How to Screen Share on Cambly Kids!

- One of the features on Cambly is the ability to share your computer screen with students! In this video I show you how to screen share on Cambly Kids and how I use it during my online ESL lessons!

I'm jumping back into the Cambly Kids classroom and this was SO HELPFUL! Thank you! I wish they had a practice classroom! I also LOVE the Web Paint idea! I've never heard of it before! I will DEFINITELY be getting that!
No problem! You no longer need the Cambly browser extension but the web paint tool is really helpful!

It is a bit of a learning curve! The only change from the video, is that you no longer need the browser extension but everything else is still pretty much the same!

In the card memory game, how to you get the cards to be labelled "A1, A2, B1" etc.? I only see plain cards on the non-animal picture side of the card. Thank you for your video!
I just figured out how to add A1, A2 etc. I clicked the orange grid on the top right. Your video is excellent!

Hello! They can't interact via the screen sharing option. A possible way to do crosswords is to upload them on whiteboardfox.com and then share the link with the student in the chat box. This may not work for iPad kids, it would be better if they were on a laptop or a computer where a second window can be opened. They will no longer be able to see the cameras or the chat box etc, but you will still be able to hear each other. The student can draw this way too, but if they hit the wrong button, they can also delete anything that's uploaded, so it's best to do it will older students with a good understanding!
Hi there! Thank you for your video and sharing tips. I have been successful at screen sharing but once the PDF is open and the student can see it I am having trouble advancing the slides or pages. For example they are want to do the reach higher text book. How to I advance to the next page without closing screen share and reopening it? Hope that makes sense.
It’s not changing on their end? Or on your end? I tend to only use web based pdfs where I can just scroll or flip the page

In the matching game on the right hand side there is a row of buttons and the one that looks like a grid puts numbers on the top of the slides :)
Hi Kylie! I've been trying to screen share on Cambly, but having some difficulties. For example, how do you handle ads? Is there a way to skip them before sharing with the student? Also, is it possible to pause the video while sharing? Many, many thanks in advance.
Hello! Do you mean CZcams ads? Usually I know what videos I want to use before I start teaching, so I let the ads run and then pause them once they’ve gone. There are a couple other sites where I know an ad pops up so I just get the game or site ready. Yes you can pause, control everything from the shared window, the classroom screen essentially goes dead, you can’t do anything and nor can the student :)
For me, Web Paint only works if the new window is NOT incognito. Is that ok to screen share with a NOT incognito window?
I always have Cambly open in an incognito but my screen share tabs are always just in a regular window, so I’ve never noticed that. Interesting!
I cannot seem to find the CamblyKids link for job application. Can someone help me out, please?
You have to do the regular Cambly application and there’s an option to then do the extra steps for CK. Both use the same platform but if you are accepted to kids there’s an option to only open reservations for kids classes.

There are people that screen share without the extension so it should still work :) I never tried it without, it was there so I used it just in case!
Kylie- so I’ve been using the screen share more often now- but sometimes the CZcams videos don’t work. Any tips
Hello! Hmm I’m not too sure, I tend to steer clear of CZcams videos as they have said in the past that we shouldn’t be using more than like 1 minute in class 🙈. It might be a copyright thing within the CZcams video? I know when I’ve tried to play videos on a tv it doesn’t always let me...maybe it can tell that it’s being screen shared?
I am not able to scroll within the cambly window or see my clock for my student while reading an engoo article. Do you know how to fix this
Hello! You have to scroll and do everything from the original window. As I show in the video it’s best to open a 2nd window that you can put over the top of the Cambly one. Then make it half size so you can see the chat box, cameras and timer behind it :)
Hello Kylie, thank you for this video, I found it very useful. I did try to use two Google windows when screen sharing but when I clicked on Google tabs, the tab in the new window was not there! Any ideas? Many thanks
Oh! That's strange! I've never had any problems seeing all my tabs on the 'Google Chrome Tabs' list that appears, even when they are in different windows! Sorry I can't be any more help!

Hello! I searched for Cambly screen share and "Cambly Enhancement Suite" extension comes up, is that the same thing??
Unless they have changed it, they are different things. It should be called 'Cambly Screen Sharing'. I don't have the enhancement suite one :) Other people have said that you don't need the extension for it to work!
