The early 60s was classic in fashion and styling. Jan and Dean could walk around today in these outfits and still look cool.

I was always trying to dress like Jand D when I was a kid. Now all these years later my style is sort of Jan and Dean meets LL Bean. Works for me !

I was a teenager when Jan & Dean and the Beach Boys were in vogue. Loved the California surfing sound and wanted to visit there because of it.

I ❤ Jan & Dean. Im 77 now & this was the first group singing surf music on the radio! Then The Beach Boys a short time later.

I don't recall, possibly, they were aware of each other for certain. Bruce Johnson & Terry Melcher also released some surf type music. When Brian Wilson stopped touring with the Beachboys it was Bruce Johnson that filled in & still was last they performed. I don't like Bruce because I was so upset that my teenage crush Brian wasn't onstage when I saw them in concert about 1967. Silly girl!

I loved the 60s surfing songs! I surfed every day I could. I made my own surfboard and still have it today. My friend Bobby Farrell made surfboards and taught me how. I have one of his boards too.

Yes! You are correct! I've watched a CZcams semi-documentary on both groups at different times & do vaguely recall 1 of them mentioning they'd done some work with the Beachboys, but don't recall the details. Bummer! Old age! 🙃

Jan looks cool in his rugby shirt. In 2001 I saw him at LAX in a wheelchair in a near catatonic state. It was sad but at least he's not suffering anymore. The music will live forever.
