collector out; if I don't have a jewelers loupe to check the rosette pattern, is a light test still a gold standard to check for forgeries? Are there ANY known fake cards that can pass the light test?
I saw immediately the contrast on the front of the lotus was much brighter on the fake and the back was very glossy
6:38 The Rudy-Switchero, swapping his fake for the real
Totally worth messing up the fake theme of the binder...
When you flick it, it sounds different, feels too smooth, glossy and too shiny compared to other cards, smells different too.
Why having so many dual lands ? T-T Players need them for Legacy, Vintage and Commander
Yeah lol
If these counterfeiters find the right cardboard and materials, are they counted as magic card makers or still counterfeiters?
why pay for grading if you can just send them to this Rudy
Look at the red coloring on the back of the black lotus and then the other one the two are orange and the other is red
Not sure if it is fake? Just take the card and bend it. If seller gets mad, it’s real.
I’m more a a Sportscards collector and Jordan . But I have friends who play magic and this past week after watching your videos and others I got into magic my kids like Pokémon but magic made me start collecting . Just in 1 day I spent over a 1000 but mostly buying old magic cards. Either way I already got tons of boxes of the core 2021 and I’m actually excited that I got into magic . I enjoy your videos please keep it up 👍🏻
Wish you showed a close up to see what the rosetta pattern looked like.
93 was when digital presses came out - its unlikely that beta cards were digitally printed the same year new tech was available in its baby stage
the vertical lines are from not cleaning so its likely whoever made that fake made lots of them
the corners on the fake also look a tiny bit off - look at it with a loupe
looks like they had a press person make a plate for a card but its printed on a very new digital press to print it where the offsets or cuts were intentionally placed versus being the result of a non-digital press, which is also very clear in the colors
The dot under the "a" is missing on the fake
The green border around the dual land picture looked significantly different
What about the "light test"? This usually exposes those fakes quite easily.
They sell them as Black Cores and Blue Cores... you just need to wish for them to be your proxies... and take a thick sharpie and write proxy on the cards... is that really a difficult thing to do???
Where are the floppy tacos in the video?
You know its serious when the paper of the letter has been dipped in taco cheese
Whispers from a distance I died Rudy hahahahah
what keeps someone to invest 300k$ for example and start print perfect fakes? i dont play magic but i often watch this videos, and seems to me that with time and money someone can print a fake 100% equal to original. I mean, we can clone a dna... cant we clone a piece of paper?
that reflectiveness thing really isn't coming across on camera...
what does the text look like with a jeweler's loupe on those fakes?
honestly, how hard would it be to buy a real industrial printer same type of the one they used back then and actually print "real" cards
All the ink and supplies were different as well
This can't be for real a quick glance and you can see they're fake.
How do you think he got his massive collection of black lotuses and Power 9 cards.
the tropical island doesn't seem so obvious, i think that it seems the same until you see the reflection.
I really wanna hear a message to you rudy by the specials every time I see you open a letter
my question, where's the 5th nut located? for that matter, where is the 3rd and 4th?
The brown colour of the fake Black Lotus is 10000 times cooler than originals.
trop island boarder line does not look right looks rough at best.
Hi Rudy, since I'm planning then to get some of the more expensive Revised Duals (Sea and Tundra), would you then suggest playing it safe and buying it from a big store? (CF, CK, maybe you? XD)
The border on that card has 2 different shades of black why do all fakes do that?
Awkward moment during the "hidden fake card game" when I guessed it instantly and was correct... I thought the coloring was off!
I don't even play Magic and I genuinely enjoy your Channel lol
A Timmy and his money soon part company
5:36 .. Holy Crap, this time Rudy got me.
Weight test, green dot test and UV test isnt to hard to know before buying expensive cards -.-
Collected and played magic since back in the mid 90s. (Quit playing around nemesis. Sometime after urza's saga 2004 ish). In 1999 my dad bought me a set of power 9 for high school graduation. He bought them from a reputable store (it was a baseball card shop that wouldn't have sold fake on purpose. I have had these cards for 20 years. They look perfect. Almost too perfect. If they had been bought recently I'd say they were fake. Not sure the fakes back in 1999 could have looked this good. Right now I'm scared to get them graded or checked only because, 1) i have no plans of selling them. They were a gift from my dad. 2) i would rather think dad got me a real set. So very torn about finding out.
That’s an incredible grad present, hope they aren’t fake dude. How real do they look?
@@elipetrou9308 when I got it the back lotus was valued at $300. He bought the set for $1000 and some work on the interior of the shop owners car. I've known the owner of the shop since I was born. Dad has known him for 50+ years. If they are fake, the owner didn't know. I can't see fakes being that good back in 1999-2000 when I graduated. I'm almost sure they are real
@@elipetrou9308 I've seen fakes from the early 2000s and they look and feel fake. These look and feel like real magic cards and they were bought in 1999. I know they were in the store since 1997... so if they were fake, they wouldn't look and feel real right?
@@joeshaver1104 that’s fair, do you think you know enough to tell. Such as rudy does?
@@elipetrou9308 not personally. I have buddy who owns a shop that says they look real but I have never taken them out of the cases (after I put them in the cases years ago). Basically my assumption that they are real is based on 1) the person who sold them is honest and I've known him forever. 2) in 1999 I don't think they made fakes that looked that good. I've compared mox pearl to other mox pearls and it looks legit. 3) I don't have a reason to think they are fake. Nothing about them makes me think they are other than how good they look (not perfect but for sure never shuffled without sleeves)
How you can buy a $12.000 card without authenticating it is just beyond me. It's like buying a car without checking if the car is actually just a stack of cardboard boxes with "car" written on them.
it may have been purchased many years ago before such a high value was on the card and before grading was a big thing
Those vertical lines are called Striations.
The lotus had a two tone black border
If they expressly called it fake they would need to get authorities involved.
Over a piece of cardboard? Unless you're not trying to sell the fake, what would be the charges?
When compared to the book with tropical islands the fake one looks completely off
Timewalk is fake. 2 seconds in
Hey Siri, Get me some hand moisturiser stat!!!
I caught the fake one! The shading is off. One looks more aged and vintage the other looks more vibrant.
You should call out that the TM on the back is printed in stark white on those fakes, as compared to the real TM being printing in negative space, looks blurry on real cards and most fakes have that clear TM on the back.
Those did look like vertical pressure lines on that lotus
Do you think you need to worry about Card Kingdom etc?
rudy just writes to himself, folds the paper to look more legit, about all the times he ever got scammed
never*** rudy never gets scammed sorry typo
true lol
The real ones up close almost look like cloth. Something really beautiful about them.
I've always wondered why the Black Lotus is blue, but the fake is clearly purple
I buy a beat blue mana from card store... Turn out to be fifth edition
the 0 in the upper right is pushed to the right on the real ones
Do you still have to pay PSA to grade your stuff if it kicks back as fake?
This crap pisses me off SO much!!! Thiefs are absolutely the bottom of humanity.
you can tell the island duel land is fake because the island is Green, instead of that dark brownish color
Do I need to be a patron to send you some 4th edition cards that someone said were fake?
