LOVEd this film. I do hope that non singers don't get the impression that music this perfect requires no practice, cos it must've taken months to get these arrangements memorised and honed to this level.

The scene before is where they realized the bickering and cookie-tosses weren't getting them anywhere and none of them actually wanted to do that, they were all just frustrated and confused about how to move forward, but this scene is where they realized they had this talent all along and felt natural. In any group vocal ensemble it's very important not just to know what notes to sing yourself, but to listen to the voices around you. Without direction, you automatically make adjustments to maintain harmony, supporting one another. They picked a song they all knew or, if not the lyrics then at least could add appropriate melodies because again, they were listening to each other and taking cues of the other voices. Yes yes, it's a movie and this was all rehearsed, but every time I watch it it genuinely looks spontaneous, which in the real world is actually really hard. I speak from experience. Their facial expressions, thoughtful glances off into space as they listened for cues to jump in and decide what sound to make to harmonize, little acting details like that makes this a really well-put together scene both visually and audibly. My favorite scene, like many people, is the original Riff-Off (which is where Beka's thoughts were sparked on how they might get better as a group and she really enjoyed it) but this scene was far more important to the plot and character development. The final performance of Freedom brought it all full circle which had less punch for me but lesbie honest, they weren't singing for the audience or the cameras at that point, the actors were singing for each other because it may well be the last time they'll be together on or off screen and those emotions were very real for them.

Me as not an expert, I can say this is the turning point for the group and just look at the details. yes i agree when u said they started to find their voice through this. Everything looks so real. So this scene is very special and means a lot to me as a music fan and a lover of friendship movies haha. Its a shame they won't go for more franchise

Do your research before making assumptions about things u don't understand...
