#ageofempires #ageofempires4 #aoe4 - Hry
I got to say man, I've watched a lot of age2 and starcraft casting, and I've got to say you're as good or better than t90 and lowko at casting in general.
And you are far better than t90 at casting age4, you seem to have the majority of the mechanics down and are not only personable but super knowledgable, I hope you become there premier age4 caster.
Cheers man!
maybe a t90 drongo co-lab ;)
Agree, drongo has put in the time and effort that I expected t90 to in order to learn the game. Hope that facebook deal didnt make him too comfortable.
Yes
@@yc5117 i mean t90 is busy casting age 2 tournaments and hosting them occasionally as well.
Age 4 isn't finished and lacks a lot of mechanics from previous games that made them smoother experiences while lacking "modern" RTS things like control group management not being garbage to do on starcraft for example.
Stuff like this is going to keep age 4 below most rts games that already exist.
It was released unfinished.
T90 still seems like a bit of an angry old man telling AoE4 to get off his lawn. If he winds up sticking around he'll get a lot better at it, but I don't think he has the interest in it and will just go back to 2. Was surprised he didn't seem to be informed of the mechanics at all. I assume he must have been invited to the early access but just never bothered with it.
To further explain about Mongols, Yam Network gives +15% movement speed bonus under presence of outposts. If unit leaves its presence, the bonus lasts for 20 seconds. This bonus only applies to traders and cavalry. However if you research Yam Network upgrade at any outpost, that bonus starts to apply to every unit you have. It even works for packed buildings, ships and villagers as well. For the Kurultai, regeneration and damage bonus is always on(even in combat) so long as Khan is within its influence zone. 30 seconds duration timer for damage bonus starts when units or Khan leaves its influence zone. Regeneration goes off instantly when units or Khan leaves the zone.
Thanks for this. I was wondering about the mechanics of that buff.
Bro Why are you explaining the silver deer landmark he is using in this game merchant landmark which is for half price merchants and other benefits that I don't remember. And with that half price plus ovoo double train he began the spamming merchants so also he activated the silk road benefits which is giving him much more trade goods income etc.
@@huseyin8751 The Yam Network while not using the Deer stones is a Castle Age Tech, the Deer Stones just gives the buff to you in Feudal age. The Yam network is also passive for all cav and traders by default even without the Deer stones.
@@huseyin8751 yam network is more important to silver tree than deer stones. you put up an outpost next to a small trade route like this, you're making 15% more resources, which Daut didn't even need. it's just further showing there's even more scaling to this boom.
in general Daut doesn't seem to recognize the power of outposts (granted, he didn't need to). 15% speed on cav and traders for 70 wood is a nightmare deal.
@@Xohslol yeah I was thinking this exactly. I've been playing for like 4 days now just as mongols and it was kinda hard to see some of these mistakes like not moving the market into the other corner considering you know they are going man at arms and you have mangunai (or however you spell) I try to get one corner to the other lined in trade posts so they get the yam boost at all times. I need to see some current games where they know the tech and shit too.
Daut favorite civ in AOE4 is Mongols because he can't have his keep/castle denied XD
no daut castles for him
my first game with Mongols: "Trade seems really good with the Ovoo."
Second game: "I love GOOOOLD!"
I'm honestly really enjoying what AoE 4 brought about in bridging the different AoE communities, i always followed you and samurai for AoE 3 and TheViper, DauT, Hera and others for AoE 2, but it always felt like there was a line of separation between the playerbases, and now seeing stuff like you and TheViper duking it out, or a video of yours analyzing DauT's play is a dream come true
For real,I wasn't even aware that a AOM or AOE3 scene even existed, yet I keep seeing former pros of these games playing against AOE2 players and that's amazing
When Daut wins, he wins decisively. 10/10 strategy.
There is a good video called "The RTS Esport That Refuses To Die - Age of Empires II" that helps go into detail as to why Daut is known as the Lord, essentially he's been playing it since 2001 and has been among the top players ever since.
That's damn impressive. I'm only 27 and I already feel myself declining steeply in skill in RTS games. He must be even older.
While Lord Daut is not the creator, he is the one who showed us the way 20 years ago and, once again, shall show us the hidden truths of AoE4. Through his teachings shall we all elevate ourselves to pure enlightenment.
Are you going to finish the civ guides Drongo? You made the English one, where are the rest?
Other civs: Strong timing push with units and siege to all in base.
Mongols: Later nerds!
The monastery is for the prelate upgrades. Double healing, warrior inspiration and extra health are needed if you want to effectively use them in combat.
The HRE player did not have the resources to do so, though. Tough spot.
13:00 the Cathedral counts as a monastery only for the purposes of storing relics and providing increased gold value. The monastery is necessary to research technologies related to prelates, such as the ones that allow you to inspire your army or the ones giving him 40 extra health.
Also, each Prelate made from a tc is less villagers made. Thus, the Monastery is useful to help focus tc production on those vills.
@@hybralisk The villagers building the Monastery take time off the economy tho.
@@Mp57navy I mean, fair point. Although, it's a single investment of time that frees up the town centers to refocus on villagers only from that point on in most cases. Additionally, it's the only way to get those special techs for the Prelates. It's also another relic deposit if one were to get more than three after filling the Cathedral Landmark. Plus, any subsequent Monasteries could be placed in a more hostile or frontline location. I think at least one Monastery is crucial!
Best part is, once the oovoo is down and he has map control, the mongrels can pack up the silver tree and move it further away to make the trade route better
I’ve been playing mongols with the traders a lot… but I did not know so many things you mentioned in this video. The yam upgrades applying to traders, the trading tiers, the sheer amount of traders (I only ever just rush 6 out and call it a day lol). Very helpful video!
You can pack up and move the silver market to make the trade route longer
And the gold doesn’t go away for if you build a bunch of traders close then pack up the market and run, you could get far more gold almost twice as fast for the first trip!
You need at least 9 at the minimum. TBH, Mongols can forgo mining gold if you hit about 20 traders with Yam & Outpost.
You have to add the outposts on the trade route too, so you can speed up your merchants with the Yam Network tech. This is really good!
Never heard about the 'Lord' meme but the self concious explanation made it really nice and fun.
Love the explanations and ideas you put in the cast. Looking Forward to See More of the wololo wisperer
Best AoE4 caster.
Daut's power level when he doesn't need to micro:
I love the UWU mechanics such a fun civ to play 11
I feel like Jordan isnt fully aware of everything he can do here too. He doesnt emergency repair and doesn't get the right kind of armour.
Also building the monastery, not having prelates at the relics ready to collect them at castle age, etc. Yeah, he seemed to not have had much experience in AoE4. Would have been interesting to have both teams with near infinite gold with no villagers mining.
I would have been hesitant to run Prelates around if I was facing Mangudai tbh. Also, each Prelate from a tc = less villagers made so there's a point to Monastery imho. Also can get upgrades at it, but yeah kind of wasted here.
I am so happy to see many of the big names making the effort to develop the mp meta in 4
0:21 drongo says UwU 😂
Never thought I would witness drongo saying UwU
Mongol healing fountain is so sick to back up the Mangudai push
I've been trying to hit mastery on mongols since it released, honestly one of the funnest factions to play
Agreed but very hard to play properly, tons of micro on the cavs and horse archers. Tons of options with your ovo, which techs do you want to upgrade extra or if you wanna rush units or traders like in this game. Just so many options, heck you start off with a split second decision, where do I move my TC to when I spawn? Wood? Gold? Berries? Deer?
@@taserrr Bro i just started playing them yesterday for the first time after watching some guide videos and i gotta tell they are so fun to play and it suits my playstyle completly so im starting to main them and leave France for now
@@Tom3K_grabarzzzz Hahaha I also come from France :D The Rus and Abbassid just didn't click with me.
@@taserrr same with me i Got to try English and hre but they seem kinda boring Delhi and china are kinda pass for now so think mastering mongols might be the move
im surprise he just didnt send some heavy cav to just dunk on the trade. Those magudai don't have a lot of attack so at least you could kill tons of traders before they died
So glad I found Drongo since this game released
From AoE2 - glad to find a great Age4 content creator!
think it would be a nice addition if you mentioned the map at the beggining of the match along with introducing players
they reminded me of the night elves from warcraft 3, enemy attacking your base? pack up and run away!
Fun fact: you can put your TC at your ovoo to make 2x villagers at a time too
150 stone. Bro actually good but much cost
right, but a few caveats:
1. in most cases, you're gonna want to use your stone on the silver tree trade route instead due to the 50% reduction time applying to traders even if you do the 2 for 1 deal.
2. it's at the mercy of map generation. being next to a treeline is more valuable than double villager production (assuming you will be investing this stone into traders, of course). some starting stone spots are fucking bad.
The heal is negligible at best. Something around one health every second and a half. The main bonus is the increased damage that's persistent as long as they're nearby the monument.
It keeps the Mangudai healthy at the very least, which can be very annoying for opponent.
and in general, kurultai is the weakest monument in this build by a considerable margin. it's just the alternative is a big drop off that increases gold from mining....which you just don't need.
@@Xohslol Kurultai is the LM to go for if you want to end the game right then and there.
@@sleepylion9788 it's pretty insignificant either way. literally only picking it because the other is even more insignificant.
@@Xohslol the Steppe aren't insignificant, Mongol can't outmine gold all other civs tks to it. In the game that i use the Steppe, my gold is always double my opponent
In fact, if DAut move the market far away after make 7 units, you have enough for jump to castle age XD
big thing the dude forget here, he could just replace his market at top of map, so his TC would be in middle of all and the whole trade road would kinda well protected anyways and he could get alot more !! Mongols r as crazy as rus ,in some cases even crazier.
stone and tech and everything revolves aaround ovoo
DauT is a genius
0:15 I don’t understand tbh, he could have parked next to the gold and the forest. Or is it that good to save that extra second?
whenever I play vs an AI and start with mass horse archers, they're just countered by spears protecting mass archers
wouldnt that have been an option for HRE? or are their cav option too good to pass up?
Mag can perma kite spears, and out DPS archers unless ranged defensive upgrades are researched by HRE. Jordan definitely didn't perfect this match up, but particularly in age 2, I don't know if HRE has the answers WITHOUT disrupting the boom.
Good to see word about our lord and savior DauT being spread.
It is exactly the sound of OWO except it has 2 "OO"s. So OWOO xD
The Mongols always need wood, to build pasture, train units cost heavily. That is the main reason why Daut wants his tc close to wood.
And never pick Holy Roman Empire against the Mongols.
There is a reason why the Byzantines couldn't reach Rus.
THE LORD himself
Hi, Drongo, a suggestion, it would be good if you could include the map seed in the description so the rest of us could try it out ourselves!!
Did they nerf the speed that the ovoo gathers stone? Mine goes so much slower lol
I think you missed something on that armor analysis.
Coming from AoE2, it's really easy to make the assumption that the armor techs are "for this category of unit" not "for this type of armor"...
With 9 traders buffed by yam you literally can’t spend the resources fast enough.
you sure can, I've had 15 stables before :D
also you are using the word literally wrong
@@scalion44y22 I meant it literally. Due to population limits chances are you'll be getting resources faster than you are losing and training more troops almost all of the time.
@@Just_Lucky24 fair enough :)
When an AoE3 pro casts a game of two AoE2 pros on AoE4 xD
Lord Daut hahahah keep the memes comin
He build the religious building to research the prister buff villigar with work and buildspeed
So.. tower rush the trading post?
FWIW, I think "ovoo" is pronounced something like owo (with the "o" sounding like the vowel in "caught"). In English, I think rhyming with "oboe" is probably how it's meant to be pronounced.
man your videos are soooooooooo good.
You know u can pack up and move the Silver Tree farther away to get more gold right?
well the aivu is right there unless he find a new stone deposit
Or build a new market and reassign it as a home for existing traders.
@@khanhnguyen-tt3ff Use double production too rush to Tier 3 Silk Road, then move Silver Tree to get the maximum amount from your route
That's what I do as Mongols. Build the landmark close by and then move it farther so I don't have villagers walking across the map
Need a Daut Castle
You can talk about why the liser lost. And what could he have done better.
How do you use the Khan? Is he just spawned or is it a unit? I havent played them yet but i wonder how it works. I might start playing mongols
You get a Khan at the start instead of a scout and it auto upgrades when you age up. You can unlock techs for longer arrows (they give bonuses like mov speed, horse archer attack speed etc.). When you Khan dies you'll automatically spawn a new one after a few minutes. As far as I know there's no way to get it back any sooner.
@@taserrr thanks for the info bro. definitely cleared my questions. Im going to give them a try
@@Ocean.Spirit Happy to help, good luck!
@@Ocean.Spirit, and, if I'm not mistaken, each time he dies, it takes longer to respawn, so be careful not not have him sniped.
Against the mongols you must go for archers or crossbow to deal with the mangudai. Can't go for just barracks in the age 2
Then Mongol will just go Horseman to counter, plus Mangudai can run away from Archers so they're not an effective counter without Early Knights.
@@sleepylion9788 they out range the mangudai that's the point, for horseman couple of spears will work, if you pressure them they can't raid you, but you need enough to 1 shot the mangudai think like 20 will work. You can 1 shot the horseman too but you need like 25 archers with plus 1 ranged attack to work. To counter this you need early knight or man at arms
while true, the mongols would've outboomed here if spears were opted for.
@@rafaelpesconi6362 it's already built into the build order though, you get age 2 mangudai and transition to lancers on age 3. Then you mass those with some rams and there's not much archers/pikes can do
I've seen 200 gold off a trade route lol :) but this may be 2v2
Meanwhile I play that as SimCity . Taking my time to build everything single building.. lol
this is why I kinda hope aoe 4 is not getting a huge pro scene. Often you have mechanics in games like this that are totally fine and fun for casual, but give them to a pro and they become busted, which means we lose it for casual.
@@daftwulli6145 no pro scene = no future for the game. For real if u prefer base building play anno or sim City. A huge aoe4 pro scene is important to save the whole RTS genre and ensures further developments
@@ichbineinschlauch4989 You know I kinda doubt that. At the end of the day a big playerbase decides over the success not a big pro scene, and a game being more fun casual could be pretty successful. Games that have a steep learning curve are hard to get into with limited time. That is a huge reason why mobile games are so successfull : quick to get into and be decent at, instead of sucking for a significant amount of time. You can see the same with shooters. While games that have a steep learning curve are becoming more and more rare. So being yet another RTS where you need months to be good at could be the death of the game and with it the genre.
@@daftwulli6145 well thats the Idea behind rts.
@@daftwulli6145 I don't get that approach I read it all the time for various different games. Not every game is the same and not every game has to fit your preferences. This games has a long legacy of being an RTS with a pro scene, why can't you let it be that? There's literally thousands of casual friendly games out there, why not play one of those if you really don't like anything remotely competitive?
Wait a sec....how do you get the score during the game? Is that only for replays?
And casting.
If you'd like to know the pronunciation for "ovoo," it's a long "o" sound, like in "dog," and the "v" is more a cross between a "v" and a "w" (leaning more "w," like in "win") ~ rough IPA transcription: /ɔw̜ɔː/
... and "ger" rhymes with "hair" (more or less)
Maximum trade gold pre-buffs on a micro (1v1) map is 100 btw, with the mongol silk roads and neutral trade buff I think the max would be 131
Pretty sure it's higher than that
for micro sized map, he's close to correct.
how many ovoos can i have? i tried yesterday when i built multiple ovoos my previous ones just self-decontructed...
One, obviously
One at a time, when you build a second one, the other gets destroyed.
You can build monastery and do a research that makes monasterys work as ovoos without the stone generation (on imperial age), so you can expand the ovoos influence, it boosts up pastures too.
how would you counter this - just pressure the trade route with slower units?
i've seen civs actually build up a stationary force around the neutral trading posts to deny this, but lots of micro goes into it when fighting the mong , both on scouting and countering their kiting , not easy
Push the enemy trading posts and try to get a tower near it? But yeah the trading is very strong and it really forces your opponent to go on the offensive or they'll get behind very fast.
if an opponent is booming, you have to disrupt the boom yea?
amazing!
Textbook DRUBBING
gold per minute goes up linearly due to time traveled.
HRE should have walled the trading post after he scouted the silver tree. What can Mangudai do against walls?
Bought the game last night and is planning to main mongols.. but this seems like a hard counter to this strat. I wonder what mongols could do against this.
@@evescent7312 you can tech up infantry to build rams by age II
also its pretty risky walking builders vs horse archers
i like Ovu. In my mother tongue Ovu sound like "Oh! boob" which easier to remember.
Here's the thing, I don't really see why you'd go with the trade landmark over the Yam network. As far as I know you need the Deer Stones landmark to get it, so you cannot have both the Yam network and the market landmark.
Obviously the yam network is completely broken for anything military related (spreads from outposts too). Kinda like zerg Creep, and we all know how good that is in SC I hope.
But secondly, Yam network will ALSO boost your trade. Simply put outposts on the route to the market and your traders will zoom along like they're formula 1 cars.
The Yam Network can be researched at any outpost at age 3.
Best AOE 4 castor
keeping the trade line that short seems weird. it should be pretty easy for mongols to move the market/Silver tree into the corner.
It just got thrown there since he needs it by the ovoo to double produce
@@Makofueled I know. but the more you have already the less current production matters. and there is propably a stone up there somewhere.
@@hansoskar1911 it will just delay his boom it take time to move and start building the new ovoo
probably in this situation it's too much of a hassle to move everything, the idle time between moving and setting up shop across the map probably would've cut his lead down and not be able to outboom the opponent so much , it'd still be a win probably, but not as quick as this one
When I move my market far away, I get my merchants very vulnerable, since Mongols doesn't have walls, so I prefer to do like daut did. It's easier to protect a small route. At least on 1v1.
DauT is our lord and saviour. Praise our Lord.
Maybe Twitch not saying hi to youtube because you didn't have the chat shared?
Welp that does it I am only playing Mongols 🤤 Do Mongols get spears? Daut could have prompted the GG 3 minutes sooner lol it always crazy
All civs get all the basic units including spears,MAA, light and heavy cav, archers, xbows, hand cannons and most of the siege units.
the only S T R trading civilization.
Infantry get rekt by almost anything: archers, cavalry, mangonel, town center.
More Mongol vids!!! >
Lord
Guys say feudal age knights are op but nobody is talking about Mongol trade which is actually op.
0:26 UWU
How do you counter mangudai?
archers
sneeze at them.
non-sarcasm, use anything that can actually hit them. their statline is poor, they're just able to run and gun.
Mongolians can’t pack up their outposts tho :(
I guess HRE should have gone archers to counter mangudai?
well the lancer is in the same building as the mangudai
Yeah archers are the best thing vs them I have seen so far
@@khanhnguyen-tt3ff they aren’t from the same building? Mangudai are from archery range not the stables
@@paulgazeley4059 also lancer are age 3 and not age 2. horsemen are not that good to deal with archer unless massed.
@@paulgazeley4059 you can make mangudai at the stable AND the archery range. I was playing just now and saw.
Age of Empires 2 was keeping us safe from DuaT's true power
OVOO: it is mean Овоо ..
It's pronounced uwu. :3
Ahh I remember my love for this series. But, I haven't played in a while. Not sure if I'm really interested with the series anymore. I guess I've just turned to grand strategy games mostly. Manor Lords seems like a promising game.
no spears vs mongols is not a tactic to use
I think since the first TC is a landmark, it can't be destroyed only made dormant, and the repairing vills were bringing it back from dormancy immediately
dont you have to repair it completely before it's active again?
it's not a bug, you should't be able to see what's on the other side of that tiny forest. unless u have units or any building. It so clear I don't get why people think it's a bug
its a bug in spectator mode where resources vanish from the map when you switch between map revealed/fog or switch the player you're seeing
Im a little surprised that this was a high-elo game. All Jordan had to do was mass cheap age II archers to win the early game. Im 1250 elo and have beaten this 🤔🤔
I haven’t played but have watched many matches, it seems the mangudai are just…too weak?
Mangudai being able to shoot on retreat makes them strong..... When no other unit can do this.
@@hubewa24 Tower Elephants can as well, but those cost like 400 food, 600 gold.
stat wise they can't be good. the current mechanic of shooting while moving is way too suspect.
for what they do, they're perfect. mongols have very good options with lancers and mags alone, giving you the horse dream you may have never wanted it.
worthy of note, they scape very well. 2 unique techs available to the mongols, and every single BS upgrade helps them immensely.
Seems like it's still more worthwhile to get the deer stones and just build a market at your ovoo, then you get the imperial age yam network upgrade in feudal age and you only delay your first 2 traders by 10-12 seconds. Which you make back that gold by not having to spend 700 gold on the upgrade in age 4.
You get yam speed baseline for cav and traders by default...
traders are affected by outposts in age 1. yam network is more of a vill/siege bonus.
Silver tree 50% production, 50% reduced cost is too good to be compared to a standard market. I'd only ever go deer stones if I know trading isn't going to be possible in any fashion.
Comparing the traits of the Mongols with the HRE is showing how bad the balancing is right now! Jordan didn't play too well to be fair, but it feels unfair nontheless ;)
it wasnt that ... the main problem was that this helps mongols alot ... because there's only 2 small entrances to your enemy that means you have to fight the mongols .... which if you do you will lose
@@ShogunLazo open field, etc etc.
Its called UwU isnt it? 0:25
It's not bugged... it's a feature, called a stealth forest. Ambushes can come from there.

HRE and english having the worst knigths in the game.................. Its like the devs havent seen a 15th century european knight fully encased in steel. How on earth can mongol heavy cav be equal to that
