great work out there. conditions were so challenging
you did a good job filming too. Maybe next time a rental bike to help you to keep up with Ben.
Thanks for all your help Mike! The extra footage was great. See you soon 🙌
@@BenParkes you are still friends with him because you didn't mention the word maffetone. Once you do that he is going to block you. I promise you mate ;)
@@baltsu sorry mate, did I miss sth here, you mean Kofuzi didn't like Maffetone method?
Ben saying that one of the worst conditions he has ever run, one week later he signs up for another half in the Bermudas 🤣😂😁. Congrats Ben!!! Thanks to Sarah and Ko for helping out with some extra footage. Edit: sad news RIP 😔
Don't typically comment on YT much (I'm generally pretty private), but your journey has helped me keep pushing. I've had various injuries in my three year (so far) running journey. I've had to resort to cross training and seeing you go through the same helped me. Just finished my first marathon and exceeded my own expectations and had a blast doing it!
RIP David 😔! Another runner in the Hackney Half too 😢. We’re blessed to run & for most even finish safely. We’re all thinking of their families. ❤️
Lol'ed when Sarah greeted you after the race with this malicious "mwhahaha". Also very sweet you edited in the tribute to the fellow runner. You both are such gentle souls. Well done on the race!
Great job mentioning David Reichman. God bless him and his family. RIP.
Amazing content as always. Your comment about the runner who died was sincere and well said
I ran the race as well. The humidity was horrific. A video on how to race in suboptimal conditions would be cool.
It was cool seeing you on the course. I hope you enjoyed New York.
Incredible work Ben, brilliant under such difficult conditions. David...RIP you are in our thoughts
Well done Ben. First of all, you are back and the injury is history. Secondly, humidity is the worst enemy in running events. So the time is not comparable to other races. Finally, I want to say that Kofuzi did a good job filming.
It was a great race. This video brought all the feels. Well done.
Very good time considering the conditions and lack of running recently, gr8 work Ben!
Awesome stuff. Been following for a while, you've really inspired my running journey. Seeing you get to 100k subs is fantastic.
Thank you for sharing your journey. Thank you Kofuzi as well.
really smooth transition on 07:26 :D
great run, been! it was rough out there, for sure.
Ha.. my favourite transition in a while.. glad someone else noticed!! :-)
Well done Ben, great job. Excellent time considering the circumstances. 👍😀
Congrats. Great Race and a great video. Got goosebumps.
Well done, Ben! Fabulous effort! 👌
Awesome run Ben, great video 😁👏
Amazing race! Amazing edit (Sarah)! And amazing Kofuzi cameo! 10/10
Well done Ben..yes like Asia. I live in Jakarta and I have to run constantly with this kind of weather. It is very challenging and really affect your performance - body cannot cool down, HR goes up. So I think you really did great!
Welcome to NY! I wish we could have provided better conditions for your race but awesome time in poor conditions. And fantastic video!
Well done Ben, very good time and as always great video!!!! 😀
Well done, Ben, fantastic running in those conditions and with the totally different preparation 👏 👏👏
Well done. Crazy conditions and with a gopro. Wowza. Great seeing Kofuzi out there...very cool
Well done Ben! You have to be really pleased with that result and we can see you gave it your all. Great to have you back running and getting it done!!
Bravo Ben,super chrono, merci pour ces belles images👍☀️
Well done Ben, great time under the circumstances!! Brought back memories of when I ran it in 2018!! 😀
Wow Brooklyn!! Would love to do that event. Great video - Sarah, Kofuzi and your good self Ben. Nice job!
Truly inspirational man. Love your vids and have used 3 of the training plans off your site. Big love Ben
Well done! This level of heat and humidity is absolutely insane, respect! Cheers :)
Sterling effort Ben. Great video, great time 💪👌
Amazing video and run, Ben, well done. That looked such hard conditions!!
RIP David. So sad. X
love the video ! saw Kofuzi !
Wow great running Ben. Very inspiring
Well done Ben, very sad and sombre news at the end but glad you had a good run and were safe.
Inspired as always, Ben. That clip at the end demonstrates that LIFE more than any metric, moment or otherwise is what we cherish. x
Brilliantly said , Ben, at the end . Your touching expression of the loss of one of our own in the running world was something to remember and to think about. Our lives are tentative after all.
Fantastic run ben well done!👊...and Rip to the poor guy that passed away..and your right make the most of life.
Glad you stopped at Nathan's, my favorite as a NYC native. The fries always remind me of the boardwalk! Thanks for the video Ben & Sarah!
Well done Ben! I always get so excited for you when you have a few km left to do, I'm always cheering you on (even though you've already ran!) Thank you for always taking us along these races with you!👍🏼
Great run Ben, great Kofuzi supported you too. Enjoyed it !
Ben, fantastic effort in the conditions and where you are in your fitness. It's so great to share this journey of recovery with you and to experience vicariously the benefits of cross-training. Well done too on your words for David and his family.
Congratulations Ben! That was fascinating based on your cross training approach. Looked brutal conditions and you’re right to happy with that time.
Some excellent footage from the rest of the race from Sarah too. Video production quality is super high.
Sad to hear about the guy that died.
You’re a genuine inspiration Ben, I want to look as happy as you on the start line (not nervous) and I always think of you finishing a race, doing a trade mark jump and fist pump! Thank you
Great run and great video Ben 📹 👏.
Nice Work! Run this route again to see how you`re progressing!
AWESOME race! Congrats Ben!
ran in prospect park a lot and boy the uphill towards the exit is soooooooo long. Great job! I wish I saw you because you are my absolute running inspiration!
Awesome job Ben. Great video. Onwards & Upwards 💪
Papa Parkes in the house

Stunning effort Ben, well done.
Awesome running Ben. Amazing and sad 👍🏃♂️
Smashed it. Well done
OMG, you arrived finally to NYC Congrats good performance to despite your injury by the way I’ve been expecting for you on April 24th, may be the next time!!
Great Video as always Ben! 79 mins after minimal training and in those conditions! Absolutely brilliant Ben! When i watch your video's like this one i just want to go out and run! Such an inspiration! Keep smiling and keep up the great work Ben & Sarah.
Great Running Ben. Great coverage from Sarah and Mike. So sad to hear about the runner who passed. At least he was doing what he loved...
Really pleased to see you back out there enjoying yourself and touching to see how much it meant to you! You’re a really kind guy to add in that section for the runner that sadly passed away. Keep being you and doing what you’re doing 🙂
Great work there Ben! I have run in events in both Malaysia and in Singapore and I felt your discomfort in the humidity there for sure! Humidity has a huge effect and as you'll know yourself it just saps it out of you and easily adds a few minutes on the time (or more) , so to do what you did in the time you did it in is even more impressive!
Amazing run! Great video!
Inspirational mate, well done!
Congratulations!!!! What a time!!!!
Thanks for sharing
So impressed by how your production quality just keeps going up, Ben!
remembrance was so very well said. nicely done.
Great running Ben. Can't be easy in that humidity and when you're feeling knackered so props to you for still putting in a solid run 👍
Wow really sad news you mentioned at the end about David. Thinking of his family and friends
well done for not stopping bro
An inspiration as always Ben, lovely sentiments
Fantastic work Ben in tough conditions. Sad to hear about David. RIP!!
If you are in the UK and under 30, charity CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) offer free screenings. As a runner, it's probably not a bad idea to pay for an ECG and maybe echo cardiogram every few years. I have a resting HR of around 33 which flagged as HCM, so typically get checked every 5 years or so
Second this, went to it found extra beats got reffered for the full array of tests with NHS final being a cardiac MRI.
Hopefully wont be anything serious for me when I eventually go through results with docs
33? Are you sure you have a human heart in that chest? :D
Great video and well done Ben. I always think naively I guess that I am the only person in the race that just wants to stop, and I always feel weak by letting those feelings into my head. Its reassuring to hear someone of your calibre (i.e way faster than me) of running saying that too. It makes me feel a lot better about my own mindset when racing.
Great job- and glad the calf held up. I choked up as well with your words at the end. Sadly, I saw that runner right when I crossed the finish line (we have nearly the same finish time). He was being attended to my medics right away, and I assumed he would be OK, never thinking it would end so badly for him. Goes to show how precious our life and health is.
great work work out all done 👍👏
Congrats!
Good to see you racing again, as I, personally, think your and Sarah's race vlogs are the best videos on your channel as they are always very honest, and often also emotional. Also kudos for mentioning the poor runner who didn't made it home, may he rest in peace. I had once witnessed a runner being reanimated by fellow runners at a super hot half marathon and that is a picture that stuck in my mind for month. So, everybody out there, it pays of to make a full medical check-up every once in a while when you are regularly doing marathon or half-marathons!
Beautiful message at the end ❤️ life really is precious
I just ran my first half marathon 1.5 weeks ago in 2:03:58. I would love to do it in 1:19:40. Especially after coming back from a tear, well done, sir. If you want to get away from the humidity, come do the Denver Colfax Marathon or Half Marathon next year.
I ran Denver Colfax a few years ago.. what a great race!!
Go on son! Terrific, brilliant, amazing! 1.19 with virtually no training is incredible, but ❤️ goes out to David 🙏🏻
You are doing a fantastic job and you’re a great source of inspiration 👍😀
Amazing Ben!
Well done. That is flying given any condition. So sad about the runner who passed away. RIP David.
Hearing that this race were the hardest conditions you’ve ever run in gave me some hope. I ran it and really struggled in the humidity! Walked more than I would have expected but I finished!
Well done Andrew!!
Ive run probably 15 halfs and 1 full marathon and that was the toughest race ive ever done. The humidity made it brutal.
Awesome job Ben ,
congrats, did my first ever HM race the past weekend and loved it.....great effort from you
Well done to you too Jon!
Having only run in tropical Thailand for the last 3 years, I know how brutal these conditions are! Tough to compare Cambridge to this as a 5 minute time gap is significant, but the conditions were really different and your preparation far from ideal. Sub 80 is a great time, and it is a testament to you for getting it done! I am going to have the opposite soon when I come back to the UK after 3 years in the tropical heat - Bristol half marathon should be a new PB, and I will be able to tell you how much difference the humidity does make! Think I feel the idea for my next series of videos starting to form now. Great video as always - thank you and keep up the great work!
Brilliant video. 👏 Inspired to go to NYC now. May be you could try out the best half marathons, and rate them we'd love that
Great chat at the finish! Glad you enjoyed Brooklyn and great time considering the cross training and humidity!
I’ve been suffering from a running injury for about 3 months and Ben, I have to thank you for sharing your journey recently. It’s motivated me to do some cross training to get through it and congrats on getting in done in those conditions! Also 100k subscribers! Thoroughly deserved 👏👏
Thank you Sam. All the best for your recovery and return to running soon!!
Great job. Humidity Can be tough I live in florida. You did amazing.
Some effort Ben well done!!! And very respectful of you to talk about the very sad passing of David Reichman.
You’re 100% correct Ben, you never know what the day is going to bring, RIP David.
Well done Ben!
Impressive time actually for coming back from soleus injury, only having done cross training the last 8 weeks, and the insane weather conditions. So nice to see Kofuzi! Amazing supportive dude. Unbelievably sad about David dying. Just absolutely too sad for words.
Nice video Ben. Saw you at the start line, was in the corral A behind you. Nice tribute to David at the end. See you next time in NYC!
See you soon!
Didn’t get a chance to speak but good to see you at the shake out run 👍 This is a great summary and review of the race. That was tough. Humidity wow! PR attempt failure for me.
Very sad events at the finish line too 🙏
Awesome performance with that condicions!!!!! 🙏
Arc of A-Brooklyn right there buddy! Reminds me of my comeback HM a while ago, after which Strava told me to rest for several days!
Fantastic racing after the injury and considering the adaptation in your training style!
I look forward to see you in the Belfast marathon sometime! Certainly no risk of heat or humidity here 😂
You kicked ass! Cross training is my saviour.
Well done Ben! Tough tough conditions and so sad about that poor runner. I took part in the Tracksmith Amateur Mile a few weeks ago in London and a guy had a cardiac arrest during the first heat. He was very lucky that after 7 minutes of CPR he came around. Like you say, life is short. Embrace it with both arms 🥰🥰 Enjoy your travels x
He’s at my running club - luckily he was well enough to post on our Facebook group the day after, thanking people for helping him.
@@sallybovill5560 How amazing were all those people? Like they said on the night, they saved his life! So glad to hear he’s doing ok. 🥰
Well done
Great effort Ben! Come to Singapore for the gold label Standard Chartered Marathon on December 4th and you will run one of the hottest and most humid races! Come and do some hot weather training here and make a great vlog!
