  • Think twice about saying equestrianism isnt a sport!

''Every time I hear the same thing.
    We just sit there
    It isn't a sport
    It's easy
But we know it is different
    And we can show you
    We trust a HUGE animal
that can kill us with its own body
Which doesn't speak our own language
    We fall, brushed ourselves off
and got back in the saddle.
    Dressage
    Cross-country
    Showjumping
Do you understand the bond between horse and rider?
We risk our lives for a sport
    Have you ever done that?
We live in a complete different world
    That NOBODY understands
Not everyone is able to be an equestrian
    ARE YOU?''

Horse riding is a drug, is a therapy, is effort, emotions, fear, courage, passion..I can't imagine my life without it! And I can't imagine my days without my horse. She knows me and I know her...she helps me, she "feels" me and so do I.
There's something so deep between a horse and a rider, something that only them two can understand.

      That´s the ticket.
I would never have guessed that some "stupid animal" would get me to a place where anger and aggression and violence are much easier to control than before.
I´m riding a coldblood called "samson" and that dude is my therapist. I´m trying to return the favor and be a good comrade back for him. The way a horse will react to you being distracted, or rushed, or in any way off your game, makes it way easier to notice in the first place, that you are. It helps with self-awareness. Once you notice your horse telling you "Hey dude! Something´s off, right now! What´s going on!?" you have a much easier time to look into yourself and find out what your horse is talking about. So helpful. Thanks, Samson. Love ya, bud.

It's sad how people do not understand how the littlest things can be so fatal in horse riding, that not tightening the cinch all the way can lead to your whole saddle falling off, that missing just one jump can not just hurt you but your horse as well. It's so different how people in like Soccer or Football are like I can't play for a while because I twisted my ankle, when equestrians are all like I can't ride for a while or even ever again because I broke my whole spine. We don't just put in the time, effort, and love into riding, we put all of that into riding and our horses, if your horse gets hurt from a bad fall or just hitting the ground wrong and you don't get hurt physically it still hurts you mentally because our horses are family and it's not like a stupid ball getting deflated, it's a whole animal getting injured or dying from just the sake of one sport.

What does it matter, who understands what?
If i ever say anything at all, i say "Take 3 riding lessons and tell me again how riding isn´t a sport." but mostly, i just don´t care.
I have never, ever met anyone in my life who didn´t have badly aching muscles after one of their first 3 riding lessons. Doesn´t matter how fit they are in other kinds of sport.

I think that "riding isn't a sport" is said by people who have only ridden nose-to-tail in a dude string at a walk, so they think they know how to ride and, gosh, it was so EASY. I've met so many people who claim they know how to ride, but put them on something other than a plug and they suddenly want off, real fast!

Carol Reising exactly! back in october i took my friend to the barn i take lessons at ( she said she knew how to "ride" but the thing is, she's only ridden about 10 times at a summer camp ) anyway, she was NO William Fox Pitt tbh!! long story short she was putting all of her weight on her right leg and she was pulling the saddle over and was completely off balence and the funniest part was for the rest of the lesson she got the "no sturrips" lesson😂😂 bet she won't say she can ride after that!!

There was this guy who claimed he could ride and that it was easy. At the time I was on a 3 month medical leave from riding after I got a dislocated spine when I got thrown off my OTTB gelding. I told this guy I was looking for a rider to exersise my horse since I couldn't ride, and told him what happened. He didn't take me seriously and I brought him to my barn. As soon as he saw my horse. He wanted off before he even got on. Instead I just had him watch my friend ride, and he's never even brought up the topic that equestrianism isn't a sport since

Bri I love this video, it is great and portraits the truth of riding. I myself am not equestrian, although I have riden before at some barns just for a few hours (on trail rides because I'm POOR 😂) and even something that is as simple as going horseback riding on a trail for a few hours can prove to be difficult. I may not have a horse or am lucky enough to have a bond with a horse, yet alone IMAGINE the struggles of any riding sport, but I respect horses and the people who work with them. I try my best to understand the sport. And someday I want to have the money to begin training and build skill.

Riding is all about the ultimate spiritual experience - It’s the separation of your consciousness (or soul, as some would call it) from your physical body. Yes, it's that cool. In fact, there are theories that claim you're already astral projecting when you sleep. Most of us just lose recollection of it when we awake. So the riding is being able to do this while being "conscious" of it. Rissala Polo Club.

    • @sleepyqitten26
      @sleepyqitten26 Před 7 lety +1

aww, that sucks man! : (
another thing is some people are pathological liars, meaning they lie and don't forget their lie and continuously drag it out (pretty much at least). then they may even study horses to seem like they really do ride, it's crazy the extents people will go to do to be someone elses friend. i have one person who claimed she went to her grand fathers barn and got on his horse without permission, bareback, and started trotting and fell off. my first question was how did she know how to trot, her reply was what everyone did in the movies, aka kick at the sides of the horse. a while later she said she actually got to ride, walk trot with tack. she said she did western and just to test her i asked how hard posting was, giving her an example of posting, she said that it was extremely difficult. she wasnt trotting either if she had a lesson, she would have been jogging! she is a total liar, lies about promises etc. she claimed she saw wild horses, i asked their colors and she was so hesitant it was ridiculous. i can completely relate, man. i know so many people who lie about stuff, people who would go on and on about it after even being shot down after the smart one can tell that they're lying. i know someone who said that they went to a stable with a horse 12 ft tall, i pointed out they said feet instead of hands, that the tallest horse was 20 /hands/ tall, etc. i could go on and on, it's sad that i could. people these days want to lie about everything, they cant just be honest and say, okay, im sorry i lied, or just not lie at all.

They find me better because I love that sport and my equestrian friends see me writing my essays while waiting for my lesson, and my brother just there interrupting the lesson, complain about everyone, every horse, and about him not being the best out of best. first: I'm 14 and i spotted that from a mile away
second: I did read some of the comments below, and idc that nobody does barrels where you live, if you can't put it in there you shouldn't have put the part with the event names. And I'm so done with the "nobody does it where I live" excuse. News flash nobody does English events where I live, and yet when I make edits, I include them, but it has to be so hard to find barrel videos. That's how I have a barrel racing edit account on IG...
