Pierce used to console Ray all the time over the phone and apparently he didn't deserve a call either.

Ray did what he had to do for his career after finding out that Doc and Ainge wanted to go another direction and basically telling Ray ,"Hey it's up to you if you want to come on board with us or not, but we are not going to pay you what you want." Meanwhile Pat Riley comes along, offers Ray what he wants AND an opportunity to win another ring. I would've done the same thing. It's all about business.

They were more than rivals that year, come on Ray. These teams played each other in the 2010 playoff with D wade and then the Celtics went on to beat Lebron's Cavs. That following offseason Lebron goes to Miami to beat YOU guys because he couldn't do it alone. Then they played in the 2011 playoffs and then meet again in the 2012 Conference Finals in one of the best series I've ever seen. If you go back and watch those games from that 3 year period, you can tell the animosity and hatred the 2 teams had for each other. there barely went a game where there wasn't an altercation between the 2 teams. Truly believe this was the last real old school rivalry the NBA had, so stop Ray, everyone on both sides of the locker room knew there was a personal distate for each other at that time

Everything points to this being more of a busines decision and I personally dont or never will hold anything against him, he got a second ring out of it, a happy ending to his career and as a die hard Celtics fan im happy for him.
