I'm someone who only recently found out about my own history (The goan Inquisition).Reading the book just broke my heart...My ancestors migrated from Goa and settled in Karnataka because of the inquisition and because nobody ever talks about it, it was quite literally forgotten. I never questioned why I live in Karnataka and speak Konkani, and still go visit temples all the way in Goa .Thank you so much for recommending this on your channel. It suprises me how less we know about our own country's history and the education system has not been helpful.

Thanks for the suggestions... I too belong to the generation that was taught rubbish as Indian history while in school. But my mother, who has an avid interest in history, used to tell us, "Though you are reading it to get marks, don't believe in it, truth is something else". So I used to write good things about Gandhi in exams, for example, but believed that truth was something else...For years, I had this discomfort in my mind about having 2 interpretations about a historical incident, one that was in NCERT textbooks, and one that is, the half spoken truth that my mother told me...Now I am happy that people are opening up to knowing the reality, and your suggestions and podcasts are definitely helping...

With your permission I would like to add to this list the following books:
Pandit Kota Venkatachelam’s many books on Ancient India, and particularly “The Plot in Indian Chronology “ by Pandit Kota Venkatachelam. This book will begin the serious student on a search for the true history of Bharath that will lead him/her into brave territories.
“The Chronology of Ancient India : Victim of Concoctions and Distortions” by Vedveer Arya
“ Tamil Nadu - Land of The Vedas” and other books by Sri R. Nagaswamy - Historian, archaeologist, epigraphist.
Re-conceptualizing India Studies by SN Balagangadhara
Age of the Nandas and Mauryas’ by Sri K.A. Nilakantha Sastri. And other books by him.
Chandragupta Maurya and His Times’ by
    Radhakumud Mookherji
There is another book brought out by Bharathiya Vidya Bhavan, authored by Sri KN Munshi and Sri RC Majumdhar on the Mauryas.
These are just a few. I would also suggest reading the brilliant articles being written on the Charithra of Bharath by very dedicated persons and scholars with. Bharathiyathva in their hearts. Also anyone with sensitive and sharp antennae will pick up history from many unexpected encounters. For example, observe the stance of Hammurabi who was the King of Babylon about 3700 years ago, as he stands in front of the Deity Shamash. Can we read the connection with ancient Bharath from just the stance? Then again, the reading of the Dasrajnya Yuddha in the Rg Vedha is fascinating and strangely may be able to help recover the lost history of very ancient Europe.
I sincerely think we need here on our land, a fully empowered University dedicated only to the study of our history, civilization and culture, and which is free of the machinations and interference of non-scholastic entities with agendas.

South history.Tamil chola pallava dynasty and Kannada Rastrakoota, Chalukya Hoysala and Vijaynagar history is " submerged" by north indian historians
Cholas spread indian culture to entire south east asia China Japan
Chalukya emperor viktamaditya II effectively defeated and stopped ummayud arabs in 732 AD .Northern india ie sindh and punjab had fallen at that time
Arabs from them on treated south indian empires as equals
Chalukya Pulikeshi II defeated proud northern harshavardhana on the banks of river narmada using clever elephant maneuvers Rastrakoota king Govinda III ruled north india up to kannauj
Kannada origin king Nanyadeva ruled Nepal Sena dynasty of Bengal was of karnataka origin
Pala dynasty of Bengal too was if karnataka origin Shilahara dynasty which ruled Mumbai for 400 years kannada origin Kadamba dynasty which ruled konkan and goa for 4000 years kannada origin
When north india was conquered by babar south was under their greatest epoch of the magnificent vijaynagar empire under krishnadevaraya who had a vast military machine at his command.
Even British era history of south is " submerged ," by north historians
50 years before the great ranijhansi laxmi bai kannada queen of kittur rani chennamma fought british on the field of war
100 years before " first " war of independence ie sepoy mutiny in north there was Vellore mutiny in south
Since now north and south india is politically one corrections to indian historical narrative must give balanced view and not just northocentric view .

If south indian or western indian kings are so small why they could hold their lands against islamic empire for long time? Even now Mr.modi is talking in speeches about literary work from tamil, tirukural which was apart from religious and philosophical to all people. Tamil and telugu have good literary works. Do you know what is a classical language? All four south indian languages are classical which has true literary works and culture in it. Only sanskrit is a classical language and not hindi. You are a byproduct of western narrative and muslimised narrative of indian history. You are a stupid in a level that no one can rescue.. I dont want to compare kings from north and south . Both have their greatness of their own. No one is superior to others .. all are equal. thats what everyone need for a united india..

Came here to geek out on some good books got stuck in North vs. South, Hindu vs. Muslim comment wars. Speaks volumes about why history cannot be learnt or taught from whatsapp forwards.

I have been searching for such a book where we can know Actually what happened in India. Read few highly rated history books on medival India, but those books were more for the UPSC aspirants rather than for a person who's interested in the story.
Thanks to Beerbiceps I saw Abhijit Sir's eye opening podcast and landed on Sirs CZcams channel and going through all the content one by one.
Please continue doing the great work Sir.
    Cheers!!

Abhijitji, I have read "Tony joseph" book (early Indians), he has a meticulously filtered language to divide North and South India. Why can't you write complete history of India in a series (may be a project), all information in one series, it is a humble request :)
Thanks a lot for the list, in fact I have two books from your recommendations Michel Danino's book and B L Basham (surprisingly I have Basham's book in Kannada translation, translated by D. R Mirji). The rest I will buy and read it for sure.

Abhijit Sir is a theoretical physicist who must be a really busy man considering the nature of his calling. Unlike Abhijit Ji, Tony Joseph is a leech whose full time job is to spew anti-Bharat and Anti-vedic narrative doing the bidding of his leftist masters. Plus even is he or someone else like him manages to write a book(Sanjeev Sanyal has, you can read his books) they'll be attacked by the lobby within and outside this country and will be branded pseudohistory because of the sheer monopoly the west has over setting historical narratives. True change will only arrive when we have a govt with enough balls to revamp the history books and carry out indigenous research to counter the west.

problem with Indian history books it is highly delhi centric..i am from Uttarakhand..never understood it why they don't teach my own state my own people history...i read more about delhi history than Uttarakhand..their is definitely need of history books who focus in all states of india, rulers, thousands years of history, culture...these books need to decolonized...

      Order of books:

      3. The Classical Age
      4. The Age of Imperial Kanauj

      9. The British Paramountcy and Indian Renaissance part I
      10. The British Paramountcy and Indian Renaissance part II
      11. The Struggle for Freedom
These books were written by a team of 80 historians.
Read from the 1st page don't start with Chapter
      Preface etc. are also good.
Spread it to others too if possible.
You can buy it from Amazon/flipcart too but since these are a bit costly so try reading it online or from pdf of the link mentioned then make decision.
Note: Aryan Invasion Theory was still prominent while writing the books so you must keep that fact in mind.
Yaa but for British time (last 3 books)
During Mughals and Maratha (5 6 7 8th books) are ok.
Rest are ok too since nothing is waste.
