    Richter playing Debussy is possibly my favourite thing in the world

    This, is, incredible. (notice the pause in the words, I have calmed myself down with these incredible 2 pheanomenons, Richter and Debussy. This is art in the same way like a painting in a museum, this is museum music, polished springing directly from the impressionistic world, full of fantasy and images, This is a small part of the universe).

    @gkollias14 You are definitely right. This is pure art, pure essence of human soul... The impressionism of Debussy anyway is not the description of something, but the description of the deep feelings he had while seeing or thinking about something ...

    @PaulDew22 oh yeah, once you get the taste for old recordings there's no going back! especially seeing that they played so much better back in the day!

    1. Really different from original key
    2. "La" Plus que Lente

    Bro your piano is really out of tune

      Lol I know its an old comment, but the piano is perfectly in tune, its the tube mic recording, tape flutter and subsequent conversion into digital that plays with the pitch.

    Richter was great with Debussy. Sadly, though, lousy sound here.

      Ian Sutton well lovers of truly great pianism (the majority of which predates Richter) have accepted that tradeoff

    • @iansutton9746
      @iansutton9746 Před 5 lety +3

      I heard Richter at Massey Hall in Toronto, which had great acoustics, in the 1960s, plus quite a few great ones who predated him. This recording doesn't do him justice, but I can accept the tradeoff.
