6th Order BandPass Build Sundown ZV4 12" on 2K

  • Alright guys here's the build for the 6th order with 1 of the sundown Zv4 12's, now just so you know the 6th order performs much better than a 4th for this woofer and even better than a ported box as far as flat response is concerned
Internally 6.8cubes, small side tuned to 42hz and big side is 28hz
the box peaks at 32hz in the car and again at 44hz doing at the moment a 140.6 at 32hz which aint bad, still doing high 130's at 26hz, very low and musical box and id say even better than my kicker 4th order (similar in lows but its better up higher)
Metering did 144db at 32hz and was still doing 141db at 46hz
Hope you all enjoy was my first 6th order plus I personally designed it, hopefully will see it wired at 0.5ohm at some stage with conservative gain but still more power

Nice build seeing it's your first 6th order, curious about when I build my slot port box for 2 kaption spl 1200s. I'm using 3/4 mdf couldn't get birch but I glue each board together and predrill for my screws correct, that way wood won't split but is wood glue what I use our should I use silicone etc?

Nice work and terrific outcome on the meter, but, try adding a few top to bottom & side-side braces and you might be surprised by both the increased output and tightening up of the bass tone.
You simply cannot add 'TOO MUCH' bracing!
Inspirational! - It's been a long, long time since my World Record, time to start building again.

Hi. Please help me to understand why if you have a sealed box(40,88,26 centimeters) that has a volumen of 91520 cubic centimeters, but if i want to change to 40,68,46 cm, the volumen is not the same, just the volumen is more less similar with a 10,68,33.6 box that has a volumen of 91392 cubic centimeters.
If i build the 10,68,33..6 cm box, the sound would be the same with the 40,88,26 cm box?

Definitely go ported or bandpass. Look at the specs on the pioneer box and how much volume they call for. 2 pioneer champions will get pretty loud on a ported box built to spec. I think it's 1.5 cu ft per sub

Hey mate, I really need some help on this 4th order I'm building. Its a 2:1 ratio (port:seal) 4ft³:2ft³ (I'm running 2 12" sub's). I was going to make my port tuned to 41hz, but I don't know if I am tuning this correctly. I used a normal ported box calculator to figure it out but I'm not sure if that having it bandpass that will effect the tuning of the port.
I was also wondering what my range of frequencies I can play without any damage or issues to anything in my system (what can my highpass lowpass filters be set to).
I saw a guys 4th order box be tuned to 43hz but he was able to play well into the lower 20hz and upper 10hz.

+jesus Flores My sub is 15" with a Xmax of almost 4", and for the same Xmax this sub has, i thought that maybe the 6th order box with one or two 8" flare ports in each enclosure could be the solution for eliminating the turbulences, or maybe 2 slots of 4" by 31" length in each enclosure. Some people say that the port tube are the best for the best sound than the slots, but ....... i do not know what to do.

2:1 and octave tuning gets you in the ballpark - the larger chamber tuned lower and being about the size or just over the size of a ported box you would use for that driver.

I'm getting ready to build a 6th order for my sa 12. I have 2 of them but don't know how to get them in my trunk without taking up to much space. If I do one sub what is the ratio of cubes per chamber?

Theron Culp Best thing to do is put all the woofer specs into WinISD pro or term pro and play around with different size chambers and tuning and see if what you can fit will have a decent response curve

I like the build. But I don't know why the person got rid of the old setup though with the 2 zv4 12's. I liked the 2 zv4 build that you did a while ago.

so did I, main reason was I built him a all rounder box that's looked good played all music and was loud but he wanted those numbers so put in that spl box (granted did gain 3db) but that didn't mean the trim I did had to be destroyed just a sloppy install
this looks a bit better in there at least but nothing compared to what I did originally

I've gone through a few boxes, yes that particular build was the best looking one and I showed it off / demo'd it at its fair share of competitions - but it got boring and I wanted to change it up; whenever I want to though it is ready to drop back in

OMG!!! Do you guys design boxes?!?! I can pay :) I'm looking for a 6th order bandpass for my 15" Sundown Zv4d2, hopefully 28hz peak, only need good SPL at 28hz to 36hz, so MONSTER peak, not flat :) Max dimensions I have are 23"x28"x22" and would like the ports to come out of the 23x28 side. If dimensions are too small then I could do 46"x28"x22" and ports out the 46x28 side. Lemme know please and thanks :)

      @AustraliasBiggestBassChannel  Před 9 lety

smallenginedude71 I havn't bought any sundown yet myself, but you need to find a team sundown member at a comp etc and they should be able to help out, im pretty sure you can also get stuff from SSA audio in the US too
All the sundown in these vids is jacobs

smallenginedude71 I'm pretty sure Sonny Trunk Paonga (the trunk king) on Facebook is a Sundown dealer. He's located Brisbane somewhere...

I'm thinking of building on like this for one sundown 18, I got 14ft3 to work with should I go as big as possible. I'm putting 10k watts to it and want it to pound hard my friend please let me know

Depends on the Thiele small parameters of the driver and the response of your car. I don't know whether 10,000 watts will exceed the displacement or thermal limits of the driver depending upon what tuning you use.

+Ricky whited (KumudgenMotorsInc) well yes you could build a 6th order for those subs but it will need to be very different to this box in size and layout

is it better 9to put the woofer inside the box ... i mean ...( that symbol is wood of the box [ and that symbol is the woofer 0.. so is it better to put it [ 0 ] or to put it outside the box like the classic way 0[ ] ???

+Kostis Ketikidis This is a 6th order bandpass, different from your conventional subwoofer box.
