In 1984 in New Zealand, I was running a company car, a 1985 Nissan Sunny Sports Waggon with a 1.3 litre manual 5 speed. I was changing my oil every 5,000 km and doing 70,00 km a year so changes were often. I came across Mobil 1 with a 40,000 km warranty and I was very skeptical but decided to try it.
I kept it in the vehicle for 10,000 km, twice the length and as the oil cost twice as much, it worked out about the same cost.
I really looked after my company car and I would not let anyone abuse it and I kept detailed records for myself for fuel usage and any other costs. Over that time, I had an improvement of 7% of fuel usage, similar to yours, by just changing my oil. And the mechanic told me the engine was exceptionally clean and the oil was not black. A good oil
On a visit to the Agricultural Feild Days in Mystery Creek, I came across and Amsoil stand, and now I knew Amsoil was great oil.
I signed up as a dealer and at my own expense, I installed a full system of Amsoil on the company car.
10w-40 25k engine oil, 75w-90 gear lube, an Amsoil oiled foam air filter and a 6 inch Amsoil by-pass oil filter. This was a depth type filter that went in a canister, the original type and messy to clean.
Now I had a 14% improvement in fuel economy.
I did about 40,000 km when the car was involved in an accident at a speed just less than 120 kph and the car was written off. But the car protected me and I walked away with just a torn muscle.
I was able to recover the by-pass filter and the air filter from he wreck and installed it on my new car. along the new fill of Amsoil and gear box oil.
I wrote a detailed report to my manager showing what I had done [at my own cost] and pointed out the benefits and savings the company would make over the life of the vehicle. I don't remember the actual benefits and savings, but it was considerable and worthwhile. My vehicle always looked the best in the fleet, because I looked after it.
I had a report back "No unauthorised modifications to the vehicle."
I continued with what I was doing and the company thought I had gone back to 5,000 km changes, but I hadn't, so I was repaid.
Later in my own Nissan Sunny, I installed the dual remote, full flow and by-pass in series. and the air filter. I averaged 6.3 liters per 100 km or about 42 miles per gallon. Tha was with imperial gallons so 4.45 litres, different to your 3.8.
I did change to a Honda Shuttle for a while, but never again. I had a Nissan Pulsar 1.6 manual
Amsoil pulled out of NZ in 2004. I was a lifetime dealer, mainly for myself and friends as I am not a great salesman but I am passionate about it. But I bought new oil, 0w-30 for better fuel economy. and a dual foam air filter which I used for 10 years until I had the car towed away. I also use PI in 3.8 litres which ran out a couple of years ago.
I now use exclusively top quality synthetics or top known brands. I am not sure about the Sinopec, but I will have to look the up.
My first automatic car, andI have owned one since 1967, have all been manual transmissions. My first auto was two years ago a 1.3 Mazda Demo (Mazda2). I am getting around 8 l/100km around town and 6.8 on trips compared to the 1.6 Nissan Pulsar 1.6 manual 5 speed. I averaged about 6.2 L/100 km in the city, but never in peak traffic in a heavier, larger engined car with stick shift that the auto Demeo.
Thaks for your very informative talks.

That's what I've always said - people who have to commute long distances and people who lead extremely busy lives are crazy if they don't use the Amsoil.
