Hurry Scurry's black hole disappearing animation imported to Super Mario Galaxy 2 successfully. How did you do that? Next step is to get rid of duplicate jingle and make Cosmic Clones disappear when star appears.
(That was done by me) You can copy the black hole demo animation from SMG1 to SMG2. However there is a BCSV file in the black hole demo file (demoblackholedisappearaction.bcsv) that has a value that needs to be changed from 3 to 4 by using Whitehole. If you want cosmic clones (or anything) to appear/disappear after collecting 100 purples, just look at how Nintendo did it with Puzzle Plank’s purple comet.

What if Super Mario Galaxy 2 had different comets? For example Purple Coins in Yoshi Star, Spin Dig Speed Run, Flip Swap with Cosmic Clones, and Gravity Gauntlet Daredevil Run.

The first two and last Prankster Comet missions are a little too over the top. My upper limit for Painting Speed Run would be 45 seconds with Cosmic Clones, while Hurry, He's Running would have the Van-Van Vanish Lv 2 Zone (appears here rather than Van-Van Vanish Lv 1 in the normal mission) and Cosmic Clones; Rocky Road Speed Run would preferably have 2 minutes and Cosmic Clones. Launch Stars and Purple Coins don't mix well, either; provide the player a way to get back or a warning of how many Purple Coins they need.
For "Scaling Purple Coins" in Honeyclimb Galaxy, at the end of the third wall, there should be a launch star taking you back to the first wall. After you collect all 100 purple coins, the Power Star should spawn in the middle of the galaxy and launch stars should spawn on the beginning platforms of each wall that take you to the Power Star.

For the Honeyclimb comet, I'd put a Launch Star near the end to take you back to the beginning in case you miss some purple coins.

On Hurry Scurry Galaxy isn't the timer and cosmic clones redundant because you have to be fast and you can't go to the same spot twice anyways?

That’s forced, not an option. Unless you patch memory, the timer will always stop in SMG2 after a star spawn. SMG1 has the opposite.
