    You don't need the walled off water area. Just designate a pit and load it with water and it will do it's thing with a statue in all four corners.

      I didn't use a statue but yeah, this way you waste less water

    That's a marvelous device. I usually make a natural waterfall using the the light aquifer of the map. I just make holes in the aquifer layer and let the liquid down by water grates, level down level until the caverns.

    Can you show how you set up that water wheel setup? It looks like it has no drain, like a closed loop system.

      In case anyone is wondering since this is 8 mo old: channel out two parallel 3 tile spaces for the wheels. put a pump facing north on the space between the channels. channel a square at the base (intake) of the pump. place the wheels. zone a pit and designate as pond. set to manually pump once the water is filled.
      the lever + hatch is so you can turn it off. you also need the wall on the north side.
      Edit: The water will evaporate, I think this is only viable in the short term.

    Water Reactor looks different this time. Does it work with just designated ponds similiar to a Mist Generator?

    • @Ic0nGaming
      @Ic0nGaming  Před rokem

      The Generator has been filled with Pond Zones, yes. Needs roughly 4/7 water on all connected tiles to properly get primed.

    Mine still worked after i removed the statues xD (maybe a bug?)

    Can you make do with only 2 pumps on the mist generator instead of 4

    • @Ic0nGaming
      @Ic0nGaming  Před rokem

      No, not that I'd know about. Basically you need a cycle, and the smallest possible one in DF is with 4 pumps. 3 won't work cause we can't pump diagonally (otherwise we could build a triangle). But with 2 pumps I wouldn't be able to get back to square 1 with my water. Or at least I can't think of any way.

    how did you set up your water wheel?

  • @KurtRo4444
    @KurtRo4444 Před rokem

    Is there a way this can be accomplished using a light aquifer rather than the screw pumps, or do they put out too much water?

    • @andrewferris6239

      Aquifers draining down stairwells or stacks of alternating floor and grate tiles in rooms both have worked great for me with light aquifers, no power or machines required. Have the aquifer drain off map, into a river, or onto an unused floor space, as it will evaporate since your producing relatively little water. If a fort is vertically stacked under a river or light aquifer with this method, your dwarves can more or less constantly be pelted with mist.

    Still magma mist is better 🙂
