Because US aircraft carriers are old and outdated. Number is not the thing anymore.
They panic because they are insecure, they do not want to see anyone else advance no matter how small the gains. They went to war with little countries like Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya. These countries have even less than China and yet the US still felt threatened.
I’ve never seen a people so insecure and arrogant as the Americans are.

US panic? you must be kidding. This Chinese new Aircraft carrier is constantly bellowing smoke and two tugboats are chaperoning it, in case its engine stops. It do not have the propulsion to make the new chinese carrier to speed up. This new carrier is destined to become a floating Casino.
I am Chinese, and I will talk about my views on the naming of these several large ships.
The disasters of modern Chinese history certainly began with the Opium War in 1840. But to be honest, the Chinese don't harbor much hatred towards Britain, France, the United States, or Russia. It's not that the Opium War or the Eight-Nation Alliance invasion of China wasn't aggression, but rather that these were still wars, not massacres.
The First Sino-Japanese War, however, was different. Japan aimed for genocide, which continued into the subsequent resistance against Japan. Throughout the entire process, Japan probably slaughtered nearly 70 million Chinese, many through atrocities such as burning alive, burying alive, regardless of age or gender. This was no longer warfare but genocide, at a scale 11 times greater than the Nazi Fascist slaughter of Jews in World War II.
So, our first aircraft carrier will be named Liaoning. The Battle of the Yellow Sea erupted in the Liaoning region. This place marks the beginning of China's rapid decline, humiliation, and slaughter. So, it's quite normal for our first large ship to be named after this province.
Because according to the regulations of our navy, aircraft carriers are named after provinces (by the way, China has 31 provinces and 4 municipalities directly under the central government, so I guess in the end, China will have 35 aircraft carriers, don't be surprised. The population of the United States is less than a quarter of China's, but it has 11 aircraft carrier strike groups. On a per capita basis, China having 35 aircraft carriers is quite normal).
Why is the hull number 16? Similarly, in the Battle of the Yellow Sea, our navy lost 15 battleships, the entire fleet was wiped out. So, it's very natural for the Liaoning aircraft carrier to start numbering from 16.

We are a nation of history. We have enough patience. To be honest, from a historical perspective, I think the United States is just a flash in the pan, at most similar to the Tubo Dynasty.
Unless it’s nuclear then the panic button is unlikely to be turned on,the vast advantages that come with it.

Everyone has to understand the threat of any Nation using a Nuclear weapon. Once the first Nuclear weapon is released, it will be the end of civilization as we know it. After the first Nuclear weapon is used it will bring a Nuclear retaliation. That will release a worldwide Nuclear war.
China will put 2 of them along east coast, 2 along west coast, 2 in Caribbean sea and gulf of Mexico.

To be fair the us doesn’t have experience in modern naval warfare, nor does china, only training, the US only got to fight up close with ship to ship but is a modern era rules has changed, the Ukraine war is a great example

IDK if it were my chess game China, I would be looking to take Russia. 1)China has a very large standing army, and Russia can be reached by land invasion. 2) Russia is rich in resources. 3) Russia's Ukraine adventures have weakened her military greatly. She has lost a lot of hardware fighting Ukraine. 4) Russian command and control ha shown glaring weaknesses. 5) Russian army morale is very poor.
