As I am assessing the situation, that teacher had absolutely no right to break that student’s phone. Even though he used his phone during class when he wasn’t supposed to, it still did not give her the right to break his phone. The only thing she should have been allowed to do was hold onto his phone until the end of class. The teacher should have been fired immediately and her retire benefits should have been suspended upon further review from the school board. Lastly, she should have been demanded to pay for the damage she caused to his phone. The principal should have also been fired for calling the police on him just because he left school property. But worst of all, Cooper should not have been arrested at all. He had a good reason to escape

In real life a teacher who break a student's phone would probably have to face an angry parent who would probably say these words:how dare you break my child's phone what if it's an emergency or something you'll have to buy him/her another one do you know how much that phone cost no you don't eta.
